Forget Roswell: Aztec Has One of the Most Intriguing UFO Mysteries

The site of the 1948 UFO crash sits just north of Aztec, New Mexico, and it’s not an easy place to find. It’s hidden inside a barren desert landscape and surrounded by rugged dirt roads, eerie rock formations, and arid shrub life along County Road 2770.

The Aztec UFO incident is a tale we hadn’t heard until a couple of months ago. In March 1948, as the story goes, a 100-foot saucer is believed to have crashed just north of Aztec. Unlike the Roswell crash, which took place only eight months prior, the Aztec UFO is believed to have landed on Earth mostly intact, with its occupants killed by the impact. The government is believed to have then descended upon the site to sweep up its contents and place them in a black hole of red-taped secrecy.

General Exon and the Unholy Thirteen

      When I began the Roswell investigation with Don Schmitt, I thought we’d find a solution quickly and that would be it. That didn’t happen, but as we talked with various witnesses, prowled various archives, museums and newspaper morgues, and found some limited documentation, it became clear that something had happened back in 1947.

When I interviewed retired Brigadier General Arthur Exon on the telephone on May 19, 1990, I began the discussion by saying that we were doing some research into the activities at Wright – Patterson Air Force Base. The discussion began with him mentioning that some outside agency would call, tell him they needed an aircraft for a mission, and then people would arrive by commercial air to be carried to the site of the investigation by an Air Force aircraft. This was all in the mid-1960s when Exon was the base commander. Seemed like a good way to disguise what you were doing.

Eventually we got around to the events of 1947 and Exon said:

As a result of that, I know they saw the one sighting and then where there… a good bit of the information came down. There was another location where it was, where apparently the main body of the spacecraft was… where they did say there were bodies there. I’ve been in… I’ve got special information but it may be more rumor than fact about what happened to those bodies although they were all found apparently outside the craft itself but were in fairly good condition. In other words, they weren’t broken up a lot.

I know what some of you are thinking. This doesn’t get us to Roswell and 1947 but it does mention bodies and does mention a spacecraft which means he wasn’t talking about an aircraft accident. He then said (after my question wondering if the bodies had come into Wright – Patterson which was simply “And they came to Wright – Patterson?):

Well, that’s my information. But one of them was that it went to the mortuary outfit… I think at that time it was in Denver [Lowery Field] where these people were being identified. But the strongest information was that they were brought into Wright – Pat. But whatever happened to the metal residue, I imagine it’s still there in the [unintelligible] some place.

But back in that ’47 time period, everybody was, it happened and why wasn’t there more information and who kept the lid on it. Well, I know that at the time the sightings happened it went to General Ramey who is now deceased, who was at Carswell AFB [Fort Worth] and he along with the people out at Roswell decided to change the story while they got their act together and got the information into the Pentagon and into the President.

Of course President Truman and General Spaatz, the Secretary of Defense [actually Secretary of War] who has now passed away, and other people who were close to them were the ones who made up the key investigative teams in relation to the released information. In one of my officers who did some research, who worked for me at Wright – Patterson, who had done some research on this part of his school came up with a deal that there was great concern at the time and there was fear that the people would panic if the sketchy information that they had such as what was it and where did it come from and what was their mission and so on and so on got out. So they decided to make it a national cover up. And that there probably wouldn’t be much released until everybody who was involved in it, including the thirteen people I’m talking about and their immediate staff who made up the, oh what was it, the twelve people who made up the investigative team had passed away. So they wouldn’t divulge information or information wouldn’t come out that they may or may not have been involved while they were alive.

That’s the logical thing and I know most of those people were around. I did know that they’re numbers one and two people were at the top of the staff including the Secretary of Defense and the Chief of Staff and the intelligence circle including the President’s office, I never heard of any elected officials…

I cut in to ask a very basic question. I asked, “Now, is this personal knowledge that you have of this?” Exon said:

This is stuff that I’ve heard from ’47 on to the present time, really. About why wasn’t it… about who was responsible and it was no problem to find out who was in those positions in ’47 and ’48 and I just happen to remember them because the Air Force was being formed and I was in the Pentagon and worked around a lot between the Pentagon and the field so I knew these people.

Given this information, I wondered who would have been the controlling agency. Who had the overall responsibility for this? Exon said:

I just know there was a top intelligence echelon represented and the President’s office was represented and these people stayed on it in key positions even though they might have moved out to investigate all sightings and stuff and get pictures and get information and bring it into the central repository

From that point, the discussion shifted into who might be able to provide additional information. He did tell me of a man who had been in charge of the Foreign Technology Division at one time by the name of Cruikshank. I actually found him and called him. That conversation was very short and I could think of no way to keep him talking. He was too clever. He just told me that he didn’t know who I was, he didn’t know what was still classified and what wasn’t, and he had nothing else to say. While I didn’t appreciate the short telephone call, it made perfect sense to me. It was what I would have done in a similar circumstance.

I did ask about other crashes, but Exon said that the only one he knew about was the one in New Mexico. We finished our conversation with Exon saying, “…I’d be surprised if you found much in the records of FTD or like that because it was so closely held… If it originated there it ended up being part of the unholy thirteen group… people that I know who were involved in it, they were sworn to secrecy.”

Now here’s something that I came to realize later. We all assumed, and it is almost engraved in stone, that the modern UFO era began on June 24, 1947, when Ken Arnold made his sighting and report. We assumed that nothing else was going on in the world of the UFO, but as I was working on Government UFO Secrets, I learned that the UFO investigations actually went back to the Foo Fighters. There were the Ghost Rockets in Scandinavia in 1946 and finally the flying saucers of the US. But the intelligence networks had been looking into these things since World War II, and one guy’s name surfaced throughout this. Howard McCoy was the man and he was involved in the Foo Fighter investigation, was part of the US Ghost Rocket investigation and was then charged with investigating the flying saucers that were being reported prior to Arnold. And then in September 1947, when Twining’s letter was written, it was McCoy who wrote it for Twining’s signature.

So, if what fell at Roswell was alien, the committee to study these things already existed. It might have been expanded at that point but it was not created in response to anything that happened in July 1947. This was the mistake that I think we were all making. The people who were going to study this were already worried about the national security implications of the flying saucers, though they wouldn’t have called them that until after Arnold. So this committee, these “Unholy Thirteen” as Exon called them, was already at work trying to determine what was going on. If we postulate that they were already in existence because of what had been happening before Arnold it changes the complexion of UFO history.

So, when Exon revealed what he knew, he was talking about something that existed prior to July 1947. When what he told me, and later amplified for Don Schmitt, is looked at in this context, we see something a little different. What he says makes a little more sense, when what we know today is added to what Exon said in 1990.

In the end here, we see Exon’s words with a little more clarity, and we understand a little more about what he was saying. That doesn’t diminish the importance of them, just changes the context slightly and gives us a better understanding of what he said.

     Tales of crashed UFO parts and alien bodies have been told about Wright-Patterson Air Force Base since the 1947 Roswell incident and now include a secondhand report filed today as Case 58327 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The report was filed by the grandchild of the woman who received the information firsthand in about 1960 who explains that his grandparents lived in Dayton, Ohio, for many years prior to 1964.

“A close friend retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base,” the reporting witness stated. “He was high ranking. My grandmother, who was the most witty, honest and candid person I’ve ever met asked him if it were true about the alien craft and possibly the alien bodies being stored at the base.”

The witness stated that he will never forget how the man responded as told to him by his grandmother.

“He said, ‘If the public knew what was at the base from the Roswell incident, there would be a general panic amongst the public.’” . . .

RAF pilots shot down a UFO that was threatening Britain … and Whitehall covered it up, an explosive new book claims

      Author Sven Lumley says soldiers took the wreckage to be analysed at a secret location after the alien craft was blasted out of the sky over north Wales in 1974.


But Government officials hushed up the incident for fear of causing massive public alarm, he claims in his book The Berwyn Mountains Incident Revealed.

Lumley has partly based his findings on work done by investigator Russ Kellett over the last 20 years.

Both are convinced they have evidence of Britain’s equivalent to the Roswell mystery, when a UFO was said to have landed in New Mexico in 1947. The US military is accused of having kept the craft and the aliens aboard it hidden ever since.

Mr Kellett claimed three UFOs were spotted over the Irish Sea in 1974. As one headed towards the Berwyn Mountains, it was shot down by missiles from RAF jets and then crashed at Llandderfel. . . .

The Roswell Slides: My Perspective

     Well, I had to go out of town a couple of days ago, but got finished early and came back to see that the new Roswell controversy has reached stratospheric proportions! Since my name has been referenced in relation to all this, it’s only right that I set the record straight.

First and foremost, I should stress that I have not done any investigations into this angle of Roswell – at all. Nor have I seen the slides – or even copies of them – that everyone is talking about. I have, however, shared with various parties involved in this the data that was provided to me. And, having done so, I had it confirmed that it gelled with the data they had already uncovered.

Basically, it goes like this: earlier this year, I received a phone call, on a withheld number. The gist of it was that the caller claimed he could get access to certain slides that showed a “dead alien” that was laid out on (I think) a board or similar, and which was small and naked (aside from a cloth or towel, or similar placed over its genitals). It was reportedly humanoid and had an eerie look on its face.

It’s important to note that the caller never mentioned Roswell as the site where the photo was taken. Rather, I was told that the photographer – who I was also told was a geologist named Bernerd Ray - had a personal, direct connection to Roswell, and so the surmise was that this is where the photo was taken, given its nature and the Roswell link to the photographer.

It was clear to me that the caller, who was elderly and who had a Texas accent (I know that, since I have lived in Texas since 2001) was not in possession of the slides, but was looking for an answer on one thing only: how much did I think they might be worth?

I replied, truthfully, that since I had not seen them, knew nothing of them, or their provenance etc, there was no way I could give even a ballpark figure. It was then alleged to me that the slides had been shared with a major TV news company (no specific company name was provided) who had been able to confirm their 1940s-era provenance – although they had not, apparently, been able to prove that the body in the slides was real or a sophisticated dummy, which makes sense, as dating the slides would not be too hard, but trying to make some sense of the images themselves would be very difficult.

Now, as far as why I got the call, I can only speculate. However, if you look at the post that Paul Kimball wrote on all this, there is a reference to Kevin Randle’s words on how the primary source involved in this controversy spent some time down in Midland, Texas, speaking with friends of the geologist. Coincidentally (or, probably not), I live right off the I-20 highway in Arlington, Texas. Although it’s a few hours’ drive, to get to Midland from where I live, you jump on I-20 and stay on it all the way to Midland.

On top of that, I do a lot of Texas-based interviews for TV, radio, newspapers, magazines etc, so my name (and contact info) is in the public domain in Texas, quite widely. And, about three years ago, I did a local TV shoot in Midland, which may explain why I was sought out – and also, the fact that I have written about Roswell.

In Paul’s post you’ll note that Kevin contacted me and we chatted about all this, which is absolutely true. It seems to be the case (although, granted, this is speculation) that my caller had been told of the slides (whether by the primary source, or in a “friend of a friend” situation) and was trying to put himself into the story, with a view to making more than a few dollars.

There are a lot of puzzles about all this, but what I can say for sure about all this is that the caller provided names and data that was not in the public domain at the time, and they were names and data that various parties involved in this story confirmed to me, when I shared the story I had been told, were indeed part of the story. It’s important to note, too, that when I brought up the name of Bernerd Ray with the parties, it was confirmed that this was the man who reportedly took the photos.

So, regardless of what the images show, there’s little doubt that my phone-caller was indeed fully acquainted with the story, the slides and much more – and before any of this became public knowledge.

It should be stressed that, in relating all the above I have not compromised any oaths, non-disclosure forms etc, as I have not signed anything. And I have not had any contact with the primary source of the story at all. What I did was to share the contents of a single phone call with the Dream Team – a phone call, which I think was from someone known to the source, and who decided to take it upon himself to become a kind of “fixer” / “player” trying to make some money, and in doing so, called me to try and get an idea of their worth.

And what is now surfacing here at Rich’s blog and at Paul’s blog (about slides, geologists, a dead humanoid, of major media attention that ultimately didn’t work out, etc) is all very, VERY similar to the story told to me on the phone and which I then shared with the Dream Team.

So, in other words, while I certainly don’t know all the ins and outs of this, I do know that, regardless of the truth or provenance (or otherwise) of the slides, the story itself most definitely does have substance

      Kevin Randle’s sidekicks heard that a woman, while handling an estate deal in Texas, came across some Kodachrome slides stashed in the lid of an old trunk at the home of the deceased woman whose estate she was closing.

Passing the slides on to her brother, a businessman in Chicago, got the attention of Tom Carey of the Roswell Dream Team.

Mr. Carey notified his fellow team-members and they set out to determine if what the slides showed were in fact what they assumed them to be: bodies lying on gurneys, covered midway by army blankets, from the Roswell area in 1947.

The bodies were not quite human but not quite unearthly either.

Carey and his fellow members took the slides to a Chicago newspaper and also allowed Eastman Kodak experts to examine the slides.

Both entities agreed that the Kodachromes were from the 1947 era.

The photos were taken, sneakily, by the husband of the woman in whose house they were found.

He was a geologist on a field trip near Roswell in the summer of 1947. He and his fellow geologists came upon an Army mop-up of what seemed to be an accident.

The area was cordoned off and the geologists told not to interfere or get involved.

The geologist snapped a few pictures unbeknownst to the Army and secreted his camera away.

His name was Bernerd A. Ray and he eventually went to work for Silas Newton
of Aztec notoriety.

When he died, his wife put the slides in hiding for fear, apparently, of government reprisal.

Now that the slides have come forward, the Randle team has tried to get a media outfit to do something with them.

CNN was contacted but did not wish to go forward since the persons providing the slides were known Roswell advocates of the extraterrestrial persuasion, CNN thinking the slides might be a ruse to sell more Roswell stories.

Those who have seen the slides and bodies in them think the corpses are alien entities.

That may be disputed since there is no corroborating evidence to confirm that conclusion.

Where the slides are now is not known by this writer. Nor do I know what the Randle team is doing about the matter.

But this is part of what the Roswell team is working with and on.

      A recent discovery of material, thought to be linked to the Roswell incident, seems, indeed, to be so.

While the provenance of that material is being sought, evidence that it derives from the 1947 Roswell area is circumstantially solid.

Here’s the scenario, as we understand it…..

A group of geologists, working in an area north of Roswell, stumbled upon an Army mop-up of what appeared to be an accident.

An accident is inferred by the “evidence” gathered and extant – currently provided to news media and research facilities for their evaluation.

One of the geologists, despite being warned along with his colleagues, not to obtain any information from the accident site, did snap, surreptitiously, some photos of what the group had inadvertently come across.

The geologists were also cautioned not to discuss what they had seen.

The evidence remained hidden until, by happenstance, it was recovered during a legal matter, and subsequently proffered to members of Kevin Randle’s Dream team.

Following the scrutiny the evidence has been subject to, one finds that the “evidence” supports elements of the Aztec crashed-saucer story, recounted by Frank Scully in his 1950 book, Behind the Flying Saucers.

The geologist whose wife had squirreled away the evidence was a working intimate of Silas Newton, one of the Scully informants, who was, along with Leo Gebauer, ultimately discredited by machinations of the U.S. government and the U.S. Air Force.

To keep her husband from the Newton/GeBauer fate, the geologist’s wife kept his Roswell evidence hidden until its recent find after her death.

But how does Aztec become connected to Roswell?

While the Aztec story began, allegedly, at a lecture by an “unidentified” scientist at the University of Denver in March 1950, Frank Scully became privy to details of the Roswell crash, via Silas Newton and Leo GeBauer who had obtained information about the Roswell incident from intimates in the government with whom they worked in their oil companies and related research.

Scully, initially, was not given the location of the supposed saucer crash but received the location from Silas Newton who was told by Dr, Gee (Leo GeBauer) that the crashed saucer was near Aztec.

Passing on the Roswell information to Scully caused anxieties of an extreme kind to the government when its agencies found out that Scully had been given suppressed information about what happened near Roswell in 1947, but relocated to Aztec in 1948, to prevent the Roswell crash from becoming “unsecret.”

The government arranged for GeBauer and Newton to corrupt the information they had already provided to Scully.

Aztec had experienced a strange episode in 1948, one similar in scope to the Roswell incident but not well supported as Roswell had been.

Roswell had experienced a true saucer crash, with a recovery of bodies, while Aztec’s saucer and bodies were not clearly defined and its supporting evidence was evanescent.

The Air Force decided to mix, using GeBauer and Newton, the Roswell “facts” with the Aztec “non-facts.”

Should Scully’s book become grist for a national awareness that flying saucers were, indeed, craft of extraterrestrial visitors -- which it did – the content could be debunked easily, full of rumored information rather than actual information which was what Roswell had produced.

Roswell’s information was suppressed by all the hither-dither that has become the bulk of the Roswell myth.

Scully’s book was prepared to reopen the Roswell story so Scully’s venue was shifted to Aztec, where the information was iffy, at best.

The ploy did not work initially, and Scully’s book became a headliner.

The Air Force then had to rid the Scully oeuvre of its essential informants: GeBaurer and Newton, credible men at the time and well-connected.

A case of fraud was concocted against Scully’s confidants, and promoted by an expose in a book by San Francisco reporter, J.P. Cahn.

Newton and GeBauer were convicted of fraud, and Scully’s story was dismissed as a tale conceived to perpetuate the fraud.

Aztec was and is tainted by that fraud conviction and Roswell was not opened to new scrutiny as its renewal was stifled by its being wrapped into the Aztec story, and disguised thereby.

The story and evidence of alien bodies derives from Roswell and ended up in Aztec per Scully: Page 26 ff. (in the Popular Library paperback, 1951)

Metal remnants (debris) was intrinsic to Roswell but was inserted into the bogus Aztec scenario per Scully: pages 40/159 (in the Popular Library paperback, 1951)

Scully was, indeed, duped but not by Silas Newton and Leo GeBauer alone, but rather by a brilliant disinformation contrivance of the U.S. Air Force.

Yes, Scully was proffered material documenting a flying saucer crash, but that material pertained to Rowell.

Yes, his wife did see photos of unearthly bodies, but those photos came from the Roswell incident and will factor into the new Roswell probe.

Yes, something did happen near Aztec in 1948, but that something was prosaic and mundane by Roswell standards.

Aztec is a cover story, nothing more.

It’s Roswell where the “action” really took place, and the new evidence, when revealed, will bear that out.

     Before we start, let me say this. I have known Robert Hastings for nearly twenty years and I have always been impressed with his integrity and his intellect. I knew Chester Lytle for a long time. He was a man of impressive credentials who had no reason to embellish his position and suggest UFO knowledge if he had none. In other words, talking about flying saucers wouldn’t have done him much good and certainly could have hurt him.

Now both of these men come together in Hastings’ UFOs and Nukes: Extraordinary Encounters at Nuclear Weapons Sites. Hastings had the opportunity to interview Lytle on a number of occasions and Lytle shared an interesting story about the Roswell UFO crash. I will note that Hastings had shared this information with me prior to the publication of his book, so I have known about it for some time, but he asked that I say nothing until his book was available.

According to Hastings, he was interviewing Lytle about his involvement with atomic energy and what he might know about UFO sightings near nuclear plants or facilities. Hastings said that with no prompting from him, Lytle moved on to the Roswell crash and told Hastings that William Blanchard (right), who had command of the 509th Bomb Group in Roswell at the time of the crash confirmed the alien nature of the event.

Lytle told Hastings that in February 1953, with Blanchard now a general officer, they were in Alaska while Lytle’s wife was in Chicago about to give birth. Lytle was desperate to get home and Blanchard said that they could take an Air Force aircraft to Illinois, land at one of the bases close to Chicago and Lytle could get home from there.

While on the flight, somehow the subject of UFOs came up, maybe because of a couple of sightings at Elmendorf Air Force Base near Anchorage sometime earlier. Blanchard then told Lytle that an alien craft had crashed near Roswell. According to Hastings, Blanchard told Lytle that four bodies had been recovered.

Surprised by this, Hastings asked Lytle, "Blanchard actually told you that the Roswell object was an alien spacecraft."

Lytle said, "Oh, absolutely."

In break with the traditional story, Blanchard said that some of the bodies had gone originally to Muroc Army Air Field (now Edwards Air Force Base), but that they all wound up at Wright Field.

Now, granted, this is second-hand testimony about what Blanchard said, but there is no reason for Lytle to invent it, and it is quite clear that Lytle held many clearances and had been trusted with the secrets of the Manhattan Project. He was a credible man who would not have made up the story.

Of course, it fails on one point and that is that we can’t verify it with either Lytle or Blanchard. Both men are dead. The documentation that exists is quite limited and subject to various interpretations. At this point, this is an anecdote that provides a bit of insight into the crash... and it is the first time that Blanchard, through Lytle, put gave us a number of bodies. Blanchard, according to Lytle, said, "Four."

So what do we do? Add this to the list of stories about the UFO crash at Roswell and continue the search. Look for some additional corroboration but note that we had some reliable information that puts Blanchard in the center of this, just where he would have been as the commanding officer at the Roswell Army Air Field in July 1947.

     A few years before his death in 1998, the late U. S. Rep. Steven H. Schiff, in responding to concerns expressed by some of his New Mexico constituents, commissioned an investigation by the U. S. Government Accountability Office into the whereabouts of various federal agency records pertaining to the now-famous 1947 crash-landed flying saucer near Roswell, N. M. As a result, GAO staffers assigned to the case determined that certain military records likely to pertain to the event had gone missing. The public may never learn how important those records would have been in determining the fate of the Roswellian crashed-saucer wreckage and crew.

To pick up where those GAO investigators left off, a new case now presents itself with the recent discovery of some 1940s/1950s-vintage military film footage allegedly showing Pres. Eisenhower and aviation pioneer Howard Hughes inspecting some UFO-E.T. artifacts (including deceased UFOnauts). For details of the case as revealed on Feb. 3, 2009, to radio talk-show host George Noory during his syndicated program Coast-to-Coast AM, see the below-quoted transcript of "caller Bob's" account.

As Noory awaits receipt and analysis of a tell-tale excerpt from the discovered film footage, the other stakeholders in this historic turn of events -- meaning you and me and the rest of Earth's population -- deserve to know whether the discovered 16-mm film constitutes the original version thereof. To that end, I ask that you seek, on our behalf, the assistance of pertinent GAO investigators in determining:

(1). The film's authenticity.

(2). The identity of its originator.

(3). Whatever other such revelatory footage currently exists within the files of U. S. military components.

As you fulfill this request, I ask that your office keep me regularly informed of all related developments. If you know of any congressional committee that would be interested in holding a public hearing on this case and its implications, please share the content of this letter with the committee's chair.

Note: I'm sending to you a signed printout of this e-formatted letter, by which I authorize you to divulge its content to anyone you choose.

Thank you for helping the legacy of Congressman Schiff speak for itself.

[LWB Note: at the last minute of the guest segment's final hour, wherein guest Whitley Strieber and host Noory fielded listeners' calls, a man named "Bob" (from east of the Rockies) gives this account.]

Hello, Mr. Noory. I have a unique -- unique-- situation to volunteer. I'm in the military, and I monitor satellite cameras. What I've got to tell you is based on UFOs -- uh, very unique situation: I have acquired eighteen canisters -- reel-to-reel film, military film, based in the forties, early fifties. Uh, I inherited it.

[Noory: 16-mil, black-and-white?] They're black-and-white; I had a [garbled] on the majority of them. The cans show military insignia like eagles and stuff like that.

[Noory: Have you looked at the film yet, Bob?] I have looked at a few of them. Uh, what I've seen so far scares me to death.

[Noory: of what? -- give us a quick glimpse.] Uh, we gonna have to talk off the air at some point in time; it's not . . .. [Noory, interrupting: I'm gonna have you give Tom your phone number if that's okay.] What I've seen so far on the ones that I've looked at -- well, back to the first one that I looked at showed President Eisenhower and, uh, the, uh, that eccentric guy, he, uh, that had the airplanes -- what was his name? -- the one who went into seclusion.

[Strieber: Oh, Howard Hughes.] Howard Hughes in a warehouse, looking around and, uh, people laying on stretchers (and they weren't from this earth). [Noory: Oh, my gosh; all right, look . . ..] I want to stop there and . . .. [Noory, interrupting: Bob, I'm putting you on hold, we're gonna get your phone number and we will talk at length. Could be fascinating. Whitley, my friend, stay in touch. [Strieber: thank you very much, George, as always . . ..]

Veteran UFO Maven, Larry Bryant Enlightens C2C Listeners

     C2C listeners received a rare treat in the wee hours yesterday morning (Sunday’s show) as long time UFO pundit, Larry Bryant graced their airwaves!

Over 50 years ago Bryant began making inquiries to the military machinery regarding what they knew about UFOs (then Flying Saucers). The young Virginian was a founding member of the then “Air Research Group,” and wasn’t buying what the Air Force/government was selling then, and he doesn’t buy it now!

Some might describe Bryant as an antagonist to the powers-that-be with his never-ending “official catechizing” under the guise of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA); however, I deem him as a UFO stalwart who has a “never quit” attitude in attempting to pry the truth from the PTB.

For those of us paying attention, young John Greenewald (The Black Vault) comes to mind when FOIA’s are discussed, seeing that he has literally filled his “vault” with thousands of documents culled from the deep, dark depths of government archives . . . retaining the moniker as “expert” in these matters would be argued by few; however, who does John call on when “he has a question” concerning FOIA minutiae? You guessed it—none other then UFO sage, Larry Bryant!

Larry’s spot on C2C was precipitated by a revelation made by a caller from a previous show, which aired last month on the 3rd; experiencer/author Whitley Strieber was the guest. At the tail end of the show, during the “call-in segment,” a man, who said his name was “Bob” made what some might consider a ground breaking disclosure—he was in possession of film showing then President Eisenhower, along with none other then “Howard Hughes” inspecting what he described as “people laying on stretchers and they weren't from this earth . . ..”

Larry who was listening to the show, in true form didn’t waste any time; he immediately fired off a FOIA request to the Eisenhower Library requesting, “access to all Eisenhower-related UFO-E.T. film footage held” by the institution. Ironically, in what might be called the most expeditious response in FOIA history, a reply was mailed out the very next day (of receipt of the FOIA), maintaining that they “do not hold motion pictures, still photographs, or records of any kind documenting President Eisenhower's alleged inspection of alien bodies or UFOs.”

Pertaining to his recent interview with Noory at C2C, Larry wrote:

At 3:30 a.m. EST, Monday, March 2, 2009, as I was in bed listening to George Noory field calls from his audience, my phone rang. It was producer Tom Danheiser, who asked if I were amenable to joining in for the show's fourth hour (which had been billed by George as a
"breaking news" segment). It turns out that I happened to be the trigger for this "breaking news" - specifically via my recent series of freedom-of-information requests to several federal agencies for access to any Eisenhower UFO-E.T. records they may be harboring. (It had been two years since my last C2C appearance, so I obviously let Tommy know my eagerness to chime in.)

In the ensuing discussion, George led off by endorsing my campaign to tie "caller Bob's" case to the public's growing demand for full governmental disclosure of UFO-E.T. reality. I explained this opportunity by noting that "Bob's" brave - and selfless - step forward gives us "a 'big foot' in the door of UFO secrecy." George took care to note that "Bob" has specified one proviso for his sharing the film's content with C2C upon his imminent return from Europe - i.e., that the C2C organization must refrain from any commercial exploitation of that content. He seeks no financial gain in this matter from anyone or for any reason. Now, what does that tell you about how to proceed with assessing the credibility and other value of "Bob's" story? For my part, I suggested that George photograph the two (incoming) film canisters' insignia and any labels/serial numbers thereon - for later forensic investigation. His plans call for posting a key excerpt from the film footage upon the C2C web site ( http://www.coasttocoastAM.com ).

So, is Bob and the alleged canister of ET/Eisenhower/Hughes film the real deal . . . or is it another prank/hoax aimed at the C2C’s listeners, and subsequently we Ufologists who perk up when such things come to light? Time will tell.

On the other hand, one thing is for certain—Larry Bryant is the real deal, and C2C would do as all a great service in not waiting so long in between visits!
