Fireball Over Michigan Causes Earthquake

Gerald R. Ford didn't want to believe. He wanted to know what the hell was happening in Michigan.

Fifty years ago, soon-to-be president and then-representative Gerald R. Ford changed the conversation about UFOs in a very permanent way. In 1966, a growing number of reported sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects were coming out of Michigan. Naturally, people were concerned. Being the representative of the state’s 5th District, Ford shared their concern and called upon congress to conduct a “congressional inquiry” into the matter.

And he wasn’t shy about taking on the problem. UFOs were getting a lot of media attention and Ford didn’t shy away from a spotlight. He issued a pre-hearing press release making the case for government transparency and calling out a prominent astronomer.

Ford proposed that either the Science and Astronautics Committee or the Armed Services Committee of the House schedule UFO hearings and “invite testimony from both the executive branch of the government and some of the persons who claim to have seen UFO’s.” Politically speaking, he was all in. Hunters Encounter UFO in Michigan Woods

     Two Michigan witnesses at Harbor Springs reported watching an 8-foot diameter ball of blue-white light hovering less than 100 feet away that appeared to move away in a controlled manner, according to testimony in Case 62045 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The testimony was filed for the witnesses by Michigan MUFON Chief Investigator Daniel Snow on December 18, 2014, for events that occurred at 6:15 a.m. on November 16, 2014.

“Witness (A) and his brother, witness (B), were at a secluded deer hunting blind which was a two-hour hike in 10 inches of snow from their vehicle,” the investigator stated. “The location was on top of a prominent hill with a broad view of the valley below.”

The investigator described the strange encounter.

“After getting setup, still prior to sunrise, they noticed about a half dozen flashes of light. It was snowing moderately, when all of a sudden at close range, a stationary ball of white light appeared just above the tree tops nearby. The trees were about 30 feet high and the distance away was less than 100 feet.”

The object and its movement were described.

“The object appeared to be about the size of a small car, appeared to be a glowing blue/white ball of light with no edges and no attached object. After a few seconds of being stationary, the object proceeded to flow down the valley, parallel to the ground, and disappeared. The total sighting duration was about 30 seconds. The winds observed were from the north. The object departed to the east. No tracks, imprints or changes were observed to the nearby snow cover.” . . .

UFO and ‘Little People’ on Ground

      A Michigan witness recalls a UFO event at his parent’s home in Dexter when the family observed a landed object in their hay field with “little people” walking around, according to testimony in Case 61909 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was 6 years old on August 14, 1967, when he woke from sleep after hearing his parents having a loud conversation.

“I went into our kitchen and asked what was up,” the witness stated. “My father said you need to go back to bed, but my mother said she thought I ought to see what was happening.”

The witness said that his mother then walked him outside and asked him to look toward their back hay field.

“What I saw has stayed with me every day following this.”

The witness described the events.

“I still see the haze in the air around the object and the very little people walking around the object. There was no real defined shape other than it looked to be sort of oval and sort of big.”

The witness said he came home from school the next day, did his chores, and then asked his mother where his father was.

“She told me he had been in the back hay field all day. I went out to the field and found my dad pacing the field from one spot to another to another.”

The witness questioned his father about what he was doing.

“He pointed at the ground and I saw that there was a bare spot there. My father showed me two other bare spots in the field. I knew that there were no bare spots in the field because I had walked the field with my father the day before.”

Over the years, the witness said nothing ever grew in those spots.

“My father tried everything that he could think of to get something to grow in those spots.”

And according to the witness, someone had actually photographed the object.

Triangle UFO Caught on Video

     . . . “Somewhere about 30 minutes into the session I saw a triangle craft appear from the north on a southerly trajectory. It was emitting light from each of its three corners (as you’ll see in the attached video ‘auburn hills’). Its altitude seemed to be at least several thousand feet. I called out that I saw an inbound triangle and the guy next to me tried frantically to see what I was talking about. He didn’t have any light enhancing devices and never ended up seeing the craft.”

The group remained in the field until 9:15 p.m. when the cold sent them home.

“The next day, Monday, November 3, 2014, I went through the recordings to show the craft to the others who didn’t see it.”

But once the entire video was reviewed, more objects were seen. . . .

On the evening of March 8, 1994, residents of southwest Michigan began seeing strange things in the skies over Lake Michigan, to the south of Holland

    Blue, white, red and green lights — sometimes attached to cylindrical objects and sometimes performing unusual maneuvers — were reported.

“I glanced out to the backyard and noticed four bright lights just above the tree line over our horse pasture,” Grand Haven-area resident Cindy Pravda recalled in an interview. “I had been watching the lights for about 10 minutes when one of the lights slowly moved to the left. It looked like it traveled over the highway next to our house and then slowly moved back in formation.”

Pravda, who watched the lights for about 30 minutes, was not sure if they comprised a much bigger object. In 2008, she recounted the event for the History Channel’s television show “UFO Hunters,” in an episode titled “UFO Emergency.”

That night, 911 operators began receiving calls around 9:30 from eyewitnesses who were reporting something that looked like “a string of Christmas lights” in the sky. . . .

     A Michigan witness at Newberry recalled a late night incident when a silent, disc-shaped object hovering over a nearby potato field chased him through rural territory, according to testimony in Case 56940 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was riding his dirt bike home from work during the summer of 1984 across trails and back roads just about 11:30 p.m. when he noticed “multicolored lights just above the tree line” hovering nearby.

“I pulled onto South Airport Road shortly after midnight heading south, started going through the gears and noticed to my left something with multicolored lights just above the tree line hovering there,” the witness stated.

The witness was only about one-quarter mile along Old Airport Road when he stopped to watch the object floating over the potato field. But while he watched, the object abruptly moved toward him and began hovering directly overhead.

“It was round in shape, bright, multicolored lights on the perimeter, dark on the bottom and the lights inside of the object were like dash lights shining but much brighter. The windows appeared to go around the object but not totally sure about that. The size was about 50-75 feet across, but this is a guess. I was looking inside to see if I could see anything inside, but could not. All this happened within about 3-5 minutes time.”

As the witness watched, it occurred to him that the object was unlike anything he had ever seen and he became frightened. He quickly drove away.

“I looked back and there it was just above the trees chasing me. I looked back a second time and it was right there, shifted into 6th, looked back and it was gone. I got home and pulled into the driveway looking but not seeing anything above me, parked my bike went inside and never told anyone about what happened.”

The witness was afraid of ridicule if he recounted his story to friends and family. . . .

     Every month, numerous UFO videos are posted on YouTube by people all over the world, hoping to prove they have that smoking gun evidence that we are being visited by ET spacecraft.

Some are obvious hoaxes. Some turn out to be balloons, weather anomalies or other mundane objects that just look otherworldly. And then there are those that can never really be explained away.

In October, one of the more interesting videos came from a Michigan man who claimed to capture UFOs on two occasions with his home security camera. The videos are quite vivid, depicting the strange objects continually changing colors and reportedly shining a beam of light to the ground.

The man who goes by the YouTube moniker "jcattera" posted, on Oct. 8, his first UFO video -- that he recorded on Oct. 2.

      We were bring groceries in from the car while the discs crossed the night sky in a northern direction, I ran in and grabbed my camera, photographed the discs giving of a type sparks from each that does not show on the video however when a plane entered the area I could still the discs but I was unable to capture them again once the plane was in the area.

They were very bright and extremely noticeable. They hovered and than went in a northerly direction again. There several and more came from the east and joined them they eventually diapered. The event lasted a good 8 minutes and was seen by 3 of use.

I was trying to get them to notice us, at which time they did hover for a period of time. The movement was smooth, rather slow. I was trying to contact them with thought. Sounds unbelievable but true. I was calm and filled with wonder. I was having difficulty holding the camera still as I took the video, I was filmed free hand, no tri-pod or brace of any kind the movement of the disc in the video look shaky but the movement of the discs was very smooth.

     A Portland, MI, witness reported watching and videotaping a silent, triangle-shaped object with red lights at each point that moved slowly at the tree top level and hovered over the highway about 7:15 p.m. on December 19, 2012, according to testimony from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

"My brother and I saw three lights flying fairly low, at least tree top level while driving home at approximately 7:15 p.m.," the witness stated. "The craft made no noise and was moving at a slower rate than usual aircraft."

The witness could not identify the craft.

"Not sure what it was but hopefully someone can shed some light. The event happened on December 19, 2012. The shape of the craft was a triangle with three red lights at each point with a white, smaller light that moved around the craft. It made no noise."

The witness was able to capture a brief clip of the object on video. . . .

     GRAND BLANC TWP., MI -- Jeff Holko doesn't know exactly what he captured on video Tuesday, but the 23-year-old township man is open to suggestions for something he can't otherwise explain.

"I'm not saying it's aliens from another planet," said Holko, who grabbed his cellular phone and started recording the sky above Heatherwood Apartments on Grand Blanc Road after spotting a bright, flickering object hovering about 500 feet off the ground.
