“Shortly after pulling up by the school, the occupants of the car saw a bright light that looked like a ball of fire,” Jesse said. “My grandmother was in the back driver’s side of the car, and she said that the light was approaching the car from the rear passenger’s side. They all assumed it was a flash light or car headlight of someone to come open up the door to the school. The light got brighter and it filled the car interior with light. It was so bright, my grandmother said it was as bright as daylight.”

Black Triangle UFOs



Triangle-shaped UFOs have been in the media for the past 20 years or so. Numerous television shows have reported cases from different parts of the U.S. and Western Europe. These craft are usually about the size of a football field and nearly two stories thick.

They are typically reported as having three major glowing orbs on the underside. They are non-reflective and black in color, but they’ve also been reported as glowing orange or yellow. The strangest element is that most reports say that they are unnervingly silent.

The CNY region is not without its reports of these triangle-shaped crafts. Among the earliest-known upstate reports of a triangle craft was in January 1979 in Herkimer. One winter’s night, a snowmobiler who lived in the country went to visit a friend five miles away. He stated that suddenly it became quiet; he couldn’t hear his sled’s engine and the snowmobile’s lights went out. He looked up and could make out the outline of a huge black triangle blocking out the stars. It had no lights and was silent. He said it took about two minutes for it to pass over head. It was perhaps 100 feet off the ground and when it passed under the power lines, arcs began jumping from the wires to the top of the craft. He watched it continue moving away over a hill and then out of sight. When he got home, nobody believed him.

This is a presidential election year, so let’s discuss UFO sightings and politics. Currently, former White House chief of staff John Podesta has been advocating that Hillary Clinton get to the bottom of the UFO disclosure story if she’s elected.

This issue really boils down to research money, and in our system of government analysis, the purse strings are held by Congress. The truth is, getting any kind of serious research done, like the kind that is done by the National Academy of Science, requires congressional support in the form of funding.

UFO Spotted Near Watertown, New York

     On Sept. 28, 2015, a couple from Syracuse witnessed a gray, circular UFO. Ethan and his wife, Shemlynn, were driving on Interstate 81 south and were about nine miles south of the Watertown exit. The couple said that the sky was overcast, with little sunlight still out.

“All of a sudden, Shemlynn pointed out a gray mass in the sky,” he said. “The UFO was circular shaped, and it came twisting out of the clouds for about 5-10 seconds, then receded.”

Shemlynn said that when the UFO came out of the clouds, it seemed unstable or like it was experiencing turbulence.

“The UFO had was making an almost twisting motion.” she said.

Ethan said that the surface texture seemed rough and first took it to be a meteor. The craft then receded to the clouds. The event lasted about 5-10 seconds.

The couple said that the UFO had no lights and was certainly not a weather balloon, as it was much too large. They added that it was not a conventional aircraft. [...]

UFO Sightings: Where is the Proof?

     [...] Before we dismiss these eye witness reports as pure hooey, we need to consider that in courts of law all over our beloved New York State, eye witness testimonies are highly regarded.

North America has about 400 UFO sightings a month, or approximately 4800 a year. On an average month, New York State residents report about 40 UFO sightings, or about 500 per year.

Experts and experienced investigators will say that only a tiny percentage of sighting reports are hoaxes or delusional people. Some sightings turn out to be natural phenomena and others are simple misidentification of other things. On the other hand there is the rather large body of sightings that just can’t be explained. Ultra conservative numbers say it’s about 3 percent. The experts I’ve spoken with said the number of unexplained sightings sits in the 10 – 20 percent range.

What should also be pointed out is that many experts in the field of UFO investigation say many reports of unusual aerial phenomena are made by trained observers, pilots and law enforcement officers. [...]

     They had just returned from a mud run and never expected to see orange-red UFOs!

A couple weeks ago on July 25, a couple of Clinton, NY residents had just participated in a mud run. Tom’s wife Peggy had gone inside their residence, when Tom’s attention was captured by a group of orange-red UFOs. He stopped to take a closer look and thought the occurrence was most strange.

“They were flying in a diamond formation,” Tom said. “But then, even more odd, they were closely followed by another group of three orange-red UFOs flying from Southeast — northward at about 20-30 degrees above the horizon.”

Tom called his wife back outside to witness what he was seeing. ...

     Who knew that a simple winter’s night snowmobile ride would result in the sighting of a black triangle UFO?

     Late October 1989, the weather was seasonal for Syracuse; in other words it was cold and windy. It was a little after midnight, Mark’s dog Ranger wanted a short walk before bedding down. Mark decided to have one last smoke before bed as well. As man and dog leisurely had their midnight stroll, under a clear sky, as Mark was puffing on his cigarette, he became aware of a sound that was increasing in volume.

“It wasn’t too loud but it was gradually increasing in volume. It sounded like a clothes washer.”

Mark looked up and saw a disk-shaped object with two antenna-like assemblies on each side of the object.

“Stunned by what I was looking at, I glanced down at my dog and his attention was also focused on the hovering Saucer Craft above us.”

Mark knew in his heart that this thing was like nothing he’d ever seen before. . . .

     Roger and his family lived in New York City, in the Bronx specifically. It was late June 1966, Roger, his wife, daughter 12 and two sons, ages eight and six, decided to get up before sun rise and hit the open road for a day trip to Pennsylvania. The family of six were traveling south on the Throgs Neck suspension bridge just prior to sunrise.

“We were probably about 2/3 of the way across the bridge, when the entire family witnessed a huge green orb UFO hovering above the bridge. My wife and the two boys were excited, yelling to me to look. I remember that it was so close to the bridge that my daughter began screaming because she thought this orb was going to hit the bridge and knock it down.”

Roger tells us that the entire sighting lasted probably no longer than 30 seconds and no one in the car remembers observing this green orb flying away. He says that it just seemed to disappear. What has bothered Roger all these years is that some of the family members clearly remember the event and other have clearly forgotten it. “I think that it is very odd that something that amazing could be so easily forgotten.“ . . .

A Formation of UFOs Over CNY

Thomas stayed up to watch the 11 O’clock news; he never expected to witness a formation of UFOs instead.

     It was early October 2014 in Mexico, NY. Thomas was getting ready to watch the11 o’clock news before heading to bed. Suddenly the apartment he lives in began to shake with a rumbling sound. The sound was familiar to him; it was the sound of a military helicopter.

“I walked out my back door, there was a very low flying military Black Hawk helicopter chasing three low and glowing flying objects that made no sound.”

Thomas knew that as this Black Hawk had no other reason to be in area and was apparently not searching or looking for anything or anyone, the military craft flying low and was clearly chasing the Unidentified Flying Objects. As the bright formation of UFOs continued on their course, it was obvious to Thomas that the Black Hawk was having a hard time keeping up with them. He says that the formation of UFOs banked from NNE to SSE in an irregular manner that made no sense to him. . . .

V Formation of UFOs – 1954

Who knew that on a lazy summer’s evening, a Long Island family would witness the V Formation of UFOs.

     Harry and his parents lived in Oakdale, NY in the Great Neck river valley area. It was about twilight in mid-July 1954 and Harry’s dad was finishing some yard chores. Young Harry’s mom had just called him in the house to get ready for bed. He tells us that he’d only been inside for a few minutes when his father “burst” into the house yelling, “Everyone come outside quick you have to see this!”

Harry says that when he got outside his dad grabbed him by the shoulders and turned him around abruptly. There to the right of our house up in the black night sky were three luminous disc shaped objects, traveling very slowly from East to West. Harry became so scared that he ran back into the house as fast as he could. His father came right after him. His dad picked him up saying, “…you have to see this… you may never see anything like this again in your life.”

As the two got back outside the discs had moved so that their house obscured their view. Harry’s dad moved over to their driveway to get a better look. Father and son watched and marveled at the sight that they were witnessing. . . .

Diamond-Shaped UFOs Over New York State

     The old saying goes “Diamond are a girl’s best friend” but the question is, what’s with the Diamond UFOs over New York?

It was a little after 9 p.m. on September 27th, 2014 Hank, a Buffalo, NY resident went outside for a cigarette. While gazing at the crystal clear southern sky he observed a diamond UFO traversing the sky.

“As I was watching the object slowly move from east to west, suddenly it stopped and appeared to hover. Then object’s five orange-ish tint lights dimmed briefly and the diamond UFO just winked out and wasn’t seen again.”

In another sighting on Long Island in the town of Commack, NY, a resident was watching television when he noticed a bright light out of his living room window. He tells us that he went outside to his porch to get a better look and saw a bright diamond UFO traveling from North to South. . . .

     Who knew UFO Sightings for 2014 for New York would be continuing an upward trend?

Typically the New York winter months are cold weather with overcast skies, this usually impacts the number of UFO sightings in our lovely state. Surprisingly, January and February sightings logged this year were double the usual amount for the dead of winter. Both national reporting databases showed higher than normal amounts of bright fire ball type UFOs.

March and April sightings were about 25% above normal levels. May, June July, were at the usual levels, but August and September turned out to be the high season for sightings this year, with 13% above normal sighting levels. Add to that October was 59% higher than is common. Finally, November and December were at customary sighting counts for the holiday season. . . .

     Twas the week before Christmas in 1966, when twenty-three-year old Vincent and two pals decided to do a little winter fishing. . . .

. . . The three young men were involved with the art of their fishing when suddenly something strange was spotted in the sky over or near Lake Tiorati deep in the Harriman forests.

Vincent tells us, “Suddenly a rare object of bronze color appeared, making no noise and its size was approximately 6 meters” (diameter).

Twenty-three-year old Vincent snapped four photos. Later the US Air Force – Project Blue Book representatives later did a scant investigation and quickly labeled the sighting photos a hoax. Later the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) studied the photos and interviewed the three men who witnessed the UFO event. NICAP investigators found no evidence of any hoax. . . .

     It was a clear summer evening in 1790. A settler in New York’s Schoharie County was sitting on the porch of his dwelling playing his fiddle. About 9 p.m., a bright shining light appeared in the northern sky with a great roar. He indicates that it grew in intensity until it would have outshown the noonday sun. The resident remarked that the light was so bright that he could have “… picked up pins in every corner.”

The German colonist said he saw what appeared to be a meteor passing west of him at a distance of about 250 yards and about 65 feet above the ground. He states that it kept close to the ground on the other side of the hollow. As the object moved over the countryside, it met with a rise of tall trees and as it did, it rose above them and continued on with the speed of galloping horse. When the object came upon the foot of a noted hill that the Indians called “Owelus Sowless,” it ascended as the ground rose and flew over the hill. The settler said that’s where he lost sight of it. . . .

     A week doesn’t go by that someone steps up to me in a super market line or at my local diner haunt and asks:

“Cheryl are there really a lot of UFOs in New York? Followed by the comment, “I never hear about any.”

My first response typically is, “You should be reading my column every week and yes, there are heaps of UFO sightings.” Then I add, “Did you know that New York State is fifth in the nation for reported UFO sightings!”

This remark usually invokes a look of awe and wonderment. While the truth about UFO sightings numbers amazes people, the implication also tends to make the color drain from their faces.

So let’s talk about the numbers. There are two national UFO databases: MUFON.COM and NUFORC.ORG. For purposes of this article I will be using National UFO Reporting Center or NUFORC data. . . .

     On a winter’s night in 1952, it was pandemonium at a Girls Club when they all saw a Flying Saucer.

“I was eleven years old when this happened,” Diane says. . . .

. . . Diane described the object as self-illuminated; “It had a harvest moon orange color sort of appearance. No other lights were visible.”

She explains that the object drew closer and enlarged in size, “then it flipped or sort of rolled over, I saw this whole thing very clearly, when it sort of turned over or revolved horizontally it appeared as a disk and approached us very quickly and stopped in the sky about 45 degrees up from the south horizon.”

Diane says the object was totally silent. She further states that it was like an orange football or blimp shape with portholes around the middle, and it appeared solid. . . .

     It was a few days after the 4th of July of 1960, the day a UFO Circled the Empire State Building.

Tom was a broadcast engineer in New York City. He worked on the 16th floor of a building on West 50th/51st Street next to the Taft Hotel.

Tom says he first noticed the object simply as a black dot in the sky coming from the southwest on a northeasterly course. Of course Tom was puzzled by what he was watching for nearly ten minutes. Then a colleague in an adjoining studio area hollered, “What the hell is that thing?”

The two men watched with great interest as the black object drew closer while seeming to maintain altitude. Tom tells us, “The object itself was spherical, and it was flat black with no windows. It was about 16 feet tall and not quite as wide. It had winglets that sloped down from the middle as it also sloped up from the middle. The object undulated from side to side at a constant rate throughout. About twenty or so degrees one way and then tilted the same in the other direction.” . . .
