Earth-Like Planet Found in Nearby Star System?

     (Phys.org)—An Earth-like planet may be lurking in a star system located just 16 light years away, according to a new research. The star, named Gliese 832, was recently investigated by a team of astronomers searching for additional exoplanets that may be residing between the two currently known alien worlds in this system. A paper detailing the finding was published online on Apr. 15 in the arXiv journal.

Gliese 832 is a red dwarf and has just under half the mass and radius of our sun. The star is orbited by a giant Jupiter-like exoplanet designated Gliese 832b and by a super-Earth mass planet Gliese 832c. The gas giant, with a mass of 0.64 Jupiter masses, is orbiting the star at a distance of 3.53 AU, while the other planet is potentially a rocky world, around five times more massive than the Earth, residing very close its host star—about 0.16 AU.

Now, a team of astronomers, led by Suman Satyal of the University of Texas at Arlington, has reanalyzed the available data on this nearby planetary system hoping to find more extrasolar worlds that may be located in a vast space between the two known planets. [...]

UFO Flies by Seattle’s Space Needle

     A Washington witness at Seattle reported watching a square or rectangular-shaped UFO move silently over the Space Needle, according to testimony in Case 75528 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness was outside on an eighth-floor terrace of the Hyatt House Downtown Seattle hotel close to the famous Space Needle structure with four friends at 8 p.m. on March 30, 2016, with mostly clear skies with a bluish, and fading to dark sky.

“As I looked toward the Space Needle, I saw what first seemed like a fast jet coming from the east, heading due west toward Puget Sound, slightly to the north of us,” the witness stated.“Not a sound throughout sighting.”

The witness described the object.

“Hadwo twhite, blinking lights pulsating in unison at approximately 1 Hz, as if each wing, left and right, had a big, white light covering most of the wing surface, but could not discern forward fuselage or tail, hence looked like it was a flying straight wing.” [...]

The witness first thought the object could be an airplane despite the unusual white lights pattern.

“I am familiar with airplanes; am engineer working in aerospace. Could be soundless if it might be much higher than it seemed; for instance, despite white lights flashing, thought they could still be landing lights.”

The witness paid attention to how the object moved.

“The object flew in a straight line while displaying white, pulsating lights, very fast, but at perceived constant linear speed, as it subtended an angle of approximately 45-degrees from my viewpoint and initial spotting. Covered this angle in not more than 10 seconds. Given estimated altitude of twice the height of the Space Needle or more, that would still be very fast for a soundless flight; much too fast for a small drone, or for a helicopter if higher in altitude; yet could not be high enough to be soundless, which would have meant extremely fast.” [...]

     The galaxy’s empire has a new colony. Astronomers have detected a dwarf galaxy orbiting the Milky Way whose span stretches farther than nearly all other Milky Way satellites. It may belong to a small group of galaxies that is falling into our own.

Now, Gabriel Torrealba at the University of Cambridge and his colleagues have found a new galaxy about 380,000 light years away in the constellation Crater. “It’s the fourth largest satellite of the Milky Way,” Torrealba says.

Named the Crater 2 dwarf, the new galaxy is not apparent to human eyes, though individual stars within the galaxy are visible. The team were only able to find it this January by using a computer to look for over-densities of stars in data from images taken by a telescope in Chile.

     When CNN live-streamed my UFOs and Nukes press conference in Washington D.C., on September 27, 2010, I assumed—far too optimistically as it turned out—that the mainstream media would react with sustained interest and finally begin to ask hard questions of less-than-candid government officials. After all, the seven U.S. Air Force veterans who participated in the event had just divulged still-classified information about UFOs shutting down large numbers of nuclear missiles, hovering over nuclear bomb storage bunkers, monitoring still-unfinished ICBM silos, and other incredible incidents during the Cold War era.

The press conference was the culmination of years of investigation into such events that I had begun in earnest in 1973, when I started interviewing U.S. military veterans regarding their involvement in cases where UFOs had demonstrated an obvious interest in nuclear weapons sites.

“Along with another cadet I came at the central parking lot at 3 a.m. and saw a big circle in the sky straight on top off us,” the witness stated.“It had no shape, but only bright lights slowly rotating anti-clockwise and the light points itself didn’t rotate. The colors were in a liquid manner.”

The object was large and the witness wondered exactly what it was.

“I estimate the object about 30 to 50 meters in diameter. The first thing we both thought was a blimp, a zeppelin, the one like Goodyear has with the light screens on the sides. But the fact that it was very low and absolutely stationary and silent made it very, very odd.”

Soon the object began to rotate.

“After some minutes the lights started to rotate faster and suddenly it took off at really incredible speed to the west. A couple of seconds later we felt a short, hard wind blowing which stayed on top of us like a downwash from a helicopter.”

The witness had a clear view of the object.

“If there was a way to describe the speed this thing was going, but I can’t. We had a clear view for over 30 km – that’s 20 miles-plus. This thing covered that distance from stationary in something like 0.10 seconds. I know aviation and have flying experience and I am very technical. This kind of extreme acceleration turns humans into liquid.” [...]

Like any mysterious sphere uncovered in nature — and there are others — Osmanagich's is proving divisive.

Osmanagich, who also goes by Sam, has been "researching prehistoric stone ball phenomenon for 15 years," according to a post he wrote on the ball's discovery. Ike Barker and Jim Carey have given their first in-depth interviews since the incident at RAF Bentwaters, in Suffolk - hailed as the world's best documented case.

Former Head of State Openly Discusses UFOs

     MEXICO CITY - Former president and current presidential candidate Alejandro Toledo shook his country's news media in a press conference when he confessed to discussing UFOs with the international media.

"I was interviewed by CNN on a subject that would be considered outlandish, seemingly proper of the realm of science fiction, but it isn't: extraterrestrials."

As of the end of this edition, this interview has not been made public, and some have described it as an attention-getter in the midst of the country's political season.

When UFO researchers in Peru were asked about these statements, they admitted to not having more information on the subject, but are certain that a number of UFO sightings took place during the term of President Alberto Fujimori from 1990 to 2000.

One of the most memorable ones took place on 7 December 1991 at 21:00 hours, when the presence of a UFO was reported over Laguna de Charo, located in the city of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon. The military staff accompanying the president looked on in bemusement.

"Fujimori as well as the military watched as an enormous object flew over the lagoon before fleeing the area, passing over the witnesses' heads," according to Julio Chamorro, former commander of the Peruvian Air Force.

The retired military man said that following the sighting, Fujimori asked his officers to keep quiet about it, telling them that what they had just seen had never happened.

It was nevertheless a source of much conversation within the Peruvian armed forces, and led to the creation of the first phase of OIFA, the Anomalous Aerial Phenomena Research Office attached to the Peruvian Air Force, which has currently been elevated to departmental status with a well-defined structure, featuring both military and civilian advisors.

Several Latin American presidents have discussed their sightings. It should be remembered that Mexican presidents Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Luis Echeverría and Miguel de la Madrid were very aware of the activities of these strange unidentified flying objects.

It seems that this secret, kept by the political class, is slowly coming to light, giving way to a new era of general openness.

     A Nevada witness at Las Vegas reported watching and videotaping a round UFO with light beaming from the object to the ground level, according to testimony in Case 59760 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witness woke up about 5:30 a.m. on September 12, 2014, and first saw the object.

“As I was walking back to my bedroom I noticed a round ball in the sky that looked similar to the moon, but it had rays of light beaming down from the object,” the witness stated.“One of the rays blinked and that is what caught my attention.”

“I ran to get my phone to record and by the time I got back to the object, the light was slowly ascending into the object while both light and object simultaneously disappeared.”

Nevada State Director Donna Carbone investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.

“The object hovered, glowed, cast light, appeared transparent, and was the shape of a circle,” Carbone stated in her report.“Surface was glowing and had a mist/shroud. Apparent size was unknown and actual size was 31-100 feet. Prominent colors were white, exterior lights flashed randomly and other. Emission was a beam and cloud, and sound is unknown. Elevation is unknown as is lowest altitude. Flight path was stationary and direction first observed was in the west as was direction last observed. No landing observed.”
