     A Scottish council has banned sky lanterns on its property and its events after the NFU Scotland wrote a letter about their impact on livestock farmers.

The union said it would welcome both personal and public use of the lanterns being banned as they are a 'fire risk' and could be dangerous to livestock.

Stephen McCabe, leader for Inverclyde Council said the lanterns can cause huge damage both to the environment and to animals.

He said: "They can also put an unnecessary strain on the emergency services with people confusing them as distress flares or even UFO’s and calling 999.

      A UFO shaped like a triangle of lights has been caught on camera flying above San Diego.

The phenomenon has become known as 'Black Triangle' sightings because of their dark shape.

The video, which has been shot during the night, clearly shows a formation of lights floating above someone’s house.

If you look closely you can see the lights make up a triangular shape, similar to large objects that have been seen before. [...]

      UFO, drone, helicopter or just simply a mystery?

What was that in the skies over San Diego?

Mar Vista High School Sophomore Garret Conder was watching the Chargers game with his family last Thursday night, Sept. 3, when at approximately 8:10 p.m. his older brother Robert Peraza yelled from outside “You guys got to see this.”

Conder described what happened next: “We all ran outside. It was the most credible piece of UFO evidence I had ever seen. In the south east sky it was a diamond shaped object. Goldish-yellow lights. Very bright, not blinking like aircraft lights. I’ve never seen anything like it. My jaw dropped. I was flabbergasted. The lights were in a weird formation, flying above and below each other. [...]

Conder, speculating that it might be of an extra-terrestrial origin, immediately turned to social media, “Tweeting” to the world what he had just witnessed. Others responded that they had seen the same thing, some posted pictures, one person with the screen name @BigKidGeorge from National City posted a short video clip. [...]

     Austrian officials say they are baffled to explain a UFO sighting in which dozens of people reported seeing between 50 and 100 objects flying in formation.

The incident happened over the Aichfeld basin near the city of Knittelfeld in the southern Austrian state of Styria where eyewitness Juergen Trieb, 41, and his girlfriend Waltraud Kaliba, 40, managed to take this snap before the high speed objects vanished.

Waltraud said: "At first we thought it might be some kind of natural phenomenon, but when we realise they were flying in formation and travelling around 400 mph it was clear that it could not be dismissed as something natural. The strange thing was that despite the bright lights there was no noise at all from the objects."

Local media reported that the images as taken in this snap were seen by several people, and that there were between 50 and 100 of them all flying silently and in formation. . . .

    The phenomenon of mysterious lights appearing in the night sky has returned to the U.S., specifically the Cincinnati, Ohio, area this past weekend, puzzling witnesses who recorded the event.

John Maisel shot videos Saturday night at 9:45 p.m. as he and 20 others from two neighboring families witnessed red and white lights floating over their homes in Greenhills, Ohio, a town 20 miles north of Cincinnati.

“What are those?” says a voice in one of the videos.

“Could be a drone,” says another.

“A rocket light!” yells one child.

“It might be the angels,” states one witness.

“It might be a little alien,” whispers another.

“This is kind of scary,” says a youngster.

“No, it’s cool,” comes a response.

“We saw over a period of 15 to 20 minutes at least 14 of these and I was able to record three of them,” Maisel told WND. “Each came from the same place on the northern horizon, flew south until they hit between 90 and 120 degrees and then disappeared.”

“Each light moved in a smooth straight line,” Maisel continued, with each “dead silent” light taking “about 1.5 to 2 minutes to get across the sky and blink out.”

     ORANGEVALE - A discovery by an Orangevale woman may have cracked the case of the mysterious lights over Sacramento on New Year's Eve.

"I actually found it New Year's morning and I didn't know what it was. I have never seen anything like it before," said Cathy Adams.

Adams says upon further research, she discovered the object was a sky lantern, the object many people claimed to be mistaken for U.F.O.s on New Year's Eve.

Adams said she reviewed internet and news reports and concluded what people saw all over the state were sky lanterns.

She said she doesn't know who released them, but she believes they could be a fire danger. . . .

     It’s a bird . . . It’s a plane . . . No it’s . . ..

What is that illuminated thing flying up over the top of my house?

That’s a question that a lot of Manteca residents asked on New Year’s Eve when they stepped outside and saw the strange sight of what appeared to be illuminated orbs floating through the night sky.

They were definitely flying objects. But whether they were unidentifiable or not depending on who was looking at them – the same strange lights were reported as far south as Hollywood and as far north as Sacramento.

Several Bulletin readers were able to get a good look at them and most believe that they were nothing more than a series of floating luminaries – wish lanterns – that were being raised progressively over the course of several minutes as the clock approached midnight.

“I saw them too – they were definitely luminaries,” wrote Michelle Andreetta. “I even said, ‘Imagine if those are UFOs,’ because they totally were not UFOs. I even watched one flame out.”

Deanna Uecker said that she didn’t get the chance to snap a picture, but noted that with “100 percent confidence” the lights were luminaries.

“One flew right over us and there was no mistaking what it was.”

And apparently there was more than one source. . . .

     UFO sightings in Sweden lit up New Year’s Day, causing the alien hunters to investigate.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, many reported UFO sightings in California in the same time frame although the FAA didn’t see anything.

UFO Investigator Tobias Lindgren of the non-profit group UFO-Sweden claims UFO sightings are common during New Year’s:
“A lot of the reports during New Year are triggered by the Thai lanterns. Every year, I investigate between 50 and 60 sightings. I expect to have a lot to do this year, too. People think the lanterns are UFOs, but I recognize them immediately. Some people are very relieved when they find out."
UFO-Sweden claims their objective is to “turn the UFO subject into an established and respected field of research.”

Sweden’s UFO sightings probably should have lessened this year because the government implemented a new law regulating the release of hot air lanterns:
“Since November 1, Swedes no longer need a permit to launch the hot air born lanterns into the night sky. Anyone living within 100 metres of any of the main airports, however, must warn flight control they want to send the Khom Loy lanterns skywards.” . . .

We pulled over at about 9pm to film these four lights floating around the sky. All four were pretty close to the ground and eventually disappeared.

They didn't do a lot, but were amazing to watch!

    UFO’s in San Antonio. There have been two different sightings on two different days this week. It was captured on video by a man shot Sunday night near the Castroville Road on the West Side. It shows orbs of light hovering in the sky for nearly thirty minutes.

A day later another woman spotted colorful lights over the Leon Valley area. Both believe they witnessed UFO's.

"It was scary," said Irene Trujillo. "But it was awesome too at the same time. Because you're like seeing something; not knowing if you're going to get zapped."

A representative for Joint Base San Antonio says it wasn't any of their aircraft. . . .

A WIGAN man claims to have seen martians meandering through the skies over Marsh Green.

      The man, who doesn’t wish to be named, spotted a mysterious object last night (Tuesday) and was so stunned he whipped out his mobile phone and filmed it.

“It was big and orange and moving oddly - it wasn’t a plane or helicopter and it looked too big to be one of those chinese lantern things. I don’t know what it was. Perhaps it was martians, who knows?

“It was late - about quarter past eleven - and I was just going to bed when I saw it out the corner of my eye.”

There have been numerous sightings of strange objects over the skies of Wigan during the last decade - some easily explained, some not so. . . .

      GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - A Greenville woman saw unidentified lights in the sky on Friday and she pulled out her camera to get some footage.

The woman said she saw the five amber colored floating orbs in the sky while she was looking at the Harvest Moon with her boyfriend.

The woman, Julie Jordan, and her boyfriend, Jeremy Hanks, said they were curious as to what the lights were. They spotted the lights in the sky above their home off East North Street.

FOX Carolina meteorologist Andy Wood reached out on a National Weather Service chat room about the lights. A person in the chat suggested the lights might be Chinese lanterns. . . .

     An unusual formation of illuminated objects appeared in the night sky Saturday over Sonoma County, prompting nearly a dozen motorists in Petaluma to pull off the road and gawk at the display.

Jake Marble of Petaluma was heading south on Highway 101 sometime between 9:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday when he saw what appeared to be a moving formation in the southern sky that resembled the Big Dipper constellation of stars.

The lighted orbs appeared to be flying at the typical height of an airplane, although they did not appear to be typical aircraft, Marble said.

He and his wife exited at Petaluma Boulevard South and parked, joining a throng of drivers who stopped to watch the mysterious display.

“It was almost a scene from a movie. People had pulled off the road haphazardly and were looking up, amazed at what was happening,” Marble said.

The small flickering lights appeared from above the Quarry Heights hill in the southwestern sky, traveled to the southeast toward the moon and disappeared, Marble said. . . .

      Whatever it was over the skies of Tucson, Ariz. and Kansas City, Mo., eyewitnesses in both cities agree -- it was quite a show.

Unusual displays of lights were reported in both cities on Saturday night, giving rise to UFO chatter.

According to one eyewitness, identified as Cbazz on YouTube: "My family and I witnessed these strange amber lights in Tucson on our way home from dinner. There were seven or eight of them crossing the sky, some solo and others in pairs flying very, very close together.


Several eyewitnesses saw and videotaped similar objects in the sky -- but this time, they were flying over Kansas City, Mo.

"Not for sure what they are, but I got several videos of them and pics. Looks like a UFO fleet!?" wrote YouTube poster jemnich1, who was contacted by another witness, GoGraveside, who sent this message on YouTube: "I really hope you get to investigate this incident. I was in the same vicinity and recorded the same lights on my cell phone. There were 3 additional passengers in my vehicle at the time who witnessed the 'lights' as well."

So, what were these folks looking at from different parts of the country? Or does it just get buried in those numerous reports that are never adequately explained?

     My family and I witnessed these strange amber lights in Tucson on our way home from dinner. There were seven or eight of them crossing the sky, some solo, and others in pairs flying very very close together. We know these objects were not far from us because my parents live on the other side of what Tucsonans refer to as "Cat Mountain" so they could not have been too far away at the height they were flying or they would have been obstructed by the mountain.

These object were silent. Living in this part of the country we often hear fighter jets from the Air Force base, but we are used to that and it is always recognizable and very loud. This was not that. . . .
