Disc-Shaped Craft 'Escorted' a Police Car in Poland

The UFO Chronicles
1-3-16

In early January 2013 a pair of police officers from Opole region spotted strange, morphing aerial light that, as it turned out, emanated from luminous disc-shaped object. Exotic craft accompanied their car all the way back to the station. Frightened and disoriented officers reported close encounter to their principals but soon learned that “they must be exhausted and hallucinating”. Polish policemen rarely report their UFO encounters but when they do, their reports are astonishing ones.

On January 8th a pair of Police officers from Opole region (southwestern Poland) was returning from a night intervention. Their task was to calm down an aggressive drunkard in one of the villages lost amongst forested farmlands. When the job was done, they began to head back to their station located dozen kilometers away. It was about 4 am when their Kia Ceed was calmly running lone road. All of a sudden they noticed some bright lights in the distance that hovered over nearby forest. This prologue may sound prosaic but the rest of the story is much more extraordinary… and complicated.

Principals became concerned

Both witnesses serve in regional police station in one of the cities in Opole area. The main witness, Mr. M., requested anonymity fearing that his openness toward strange incident might influence his career. His concerns weren’t baseless. When on January 8th both witnesses arrived on their home station, they were immediately interrogated about such a long time of their intervention. It turned out that the way back took them about two hours. Stunned by the strange occurrence, without hesitation they reported the encounter with strange aerial device to the staff officer. This honest step induced some strange behavior of their principals.

Mr. M. remembers that after arriving to the station his patrol partner, Mrs. J., felt dizzy. Though he was all right he could remind that just after the appearance of the strange craft his organism also reacted in a strange way. For a moment his sight became blurry. It was about 4 am when along with Mrs. J. he noticed some light in the sky. At first they took it for mobile tower but the luminous object was apparently approaching their car. Soon it stationed over a groove of trees located about a kilometer from the road. Orange-yellowish “thing” was morphing and changing colors.

Mr. M. said that the arrival of UFO fulfilled his partner words. Just several minutes before seeing the light the woman had told him that “something is in the air”. Mrs. J. was anxious-excited: “She had repeated this sentence several times before the light appeared” - the policeman recounts. “When the object appeared in the horizon, we decided to stop and go out of the car to examine it. From the distance it looked like a ball and then changed shape into crescent-like.” He added that just a while before he could feel as if time slowed for a moment. But it was a matter of seconds. During the next stage of the encounter Mrs. M. and his partner were totally conscious.

Dropping orbs and the video

The officers stopped and watched the light maneuvering over a nearby field. The sight was strange: “It was moving soundlessly, with no noise that should be generated by engine or rotor of the flying machine. At some point the object began ejecting something resembling ‘balls of light’. Some were disappearing in their way down to the ground, other were returning to the UFO. Suddenly from the below of the craft there emanated a ‘flash’ resembling that of a stroboscope” - the witness said adding that for a second a patch of land was illuminated.

According to Mr. M. it was possible to distinguish the shape of the craft hull. But darkness, strange feelings and appearance of exotic object forced the witnesses to drove off the scene. To their amazement, after a while UFO began to move in parallel with their car, staying in the constant distance of about a kilometer. Despite strong concerns and unnatural fear, Mr. M. stopped the car in the next village trying to record the object with his cell phone camera.

“The UFO was in shape of a disc, with a kind of small ‘dome’ on the top. It was emitting blinding, yellow light (occasionally turning orange). At the bottom, three smaller white-bluish ‘balls’ could be seen. In my opinion they were ‘engines’ but there were no sounds at all” - the witness reported.

It was 4:32 am when Mr. M. took a short video showing a dim light in the distance. It’s the only one visual documentation of the incident. Strongly agitated Mrs. J. tried frantically to catch the disc with her phone camera but nothing interesting appears on her photos. Accomplished evidences seem not satisfying for such a spectacular case and Mr. M. is aware of this fact: “That situation was totally unexpected and we weren’t prepared for UFO encounter. I wish I could go closer to that object. It is clear to me now, when all the emotions ceased.”

The UFO recording of Mr. M. was made public but in muted version due to witnesses’ request. In the original material we can hear excited voiced of both officers commenting the “UFO” appearance. They also tried to open the car window to check whether the object emits any noticeable sounds but only dog barking could be hear in the distance. In the video Mr. M. stresses that the quality of the recording is weak. Registered material reveals only a bright lump of light hovering in the distance, against the dark sky background. On some still frames one can see an outline of an elongated, bright object.

Time confusion

Mr. M. said that during the incident he thought about noticing the staff officer as well other patrol cars about the strange object. “After short discussion with my partner we decided to stay calm. Too many units could hear our report so everyone can imagine the consequences… People are rather skeptical and we don’t want more problems” - he added. It was another instance of tabooing UFO encounters made by staff of emergency services, Police and Polish Army. Mr. M. is a very rare case of public servant who decided to reveal his experiences, despite his concern about the consequences. Therefore we decided not to reveal his name and the exact place of the sighting in case report.

It’s also interesting that Mr. M. claims that during three stops when the witnesses decided to inspect the object closer, the UFO seemed to withdraw deeper over the fields. In his opinion the object hovered about 60 meters over the ground but exact size of the craft was hard to estimate. Mr. M. said it was at least dozen of meters in length but it was hard to find any reference points. In the whole affair there is another one mystery. The witness stated that they observed the craft for about 90 minutes but it seemed too long comparing with the time necessary for them to pass the distance to their home station.

Mr. M. added that he also was somewhat confused realizing that the incident lasted for about two hours. This shortening of time might be a result of highly stressing situation or the curious onlookers might get lost in their observation. Another possible scenario is that the driver became disoriented and chose a wrong way; causing the patrol car to wander along some deserted village roads (Mr. M. stated that this may be the point). But it’s also tempting to propound another hypothesis that links the mentioned “time confusion” with Mrs. J.’s dizziness after the encounter. Anyway, for now there are no direct clues for the policemen involvement in “missing time” episode.

“You’re dog-tired!”

The patrol lost UFO from view in vicinity of K. village. According to Mr. M.’s report, the disc withdrew over nearby fields and then disappeared over the horizon. About 6 am, when both policemen returned to their station, they decided to report their experience to principals but as Mr. M. said, the duty officer at first burst with laugh and then neglected their story: “He said that I’m dog-tired and hallucinating. The same was with other high officers. They tried to persuade us that we saw balloons or birds…”

Nevertheless, the strange report about exotic “thing” probably induced some concern amongst higher officials since Mr. M. was informed that chief officer needs to talk with him. But after some time the case was hushed up as if nothing had happened on January 8th! Moreover, the personal situation of the female witness, Mr. J., whose husband worked in the same station, prompted her to keep silence over the incident. But what’s interesting, after some gossips about UFO encounter dissipated, Mr. M. was contacted with other officers who also saw strange things on their night duties.

Mr. M. stated that on January 8th he didn’t meet on the deserted village road with any other cars. But it’s quite possible that some inhabitants of the region (as farmers waking up early to tend their animals or people on their way to work) might also catch a glimpse of the strange aerial device. But six moths after the incident we still have no confirming reports (although the case was covered by big local newspaper in Opole region). We are well aware that the case might remain unsolved but it’s good to know that officers as Mr. M. are always on alert in reporting every suspected thing, even that with no right to existence according to his principals opinion.

Addendum: Polish Policemen see UFOs

Polish national media and web portals usually don’t report UFO incidents although it is a very popular topic. UFO reports from Polish police officers are also rarity but the case from Opole region showed that many other encounters may be not disclosed due to witnesses’ fear of ridicule. But the real cause of tabooing UFO reports amongst policemen is that there is no official procedure concerning unidentified objects and phenomena. In other words, an ordinary officer who sees UFO doesn’t know how to react.

Mr. M. said that he talk with some colleagues who also got unusual experiences. One of them wrote us a report concerning his UFO sighting in vicinity of Otmuchowskie Lake in 2008. He recounts: “At about 2 am, over Sarnowice, I saw a row of about 15 red lights. Along with my partner I decided to hide our car in darker spot [for the object not to see us]. But then some of the lights went off and other ones change their positions and began to move away in various directions.”

Another one interesting story from Police officer was reported to us several years ago. It also took place in Opole region, precisely in Daniec area. The witness, Mr. Z., wrote: “Unfortunately, I don’t remember the exact date. It was June or July 1997. From the duty officer we got a call that some drunken man was sticking people with an axe in a village in Opole area. It was an emergency, so we rushed with the siren going.”

Mr. Z. reported that just before their destination place, his partner heard a call of nature so they stopped the car on the side of the road: “I also went out to straighten my neck. Suddenly I saw those objects and in the same moment my colleague screamed: ‘UFO!” I saw two bright orbs flying in the air 300 meters away from the car. They weren’t discotheque lights or lanterns. They were flying with high speed, stopping, accelerating and making sharp turns. We stood there in awe! I was glad I wasn’t there alone. During the sighting one of the orbs neared us and stayed dozen of meters away. The other one remained over the field and then - as for command - both of them departed in just a second. I know that they were intelligent.”

Earlier but equally spectacular report comes from Mr. Jerzy M. - former officer of Citizens Militia (state police institution in Poland before 1989): “It was winter 1978 but the exact date got lost in my mind. It was about 2 am. […] I was patrolling area between Ornontowice and Chudów checking if the stores were properly shut down. I was in way from Ornontowice to Chudów. The night was beautiful, with no clouds in the sky. Temperature oscillated around -5 degrees. […] I was standing on the roadside when my attention was drawn to my dog strange behavior. […] Automatically I looked up hearing also some unfamiliar sound. Then I perceived something completely out-of-place.”

The officer reported that he saw a black, oblong object with some “windows”. He also got feeling that someone is staring at him: “It wasn’t a plane. It looked like a hull of An-22 but without wings. There were no sounds at all, despite slight ‘whirring’. […] Then I saw it against the sky background, from different perspective. The object looked like a dark ring. Afraid that it could be a damaged plane that is going to crash, I rushed to local bakery to phone to the duty officer from Gierałtowice.”

As in other cases, the witness soon learned from his chief that he must be kidding: “After returning Gierałtowice police station, I even phoned the night guard at Gliwice airport asking if there were any night landings scheduled. But he also scoffed me saying that I must be drunk!”

Wave of Flying Triangles and Boomerangs Over Poland: UFOs or Secret NATO Crafts?

The UFO Chronicles
10-19-14

In 2013-14 Polish UFO researchers received numerous reports about unidentified aerial devices in form of triangles and boomerangs. Being silent, often camouflaged and active only at night, those objects were breaking basic safety rules and posing potential danger to citizens. Numerous anomalous elements mentioned by witnesses are paired with fact that most sightings took place in vicinity of large military installations. That arise question whether we deal with something of human origin, connected with civil war on Ukraine or the new face of UFO phenomenon.

Increased activity of triangular/boomerang-shaped UFOs in Poland began in the spring 2013 although occasional sightings of the same characteristics took place in earlier years. A debate about origins of those objects was born amongst Polish UFO researchers. Unfortunately mainstream TV, press and officials (both civil and military) keep silent despite fact that many incidents took place in close vicinity of military installations and some witnesses were of army background.

In the course of sightings analyses two main hypotheses appeared. They were partially based on works on famous Belgian UFO wave as well as NIDS reports about the triangular/boomerang-shaped unidentified flying objects.

First hypothesis assume that those objects are secret American aircrafts tested or operating over Poland (it’s rather impossible that such sophisticated machines would be constructed and deployed by Polish Army). The idea is backed by fact that some earlier US covert operations, involving amongst other secret CIA prisons, were conduced on Polish territory. Moreover, the recent tensions in Ukraine (bordering Poland to the east) and increasing number of US Army corps in Poland suggest that those crafts may be of military origin (though it must be remembered that the wave began circa half-a-year before the conflict).

Second hypothesis focuses on anomalous features of mentioned objects and their strange appearance which makes them similar in nature to UFO objects. Triangles/boomerangs manifest themselves in various forms (in fact each one is different) and display flight characteristics unlike any conventional crafts (involving extraordinary maneuvers, acceleration and lack of sound). Some were reported to deploy a kind of "flawed masking" - in effect more attention-catching than camouflaging. But the most important and worrying aspect is that with elusive, uncontrollable, nocturnal activity those objects, appearing mostly over inhabited areas, pose possible danger.

Summary of Sightings:

The following summary lists the most interesting sightings of triangular/boomerang-shaped UFOs from period 2013-2014 and includes also four earlier cases worth of attention. They were reported to: Piotr Cielebias and Michał Kusnierz, Arkadiusz Miazga, Damian Trela, Arkadiusz Kocik and Bogdan Zabielski. The summary was compiled from reports and witness accounts published or archived by mentioned researchers.
• Sandomierz (swietokrzyskie), October 31st 2008, 6:10 pm: An architect, Piotr G., coming out his parents’ home noticed very fast, boomerang-shaped object high in the sky. "It came from south-east and in total silence headed in north-western direction. I think that it was about 330000 ft over ground. Its rims seemed hazy, as if camouflaged. I could compare its structure to dirty, waving water. The object corpus seemed to be surrounded with a kind of white-red ‘field’. It was dotted with numerous point lights also red in color" - he said. The object was "enormous" and in witness’ opinion was undoubtedly of "technological nature". What’s more, nearly the same thing was witnessed about a week later in Aarhus by Polish émigré, Mrs. K.C., who went outside to smoke a cigarette and saw a huge object moving slowly overhead. Its structure seemed "jelly-like". The woman was accustomed with military planes since she worked at a military base in Northern Poland before moving to Denmark. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias and Michal Kusnierz)

• Wikłow area, (lodzkie), September 16th 2010, 22:30: Michal D. and his fiancée were driving a highway from Czestochowa to Radomsko. Despite nighttime, the road was trafficked. Suddenly a dark triangular object about 30 ft wide appeared over the road remaining at altitude of about 450 ft. First glances ensured the witness that the object was "disabled": "From behind a small elevation a black triangle appeared having lights in the corners. At first I took it for a landing plane but there’s no airfield in the area. It was moving really slowly. Two of the lights were steady but one blinked as if ‘broken’. When I passed under the object (it was hovering over the road so it became inevitable), I had an opportunity to look at its ‘propulsion system’ and structure. It wasn’t smooth at all but covered with ‘appendages’ (dice-like amongst others) protruding from its underside" - Michał D. reported. In his opinion the craft "propulsion system" was composed of three round nozzles that emitted out a "curved light or flame" (illuminating the craft from below). In the meantime the witness woke up his fiancée informing her about the phenomenon. As he noticed, other drivers were slowing their cars to admire the odd manifestation.

One other independent witness confirmed the event. (Reported to: Arkadiusz Miazga, Piotr Cielebias, Michal Kusnierz).

• Poznan, Lazarz district (wielkopolskie), February 14th, 6 pm: The following case is disputable although include a photo of possible triangular object taken from the distance. The man claims to see a gray-dark, triangular object hovering low over neighboring housing estate: "At first I take it for illusion of some kind. It was at dusk. The weather was good with cirrus clouds at high altitude. The region of the sky with triangle was clear" - he admitted. The witness took two photos showing blurry object. He claims that then the triangle moved in his direction and when it departed, two F16 from Krzesiny AFB appeared. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias, Michal Kusnierz).

• Hrubieszow (lubelskie), August 20th 2011, before 5 pm: Very detailed report form an anonymous witness who showed considerable orientation in aerial and military technologies, contained description and drawings of unidentified triangular object hovering over city peripheries: "I saw triangular object over western horizon, made of some kind of silvery metal. It was rotating around its axis but didn’t change position. Basing on set of estimations and comparisons I assume the minimal length of its side to more than 45 ft. It was about 1,5-1,8 mile away and still seemed big" - the witness mentioned. Hrubieszów sighting contained a high-strange detail - the object disappearance that according to observer looked as if the object was gradually "imploding". (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias, Michal Kusnierz)

• Biala (dolnoslaskie), April 2013, evening: A young man performing domestic duties went outside seeing a formation of three lights rising up from behind nearby trees. "That thing rose up at dozen of meters in the air and stopped. After a while the object began to change its position and then I could clearly see that it was in a form of isosceles triangle" - the said. The witness called his wife who also saw the lights departing toward Chojnow. (Reported to: Damian Trela).

• Lubliniec (slaskie), August 3rd 2013, ~ 10 pm: Very emotional report came from a Lubliniec woman who went outsider with her dog and observed large (circa 60 ft wide) boomerang-like object passing slowly over her estate. The UFO was fully camouflaged but its pass across the starry sky was noticeable: "I returned home at about 10 pm and immediately went outside with my dog. I perceived a movement in the sky. Because there are no lanterns, the sky was perfectly visible. Generally, ‘it’ was moving very slow and low over the ground. Complete lack of sound left me in awe. Object lights seemed dim and their color was the same as that of stars; they also were set symmetrically. The object corpus color was identical as that of the sky. Therefore at first I thought the thing was transparent" - she said. The mentioned craft wasn’t a "perfect boomerang" but possessed a "bulge" in the rear part (between arms). The camouflage was described as "movie-like". The estate of apartment houses where the sighting took place is inhabited by numerous soldiers from Special Force Base in Lubliniec. (Reported to Piotr Cielebias and Michal Kusnierz)

• Losice (mazowieckie), August 3rd 2013, ~ 10 pm: It’s one of rare rural sightings. Losice lies closely to eastern border of Poland which is also NATO boundary. It was witnessed by young, reliable couple on a dacha: "Big object was flying low over the ground remaining soundless. It was surely a single object because there was a patch of ‘darkness’ in the sky - some kind of matter obscured the stars. We were far from city glow and it was quiet around. We noticed the object at the same moment. We don’t know what it was. Its structure, movement and lack of sounds prompted me to assume that it was a UFO" - said one of the witnesses, Mr. Rafal K. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias, Michal Kusnierz)

• Dobrzykowice (dolnoslaskie), August 3rd 2013, ~ 11 pm: Dobrzyowice sighting was the last from a series of three that took place on August 3rd between 10 and 11 pm in various part of Poland. Differences between witnesses’ descriptions suggest that they weren’t caused by a single craft. Dobrzykowice sighting was witnessed by an engineer and astronomy passionate: "I saw a row of lights moving at high altitude. Those nine points formed a clear array. One was at the front, while each arm was composed of four lights. Their brightness was comparable to that of satellite" - he said. (Reported to: Damian Trela)

• Elizowka (lubelskie), August 14th 2013: Very intriguing report came from Mr. Karol - an amateur astronomer who in lengthy e-mail reported seeing a triangular object unlike other mentioned ones. The "craft" probably was heading into higher parts of the atmosphere and was observed with telescope: "The top of that triangle was oriented up […]. I saw some other details while watching the object gaining altitude. It was in shape of isosceles triangle which color and ‘oscillations’ looked like flames. The object was crimson red and there was a symmetrically set, golden isosceles triangle inscribed into it. Both didn’t change positions during the sightings so I assumed it must be a single object or two firmly joined together" - he added. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias, Michał Kusnierz).

• Pabianice (lodzkie), October 13th 2013, midnight: "I went to balcony to smoke a cigarette when I saw a strange thing in the sky. It was like stars - yellow lights that were quickly passing over Pabianice from north-east (i.e. from Lodz to Lask). That thing looked like a row of stars with hazy, watered glow around (shaped like a boomerang of enormous size). It lasted just 5-7 seconds. […] The object looked like a boomerang or parachute (something of this kind) - it seemed curved, rounded and as if partially transparent. No material outline but rather haze or fog indicating that shape was recognizable" - reported Mr. Mateusz - a man in his 30s living in blocks in Pabianice center. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias and Michał Kusnierz)

• Goldap (warminsko-mazurskie), April 26th 2013, 1:30 am: The witness - introducing himself as military officer, said he accidentally perceived a strange "craft" passing over cirrus levels in Goldap. The object resembled the letter "V" with a blunt end, moving with the opened part ahead. On the object hull were positioned some lamps changing colors from light-green and blue to yellow and violet. The man was shocked with the object size and possibility that "such amazing thing is cruising across Polish skies". The soundless object remained in his sight for about 150 seconds. It’s worth to note that the region where the sighting took place, located by Russian border, is known from sightings of unusually shaped crafts in previous years, with another triangle seen in 2003 in Bartoszyce. (Reported to: Bogdan Zabielski).

• Szczecin (zachodniopomorskie), middle of May, ~ 11 pm: "Wrapped in blankets, we were observing the sky hoping to see meteorites. We sat in the middle of the garden and stared in north-western sky and that was the direction the object was heading to. It was soundless and passed over us. [...] It looked as if ‘plasmatic’. Its frontal part seemed sharp and there were some ‘shadows’ of circular points on the sides that we took for lamps of some kind. I was stunned with that sight and so was my daughter. After a while two military jets followed. [...] Basing on visual estimations, it was about three times bigger than them. The object seemed transparent and only its contours appeared as if illuminated by some unknown source of light" - said the female witness. (Reported to: Arkadiusz Miazga).

Grudziadz (kujawsko-pomorskie), August 3rd 2014, 2 am: "I woke up and went to the balcony to get some cooling. After a while I saw a moving satellite, then another two - small points of light moving across the sky" - wrote the witness who at about 2 am saw unusual thing - large, dark, triangular object followed strapped to another, plate-like UFO. "It was 2000-2500 ft in the air. I saw it for circa two seconds. It was two times bigger than ultra-light planes often taking off from the local airfield but 3-4 times quicker. It came soundlessly" - the observer added. It’s worth to mention that nearly identical sighting took two days earlier in Zory (slaskie) but the report is less detailed. (Reported to: Arkadiusz Miazga).

• Legnica (dolnoslaske), August 6th 2014, 11 pm: "My mum went to the balcony to watch falling stars. After a while she said to me that she saw a brilliant object […] and then noticed huge ‘shadow’ similar in shape to bird silhouette. She saw in the sky a triangular object made of tiny amber-colored (or reddish), non-blinking lights. […] It was bigger than an airplane and was very high in the sky. After a while the thing shot with tremendous speed, overtook one of the falling stars and disappeared. It all lasted just some seconds" - the witness reported. The mentioned object was similar to an arrowhead and got an additional ‘line’ between two outer arms.

• Piekary Slaskie, Brzozowice district (slaskie), September 20th 2014, ~8 pm: Mrs. G. who went to light out a cigarette during family meeting, noticed very strange object nearly just above her: "Suddenly I saw a passing plane but one that was strangely illuminated. I thought that it would take down in Pyrzowice but the alleged plane was approaching me in total silence. […] It came just over me. It was a big triangle. It soon flew away but after a while… stopped, came back and hovered above. At first I began to laugh […] and after some time it came to me that it must be something highly unusual. I run for my daughter but upon returning, the craft was gone" - she reported adding that the object was as big as "two passenger airplanes" and possessed deep red lights along its perimeter. There was also a "pillar of light" coming from its underside. (Reported to: Piotr Cielebias and Michał Kusnierz).

There were also other sightings, some made from distance and other very short but perplexing. Such a sighting took place on September 9th 2013 in Sokolka where two men standing on balcony saw only seconds-long pass of flying triangle dotted with lights. Other reports involved objects of unusual shapes but comparable to planes (one such a thing was seen just on September 25th 2014, in Lublin, not so far from Ukrainian border; the object in size of F16 - according to the witness, traveled just 300 ft over the ground but at some point departed with enormous speed). The real scale of triangle/boomerang UFOs sightings remains unknown because the matter is not covered in mainstream media and probably only some witnesses decide to report their sightings.
Conclusions

Triangular/boomerang UFO sightings raise several serious problems including: origin of those objects, their connection to military installations, their anomalous behaviors and possible danger posed to citizens due to safety rules transgressions.

Already nonexistent NIDS research group (led by dr. Kelleher) tried to solve part of those problems putting forward some hypotheses. One suggested that flying triangles/boomerangs form a new, special family of secret military devices (perhaps advanced blimps) used for transportation. But the great diversity amongst objects and somewhat reckless tactics of their operators, made that hypothesis flawed. Conclusions of NIDS reports about exotic aerial machines are comparable with our observations: those objects are both elusive and manifestation prone; surely they aren’t prototypes and from unknown reasons they tend to appear over inhabited areas. In other words, despite their quasi-familiar technological form, they remain highly anomalous.

Despite of those facts, one still can find some arguments for boomerang/triangles military origins. Amongst the mentioned sightings, many took place in vicinities of military bases (Sandomierz, Poznan, Hrubieszow, Lubliniec, Grudziadz). The current situation in Ukraine may prompt some NATO decisions connected with relocation some of top secret flying machines used in both transportation and surveillance to Poland. The weak point of those allegations and connections with Ukraine is that exotic crafts were seen mostly in western and central parts of the country and (most importantly) that we find no recognizable "types" or tactics amongst objects.

Assessing the mentioned reports from military-technological perspective one would be also shocked by the total lack of care by those who operate the machines literally just over the people’s heads. Providing that military possess such a superb technology, it’s hard to believe that they would risk and fly over city centers and housing estates. Proponents of the mentioned hypothesis should also ask themselves, what would be the consequences if one of objects crash-landed somewhere in Lubliniec, Wiklow or Pabianice.

Anomalous behaviors are clearly seen in the mentioned cases. They include: craft shapes unusual or useless in aeronautics, lack of sound generated by engines, extraordinary acceleration rate, strange disappearances and other aspects noted in classical UFO report. Therefore it may be not so wrong to suppose that triangle/boomerangs form a branch of complex UFO phenomenon in Jacques Vallée’s interpretation assuming that it’s rather a mental process than a material phenomenon and it’s able to evolution. Flying triangles could be the next "stage" of UFOs after epoch of flying saucers. The whole process is driven by mysterious "metaintelgence" of which one can learn from dr Vallée works.

Without help and comments from military and other official sources, it would be hard to determine the exact nature of the phenomenon. Polish Army and government officially don’t comment UFO-related events and since accession of Poland to NATO, the topic is nearly "stigmatized" in mainstream TV and press. The best example of how Polish citizens perceive Army politics is that most (if not all) won’t contact military or Police in case of UFO sighting fearing that they would be ridiculed or ignored. The standards are exactly opposite as in Belgium where a rash of triangular UFOs evoked serious reaction from state and military officials.

A man in the town of Elblag photographed a strange light he saw floating over his town on the evening of September 29. He is convinced it is not a “Wedding Lantern,” often referred to as a Chinese Lantern, because it was too bright and too big.

Mr. Jaroslaw sent four UFO pictures of the object to the local news website Info.elblag.pl. He says the light appeared in the sky west of town, and it could be seen very clearly. Jaroslaw says his father was the first to spot the object from his balcony while he was out smoking a cigarette in a town west of Elblag. His father called him and told Jaroslaw about the strange light he was seeing, so Jaroslaw went to look and find out if he could see the object himself.

Jaroslaw was able to spot the object on the horizon, and although it was dark, he decided to try and take pictures. He says he watched the object for 20 minutes, and that the light moved very slow and appeared to be heading toward the ground.

Info.elblag.pl wrote that they were not sure what Jaroslaw saw, and wondered whether or not he witnessed an extraterrestrials spacecraft, referring to the Hynek UFO classification of a Close Encounter of the First Kind.

Hovering UFO Directs Beam of Light Down Onto Nuclear Weapons Area

In 2010, I received a series of emails from an individual who told me that he was a retired Polish military intelligence officer. However, unlike my many former or retired U.S. military sources, whose service records (DD214) I possess, I can not substantiate this individual's credentials.

That said, two other Polish nationals, one of them a journalist, have confirmed that a number of his statements to me are based on verifiable facts, including the extensive foreign language training provided to Soviet-era intelligence officers in Poland. Despite a few grammatical errors, which I’ve corrected below, this person’s English is excellent.

The self-described retired colonel gave me permission to print his comments as long as I refrained from identifying him. So, with these caveats in mind, I offer here excerpts from his first email to me:
Dear Mr. Hastings,

...I write to you from Poland after reading your book regarding [the] topic of UFOs and nukes. I do so because it struck a few familiar chords on this side of the ocean.

First of all, I'm 70 years old and a retired LWP (Ludowe Wojsko Polskie or People's Army of Poland) officer, [who served] back in the days of socialism in Poland. [I was] a colonel and a ranking member of WSW (Wojskowa Służba Wewnętrzna or Army Internal Service) which was a military intelligence agency. The WSW was the equivalent of [the Soviet] GRU and we were cooperating very closely with each other given how Poland was one of the biggest and most important states of the Warsaw Pact. So I had enough clearance to know about a few things...

After World War II, many of the Soviet forces remained on the territory of Poland for political and technical reasons...What is also public knowledge is that there were several bases in Poland that were meant to house nuclear missiles and if the need [arose] to launch them on advancing Western Forces. Of all the 63 Soviet bases in Poland only a few like 3001 in Podborsko, 3002 in Brzeźnica Kolonia, and 3003 in Templewo were issued with nuclear missiles...

We didn't house long-range intercontinental missiles. All Polish, or more accurately Soviet units had 8k11 (Scud) and 3r10 tactical missile launchers, most of them mounted on TELs (Transporter Erector Launchers) like the MAZ-543. These were short-range and inaccurate...The idea was to kiss the incoming Allied forces with these ‘superb’ weapons and, if it had come to this, perform a second [attack on] Berlin, this time nuke-augmented.

This brings me to the topic of UFOs. You see, we've had a fairly good knowledge about them. [The] Eastern Bloc was researching the problem collectively [but] the Russians were the ones who called the shots. We were heavily subservient to them officially but remained probably the most ‘independent’ intelligence [organization] in the entire Warsaw Pact. So we did additional research about the topic, [the] outcome of which I don't know [as] it was very, very classified. Yet the general outlines provided by the GRU and the [conclusions on] which I was briefed with were as follows:

1) The probability of the objects being U.S. or any other Western country's vehicles is extremely low, close to 1 percent.

2) The objects perform maneuvers at speeds that would instantly [kill] a human pilot. They're either remote-controlled or are manned by non-human entities.

3) Observed aerial phenomena can be tracked by ground and aerial radar but several cases point to the objects being capable of removing themselves from the radar somewhat.

4) The objects exhibit unusual and repeated interest in areas of nuclear weapons storage.

That's why your book hit the spot with me...Just to clarify, no one [in Poland] outside the top brass ever spoke about UFOs as [such]. Soldiers were told (if they were told at all) not about UFOs but about a nebulous ‘possible spy plane activity’ and given the [Cold War] time-frame it all was happening in, everyone was afraid of the imperialist American eye in the sky. These were the times [when] you were afraid of Commie spies [and] we were afraid of yours. So the hysteria served the concealment well...I'm pretty sure the top [commanders] knew that these were not American spy planes (and they had to know, too, that spy planes usually fly at altitudes that are far above any capability of sighting by ground personnel, and some missile tracking systems as well).

Back in the day we were all wondering: Could it be that the Russians knew the intentions of this undoubtedly intelligent phenomenon? There were a number of cases involving [a] UFO operating in the close proximity of a missile base that housed nuclear warheads. From the information I heard or read there were no cases of landing. In one instance, the object passed [over] the rectangular [nuclear weapons storage] area of the base diagonally, employing a very bright cone of light, like a huge searchlight, that appeared to be made of solid light. The [object] appeared to use the light, or whatever device it was, in a repeated cycle of shining it down to the ground, then shutting it off, and again shining it down some distance further.

I heard all of this from one of the Polish officers stationed in Brzeźnica, which was the place of [the] sighting. He told me that everyone was thinking that it was a U.S. silent helicopter. There were no malfunctions of electronic equipment. The object did not [appear] on a radar screen. The military channels were interrupted three times that evening and the following night—one time it was a break and static in a radio transmission, and two times the coded messages which were received from Warsaw were received in [the] wrong order—the one that was sent later came in first.

So that's all I wanted to share with you, Mr. Hastings...I was just a tiny cogwheel in a huge military complex and I'm rather grateful that I was privileged enough to [learn] that much of the information. Most of my peers were and are not aware of UFO phenomenon at all. I told you all of this because both [the] U.S.S.R. and People’s Republic of Poland are defunct now and it's been 25 years since I'd folded my military uniform and hung it in my closet. I'm free to talk and not obliged by any documents or regulations to keep my mouth shut. I'm also an old man and my memory is sketchy, so some of this might not be as accurate as it should've been.

Regards,
[Name withheld]
The reality of UFOs hovering over nuclear weapons storage sites—at both U.S. Air Force and Soviet Army bases—is now well-established via declassified U.S. and Soviet government documents and military eyewitness testimony. My next article will cover such cases at the USAF-operated RAF Bentwaters base in England, in December 1980, and the Kapustin Yar missile test range in the former USSR, in July 1989. In both incidents, a disc-shaped UFO was observed as it directed laser-like beams of light down onto facilities housing either nuclear bombs or missile warheads.

Crop Circle Road Sign in Wylatowo, Poland

By Jay Martin

“We could go to Wylatowo,” I say to Yvette. “What’s there?” she asks. “Alien crop circles, apparently,” I reply. . . .

. . . ‘The piktogramy?’ one asks. Sometimes Polish turns out to be simpler than you think. I nod.

The words tumble out of them faster than I can keep up: “They are so symmetrical, people say they can’t possibly have been done by humans!”
“As soon as they come, these Japanese people turn up to do research. And this German professor from a university, too — he’s got a film with UFOs on it from here!”
‘The power goes out sometimes. All the lights, the electricity. And then it just comes back on again! Tell me that’s not strange!” . . .

On the 8th and 9th of March a series of strange incidents took place in Cracow (Kraków) area. Several independent witnesses observed a strange aerial craft resembling a classical flying saucer with a ring of lights along its rim. In one instance, the object was hovering just above the highway. In two other ones, the UFO passed over the witnesses cars and in the next an unidentified object crossed the sky above Kraków district. Officially nothing is known about it. But the eyewitnesses’ reports don’t lie.

The first report about sighting of a strange aerial craft in Kraków appeared on March 10th. It contained a description of a strange flying object that appeared over Bronowice estate and then flew away towards Balice Airport. The sighting took place on March 9th but soon it turned out that 10 minutes earlier a similar object passed over a car of female witness in Kryspinów. Further reports suggested that two sightings of a very similar object occurred a day before. In the first instance the object was seen in Myślenice area and passed over the witness car then disappearing into night. Two hours later two women saw a strange light hovering over a highway. When they passed below the object, it turned out that it was a metallic saucer with red lights underneath.

POLAND: Weird UFO incident in Swietokrzyskie (23/12/07)
According to “Gazeta Starachowicka” newspaper on 23rd December 2007 a luminous sphere sighting was reported by an inhabitant of Rataje village in Central Poland. The object itself was hovering over nearby Weglow village. But what happened next is even more puzzling…

Local newspaper “Gazeta Starachowicka” reports a story of a man from Rataje village who observed a strange luminous sphere over Weglow.

On 23rd of December the newspaper received a call from a reader. It was about 8:30 p.m. With nervous voice he reported that his father had noticed some strange phenomenon about half an hour before.

“He saw some bright light” – the witness’ son said. “It was in size of small full moon but was positioned very low over the horizon, directly over the village. My father was sure that it was just a falling star or some comet. It was flying down. Suddenly it stopped and remained hovering in the west sky. It remained stationary for a while and then shot off. It passed very quickly several hundreds of meters and then stopped and began to descend. But it wasn’t on the ground. Then again it began moving horizontally and with enormous speed the enlightened ball shot off upwards and disappeared in the skies. My father thought that it was a thunder but its movement remains puzzling.”

The sighting lasted about 20 seconds. As the newspaper article stated the man’s relation was rejected at first due to reason that the only one witness wanted to remain anonymous. Anyway, it would never saw the light but there exist Police and Fire Dept. reports that added some controversial details to Rataje sighting.

Andrzej Pyzik from Emergency Center informed that on that day, about 9 p.m. there was a report of wooden house fire in Weglow. The fire source was, according to fire dept. report, a failing of the electric installation in the house.

“We put the two and two together” – the newspaper article says. “From Rataje village perspective the UFO was hovering directly over Weglow. The witness who after a hour of the UFO sighting saw a fire glow in the place of previous strange object didn’t realized that both incidents might have something in common. He rushed to help his neighbors but didn’t tell about his UFO sighting to anyone. But the call from our reader was received about 8:30 pm. It was set basing on billing lists. […] The fire was reported about 9 p.m. […] If the unidentified object could influence on the house electric installation, it is possible that we deal here with event of unknown nature. […] Moreover, according to our informer, the glowing ball was hovering directly over the house that then was in flames.”

The case reported by the newspaper should be taken with suitable dose of skepticism although the case seems interesting enough to ensue some efforts in searching of other information, both from the witnesses and officials.

POLAND: Dozens of Triangular UFOs Seen Over Warsaw

UFOs Over Sluzec
By P.Cielebiaś
"NOL - the Eastern European UFO Journal"
1-20-07

On 20th January 2007 between 1 and 2 am. about 17 unidentified triangular objects appeared in the sky above Polish capital city district of Sluzec. According to the witness, Mrs. Jolanta Z. [53], triangular objects scattered in the sky remained in her view for over an hour, slowly rising up and finally disappearing.

At about 1:15 am. the woman living in a block [in vicinity of a airport Okecie] in Mokotow district, Mrs. Jolanta Z., woke up to smoke a cigarette. At one moment her attention was drawn by a light visible in the sky. The woman who is accustomed with view of landing planes after a while noticed strange behavior of the object that seemed to be suspended in the sky.

When she approached the window, she was amazed with a sight of a dozen of triangular objects. The woman claims that at first she was able to see 17 or 18 identical objects in shape of isisceles triangles scattered in the sky [with their “beaks” pointing eastward]. One of them [located in the southern part of the sky] was noticeably bigger [the witness estimated that it was in dimension of 3 smaller objects].

Each triangle possessed 3 red lights located in the corners, with a line of bluish point lights connecting the red ones.

"They were as if suspended in the air. They seemed to be in formation. It seemed to me that one must see another one" - she said.

When the woman realized that she is witnessing a probable UFO manifestation she decided to call NPN organization hotline, leaving two voice messages containing the story of the sighing.

The woman also mentioned strange behavior of her cats and dog. When she went on the balcony along with her animals they became scared - her dog began barking. After some time she decided to notify her neighbors and friends calling some of them but most refused to get up rejecting her proposal and didn't pay attention for the woman's revelations. Unfortunately she wasn’t also able to took a photo of the phenomenon.
"It was an unusual phenomenon but I wasn't afraid of it" - she said.

At the moment of sighting the weather conditions were good, with rare clouds visible in the sky. The whole formation remained suspended in the sky without noticeable move.

At the moment Mrs. Jolanta Z. is the only one witness of the event. The research is ongoing.
