Object near here.

Tom Kitchen, a tractor operator, said he spotted the UFO yesterday while on his tractor in a field near the Woodson bridge on the outskirts of Vina.

"It was about the size of a large auto or small bus." Kitchen told officers who said they saw it in its ascendancy.

Kitchen said the UFO hovered at tree-top level and he watched it for considerable time. Then, he said, a Southern Pacific freight train rolled by on the nearby tracks and the object followed the train.

A UFO appeared in the skies above northern California in the early morning of Friday, September 12.

At least thirty witnesses in the bay area watched the strange object streak across the sky at approximately 6:00 a.m. Some describe the object as a white light, while others say it was orange. But the light was seen with “fog or smoke billowing out” behind it. Among the witnesses is a police officer from Sacramento. . . .

. . . The strange object that streaked across the sky remains unidentified. . . .

The Chabot Space and Science Center says that a mysterious streak of light that lit up Bay Area skies early Friday morning may have been a meteor.

Bay Area residents – and even some in Southern California and Oregon – reported seeing the phenomena, but nobody could figure out what it was.

Comet? White glow? Strange streak in the sky? Bright orange light? Aliens? UFO? – the rumors kept flying in.

Chabot Space Center astronomer Ben Burress told NBC Bay Area that there were a total of three events Thursday and Friday where people reported seeing something in the sky. Two of the events occurred Thursday at 9 and 11 p.m. and Friday's event occurred around 6 a.m., Burress said. . . .

The explanation for what many people thought was an exploding UFO above Sacramento is no longer a mystery -- it was a weather balloon.

After HuffPost reported how Elijah Prychodzko videotaped a circular, bright aerial object through his telescope over Sacramento on Dec. 20, 2012, the volume of explanations began rolling in for the possible identity of the object.

Those included alien spacecraft, military weapons test, a runaway planet, Doomsday rock headed to Earth and shot down by the Air Force, North Korea's satellite, and, even, a hoax.

If the images above and below look similar, it's because they both show the same type of event as seen through telescopes -- the difference being that the picture above was taken over Tampa Bay, Fla., on July 2, 2012, and the one below was the object photographed over Sacramento on Dec. 20.

Many readers speculated that what Prychodzko captured on video was a weather balloon and not something that occurred in deep space.

"Obviously, something of this magnitude (planetary-size space explosion) would have been noticed by government (NASA) and or professional astronomers along with a host of amateur astronomers," 40-year veteran UFO researcher Frank Warren told HuffPost in an email. . . .

UPDATE: Viral 'Video Of Explosion in Space' is a Weather Balloon - Yes Really!

Still from Prychodzko video of alleged space explosion

So It Begins

Good friend and colleague Johnny Anonymous, co-host of ATS Live, and lead investigator for the Above Top Secret organization was the first to alert me to the now “viral video” and story of the alleged “strange explosion in space” as recorded by one Elijah Prychodzko, a young Sacramento, California resident. The story broke locally on the 30th (December 2012) and I received Johnny’s e-mail the following day.

Sacramento.cbslocal.com in part wrote:
"This mysterious little tale begins earlier this week when Good Day Sacramento’s Cody Stark got this message on Facebook: ‘I have something on video no one has ever seen. I had my telescope out, caught an explosion in space. Wanna see the video?’

Cody’s response? Absolutely!

The video was shot with an iPhone through the eyepiece of a telescope, so CBS13 had to enlarge it to get a better look. It was shot on Dec. 20 around 5 p.m. in Sacramento by viewer Elijah Prychodzko.

‘I saw something that I’d never seen before. I saw another object orbiting this — whatever it was up there, and I’ve never seen anything like that before,’ said Prychodzko."
The video that accompanied the article was of the local newscast that aired the story (basically, reiterating the printed article) ; embedded therein was an interview with Prychodzko, along with “snippets” of his video he delivered to Cody Stark (a reporter Good Day Sacramento)).

See video below:

On The Hunt

As is most often the case the “news blurb” contained only snippets of the video; however, the news segment, said snippets and its implications did “set the hook” and compelled me to dig deeper.

Since the video embedded in the article was credited to YouTube, I did a cursory search in order to find an account held by Prychodzko; I didn’t have any luck there (so far); however, I did find Cody Stark’s YouTube account and lo and behold there were “3” videos concerning the “Prychodzko story,” one labeled, “Space Explosion B-Roll.”

The “B-Roll video” or more accurately segments of it—were a little more telling, as it showed the prelude to the explosion; in short while narrating his video we see Prychodzko pan over to his telescope (a Meade 10" LightBridge) and then he points to the sky (his hand now in the frame) explaining that he is “going to be filming a planet”; curiously, his finger is (clearly) above an (seemingly) identical object he later claims is the planet in the close-up. There is no reason given why he is filming a planet, or making the video at all. Without a break in the video, he pans back over to the telescope; walks over to it, and put his phone/camera over the eyepiece of the ®Lightbridge all the while explaining:
“now check this out, I’ve never seen this before and I’m actually surprised my phone’s doin’ this, but ahh, check this out. Oh my god! It just blew up! What the hell?! Something just blew the hell up! It was orbiting and now it blew up!"

See video below:

Truth in Commentary

After watching the videos several times and ruminating over the matter, the first thing that stood out was Prychodzko’s demeanor and actions, which in my view didn’t add up given the gravity of his supposed declaration, i.e., that he was observing a planet or another astronomical body and it exploded. One would think a knee-jerk reaction would be to just look up at the sky, and or look directly in the eyepiece (in their excitement); in my view the episode seemed “staged.”

Another peculiarity or yellow flag if you will, was that the explosion seemed to be “static,” although there appeared to be two objects moving (more on that later) away from the blast. Of course we are lead to believe that “the explosion occurred in space,” and supposedly where the planet was seconds ago—is the image of what appears to be an explosion with a conglomeration of bright, bits and pieces now larger then the size of the planet itself. Although there was a break in segments of the video (prior to showing the telescope), the impression given is that it was just seconds during the time that Prychodzko viewed the planet in good health, then walked over to the telescope and witnessed/recorded the explosion, or more specifically the aftermath.

This notion for me gave rise to “explosive velocity”; the point being that an initial explosion of whatever source would take time to widen out to a planetary scale—it would not occur in just a few seconds. Of course that brings us around to the explosion itself, which naturally can’t take place in the vacuum of space, certainly not the way we’re accustomed to in an atmosphere. Lastly, and probably the most obvious is that anything as grandiose as an explosion on a planetary scale would have had astronomers of every flavor in an uproar and would still be dominating mainstream news.

With the notion that the video of a planetary scale explosion happening in cosmos quickly diminishing, the next questions were, “was something actually filmed, if so did it occur in our airspace, or atmosphere?” I went back to the original article to see if I missed anything; in my haste during the first go-‘round I neglected to read the “comment section” . . . there atop of the heap, a reader states:
“It's a weather balloon exploding. Google exploding weather balloon to see other examples”
Having been a student of Ufology for over 40 years, I can’t begin to recount the many times weather balloons were thrashed out, so much so that the topic became a running joke with researchers/investigators etc. I think I actually laughed out loud as I read the a fore mentioned commentary; however, I have seen images of “bursting weather balloons” over the years as they reach the upper atmosphere and although I didn’t recognize it as such initially, the recollection returned after I read the declaration.

If It Walks Like Duck

Heeding the commenter’s advice I quickly culled a few videos from YouTube showing weather balloons climbing to the upper atmosphere and subsequently bursting and voilà! There is no question that the mystery image or so-called “explosion in space” is neither.

See side-by-side still shots of a known weather balloon bursting, and the Prychodzko claimed space explosion:

You note the separate white object(s) in each pic and video; this is the respective radiosondes and parachutes to slow the former's descent after the balloon bursts. NOAA explains:
The radiosonde is a small, expendable instrument package that is suspended below a 2 meter (6 feet) wide balloon filled with hydrogen or helium. As the radiosonde is carried aloft, sensors on the radiosonde measure profiles of pressure, temperature, and relative humidity. These sensors are linked to a battery powered, 300 milliwatt radio transmitter that sends the sensor measurements to a sensitive ground receiver on a radio frequency ranging from 1668.4 - 1700.0 MHz. By tracking the position of the radiosonde in flight, information on wind speed and direction aloft is also obtained. Observations where winds aloft are also obtained are called "rawinsonde" observations.

The radiosonde flight can last in excess of two hours, and during this time the radiosonde can ascend to over 35 km (about 115,000 feet) and drift more than 200 km (about 125 miles) from the release point. During the flight, the radiosonde is exposed to temperatures as cold as -90 o C (-130 o F) and an air pressure only few thousandths of what is found on the Earth's surface. When the balloon has expanded beyond its elastic limit and bursts (about 6 m or 20 feet in diameter), a small parachute slows the descent of the radiosonde, minimizing the danger to lives and property.
To Hoax or Not To Hoax?

So, the evidence is clear that the video as presented by Elijah Prychodzko is not some mystery explosion in the cosmos, nor a UFO being shot down in our atmosphere; it is in this instance, no pun intended—A WEATHER BALLOON!

The question now becomes, “did Prychodzko innocently misidentify this mundane object?” Granting the fact that watching one burst through a telescope and not knowing what it was/is could leave one scratching his head.

One chore left to do would be to contact local offices of the National Weather Service to affirm or disprove the launching of a balloon in this vicinity on the 20th of December.

Aside from that, all of the videos of weather balloons bursting in the upper atmosphere, necessitated movement of the telescope or camera as the balloon(s) continued to rise. We see no evidence of this in Prychodzko’s example; quite the opposite in fact, as he leaves the impression that the telescope was “preset to a static position” in order to film a planet as he claimed in the video. Moreover and as stated above, the image of the “balloon bursting” seems to be motionless, as if it’s a “still shot” from a video, rather then an actually video itself. Additionally, the image appears to be “upside down” in comparison to several other videos of whether balloons bursting, as the radiosondes/parachutes packages appear to be “above” the balloon itself.

Finally, there is no explanation why Prychodzko was recording the video to begin with, and in my view his demeanor and actions didn’t seem to fit the gravity of his declared scenario or sequence of events.

Whether this was an “intentional hoax” perpetrated by Prychodzko or not, I’ll let you the reader decide . . ..

“I saw something that I’d never seen before. I saw another object orbiting this — whatever it was up there, and I’ve never seen anything like that before,” said Prychodzko.

He thought it was a little strange so he put his phone down, called his nephew, and then returned to shoot a second video clip.

“Oh my God, it just blew up. Something blew up,” he’s heard saying on the video.

“As soon as I put the camera to the telescope it just blew up and I didn’t know what to say,” he told CBS13. . . .

Sacramento MUFON Meeting JUNE 26, 2010

MUFON Sacramento
By Shirley Wheeler
Secretary, Pro Tem
MUFON Sacramento
6-26-10

Cynthia Siegel      The meeting was opened by Cynthia Siegel who made announcements of upcoming speakers. She said that Mary Barr, hypnotherapist, will offer FREE sessions to our group respectively. She circulated the latest MUFON journal and a booklet of flyers showing previous speakers and their topics. She also passed out The UFO TV catalogue, which contains a plethora of videos and DVDs relating to the paranormal. Additionally, she made a petition available to sign, which dealt with Chem-Trails, along with Conspirator-Con order forms.

New people were introduced: Devlin Rugne, who has just moved to the Stockton area from Oregon where she was Chief Investigator; and Vivian Walker who has begun photographing orbs and who will be a future presenter showing some of her photos.

Janice StorkEarth is Not My Home By Janice StorkFollowing the introductions and associated pleasantries, Cynthia introduced the speaker of the day, Janice Stork, who is the Author of the books The Earth Is Not My Home and Footprints of the Capitol Astrologer; while a legislative aide for the state, Mrs. Stork was influential in getting the practice of Astrology legalized.

Janice opened her remarks with the statement that it takes a lot of courage to stand up and speak in front of people because of the ethereal nature of her experiences. Her ‘spirit guide’ has, I gather, advised her to become involved with MUFON, which she acknowledged she had little knowledge of until she saw Shirley Wheeler on a local TV program. She added that on attending her first MUFON meeting, her guide advised her to sit next to Mary Barr, who subsequently agreed to do a regression for Janice, but she did not reveal the results of that session.

Janice also speaks of channeling to (or through) an ET, who explained to her that they were here to travel about the world and attempt to unify its people – in hopes of eliminating strife and war? (Something most of us wish for, I’m sure).

Janice wrote her book, The Earth Is Not My Home, at the demand of her spirit guide, saying that until she did so she had never fully understood the extent or purpose of her involvement with UFOs. She feels that writing her book has allowed her to grow spiritually and to develop her psychic abilities.

While an aide for the state, Janice met a psychic who told her that she (Janice) had once lived on a different planet and made the statement “I want to go home” which Janice feels pertains to her also. It was about this time that she began to realize that the stories of UFOs, ET, etc. were true; that there are many on this planet that feel as if it is not ‘home’ to them.

At Easter time in 1997 she was in Palmdale, Ca., and, walking across little hills of sand, was instructed by her guide to draw the symbols of two arrows, one pointing upward, the other down and enclose them in a circle, then raise her hands, palm outward to shoulder level. Her hands were throbbing and she was then told why ET’s are here. The triangle formation so often described in sightings was EXPLAINED AS THE Earth being at the top and two other galaxies to complete the triangle; but there was no specific reason why.

She was also told some of what ETs are like; that they use mental communication and are constantly connected to each other so that they know when another ET is in trouble or has expired. She speaks of the ‘sound’ of a spaceship. She told of watching two silver ships circling one another near Watt and Fair Oaks in Sacramento , saying that they made figure eights and that she watched them for some time.

The last part of her talk was devoted to explaining the astrological charts she had passed out. She said making and studying such charts could predict events.

The message of her speech seems to be that one can contact ETs through astrology and other psychic means, and learn from them how to improve life here on Earth.

MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Witness Spots UFO On Bus trip To Sacramento

My UFO Experience
Reader Submitted Report
[Unedited]
3-13-09

Just watching something on the History channel. But I wanted to share my story of a sighting that I had. It was about November 2005, I was on a bus headed to Sacramento California. I was just outside of Sacramento on the Interstate 5. When I was sitting on the Left hand side of the GreyHound Bus. Was ready to get off of the 12 hours Ride and recently woke up from a nap when I started to look out of the window to do some star gazing.

As I looked about 10 o'clock from the Bus which was heading north, I noticed there was what I thought at the time to be a Helicopter about 15 miles out. Interested in what was going down, usually a cop chance or something, I locked my eyes upon it. As the buss continued on the highway, I realized that the Object which I thought was a Helicopter had lights at to opposite ends and one in the middle and another and the tip.

Baffled at what I was seeing, I asked the passenger next to me if he could make out what it was that I was looking at. He looks over and says that is isnt an helicopter and the fact that it was moving literally less than 5 miles an hour it couldnt be a place.

So as we were heading North on the 5, it was heading North East across the Left side of the Bus to the right. Now plotting the path we crossed a little way up the freeway and as I looked up I was totally confused. I could differently make our the four lights. three made a triangle shape and the oen in the middle that faded in and out. and I could see the dark outline of a triangle. At that momment I realized that it had to be a UFO, and was surprised but I have always heard of something of this nature, but thought people were just crazy or making this stuff up.

The gentlemen next to me kind of just strugged it off, but It really made me think about what is really going on. The way it moved was like it was riding on cloud as the saying goes. well that is my story, not sure if it helps or whatever, but interested in knowing what else is happening that I dont know about.

Sacramento UFO Explained

By George Warren
News 10
11-25-08

ROSEVILLE, CA - The mystery surrounding a series of lights seen hovering over Roseville Friday night has been solved.

The lights were attached to an airplane that belongs to a Bay Area aerial advertising firm that was announcing the grand opening of a tire store.

"It was the craziest thing I've ever seen," said News10 reporter Angel Cardenas, who recorded a nine-second clip of video from Air10 while flying over a high school football game in Roseville.

The incident prompted a number of calls to News10 and a buzz on the Internet.

The owner of the advertising firm said the plane occasionally stirs UFO sighting reports.

"From a distance it looks unidentified, lights are blinking," said Jason Frost of American Air Lights in Concord. "You can't read the words unless you're in the target audience (below the plane)."

Frost said he welcomed the exposure from the Friday night aerial ad campaign.

"It's good for us," he said.

What Is That?: Callers, Air10 Spot UFO Over Sacramento

By News 10
11-22-08

SACRAMENTO, CA - News10 often receives calls from those who spotted something unusual in the night skies. It's not nearly as common for those calls to be backed up by our own Air10.

While shooting Friday Night Football highlights over Sacramento, Air10 pilot Ed Georges and FNF correspondent Angel Cardenas spotted a strange set of lights flying over their helicopter.

"I know what aircraft lighting looks like and this was definitely something different," Georges said. "It looked almost like a scrolling message on a blimp to the naked eye. I was at 1,200 feet and it was considerably higher."

Georges said he and Cardenas manuevered the helicopter to get a better look at the lights through Air10's Power Zoom camera.

"(Angel and I) were both amazed at the odd lights and movement. I started flying toward it, but it began to fade away and disappeared to the southeast," Georges said. "Not knowing the size of the object, I couldn't determine how far away we were, but I believe it was some distance away as the image was fuzzy even through the PowerZoom camera."

Not long after their sighting, several callers phoned the News10 newsroom to report seeing the same phenomenon.

When contacted, Federal Aviation Adminstration and Sacramento International Airport spokespeople said they hadn't heard anything about the object and had no idea what the craft could be. A Travis Air Force Base representative said the base had no aircrafts that could be confused with a UFO.

So what is it? Take a look at the video and weigh in with your own verdict.
