Rockets Launched at Passenger Planes Over Perth? Second Incident Comes To Light!

Paul Dean By Paul Dean
The UFO Chronicles
2-1-15

On the 19th of March, 2014 a passenger plane had a “near miss” incident with a long, green or grey, cylindrical shaped object while on its merry way to landing at Perth Airport. Researcher Keith Bastefield and I studied this case for months, which included interviewing the pilot, securing combined radar imaging, looking at local weather data, etc. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s (ATSB) final report, at just 4 pages, was simply titled “Near Collision Between An Unknown Object And A De Havilland DHC-8”. Our own final report can be seen here:

I had always suspected that the object was some sort of high-end consumer rocket or toy missile; and, if so, my fear was that someone had deliberately launched it at the oncoming passenger plane. But without more information I didn’t think we would ever know. That now may have changed. And it doesn’t look good.

On the 24th of November, 2014 I submitted an FOI request to Airservices Australia (ASA) specifically asking for:
. . . any incidences where flight crews have reported any:

1) Unusual, Unknown, or Unidentifiable Aircraft or Objects;

2) Suspected Drones/Unmanned Aerial Vehicles;

3) Meteoric Events, fireballs and the like;

4) Especially unusual weather phenomenon;

which are held on ESIR or CIRRIS database(s).
Less than a month later – on the 10th of December - along comes the reply:
“Please find attached an FOI access decision, table of documents and documents being released under the access decision re your request dated 25 November 2014.”
Attached was a 3 page PDF file titled “Documents Being Released Under The Access Decision”. It contained tabulated pilot reports of UFO-like events over Australia spanning back 7 years.

I had focused on the more unusual cases in the document. Had I have been a bit more thorough I would have noticed that case number ATS-0118570, occurring at 9.20am on the 4th of January 2013, detailed a troubling event over, like the 2014 case, Perth. It took Keith Basterfield’s keen eye to see the link just tonight. The summary states:
“XKI (DH8C) reported a foreign object of approximate size (1 metre) within close proximity (50ft) of the aircraft causing them to level out briefly as the object passed left hand side. The rocket like object (shaft) was observed to be attached to a parachute. Pilot reported observation at 6800 ft.”

Note the similarities between this 2013 event, and the much studied 2014 case! For starters, both planes are registered to Skippers Aviation.. Both events occurred slightly after 9:00am on weekdays.. Both reports indicated objects similar to rockets or missiles, specifically, “pencil or cigarette like” in dimension (the 2014 case) and “rocket like object (shaft)” (2013 case).. Both events caused the pilots to make efforts to avoid the objects.. And obviously both events happened over Perth.. The big difference between the two cases is, from the information we have, is that in the 2014 case the object went past the plane at 3800 feet altitude and still climbing. In the 2013 case the object was “attached to a parachute” and was seen at 6800 feet altitude. Sounds like some sort of rocket with a parachute no? How cute – until it happens again and strikes the guts of a 300 passenger capacity airliner.

So what is going on here? Has not the Australian Transport Safety Bureau and Airservices Australia seen the link? Certainly the 2014 event was reported by Skippers Aviation pilots to the ATSB, while the 2013 case was reported to Airservices Australia. But both share information on safety issues, and I have that in writing. Did not the ATSB, in writing their measly 4 page report on the 2014 event, feel fit to include the similar nature of the 2013 case? I am submitting an urgent Freedom of Information request to Airservices Australia for details of the 2013 event. If I find out that it occurred over a similar location above Perth, and the authorities are brushing this extraordinary issue aside, then it they really are not doing the job they are mandated to; and it will be absurd of them to pretend otherwise when they try.

Once again, Keith Basterfield linked the two events from my FOI-obtained documents. There may be dozens more incidents like this. Give us two or three months and we'll find more.

Is 'Mystery Object' a Space Weapon? | VIDEO

Orbits of debris generated one month after a 2007 Chinese anti-satellite test; the white orbit represents the International Space Station. In May 2014, Russia launched a mystery object that some experts say could be an anti-satellite weapon.

The orbital maneuvers of a mysterious object Russia launched earlier this year have raised concerns that the satellite may be a space weapon of some sort.

The speculation centers on "Object 2014-28E," which Russia lofted along with three military communications satellites in May. The object was originally thought to be space junk, but satellite trackers have watched it perform a number of interesting maneuvers over the past few weeks, the Financial Times reported Monday (Nov. 17).

Last weekend, for example, 2014-28E apparently met up with the remnants of a rocket stage that helped the object reach orbit.

As a result, some space analysts wonder if Object 2014-28E could be part of an anti-satellite program — perhaps a revived version of the Cold War-era "Istrebitel Sputnikov" ("satellite killer") project, which Russian officials have said was retired when the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990s. . . .

It is a tale that could have come straight from the cold war. A mysterious object launched by the Russian military is being closely tracked by western space agencies, stoking fears over the revival of a long-defunct Kremlin project to destroy satellites.

For the past few weeks, amateur astronomers and satellite-trackers in Russia and the West have followed the unusual manoeuvres of “Object 2014-28E” in the skies, watching it guide itself towards other Russian space objects in a pattern that appeared to culminate last weekend in a rendezvous with the remains of the rocket stage that launched it. . . .

An unmanned Russian supply ship launched toward the International Space Station early Wednesday (Oct. 29), beginning a six-hour cargo delivery that comes one day after a private U.S. rocket exploded while attempting a similar mission.

The robotic Progress 57 spacecraft blasted off from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan atop a Russian Soyuz rocket at 3:09 a.m. EDT (0709 GMT) to begin its space station mission. The spacecraft is carrying nearly 3 tons of supplies for the space station's Expedition 41 crew and is expected to link up with the orbiting lab at 9:09 a.m. EDT (1309 GMT).

Russia's successful Progress launch followed the disappointing failure of a U.S. commercial Antares rocket one day earlier. Built by the Virginia-based company Orbital Sciences Corporation, the Antares rocket exploded about 10 seconds after lifting off from its launch pad at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on Wallops Island, Virginia. An investigation into the launch failure is ongoing. . . .

NEW ORLEANS (KTRK)--It has been 45 years since the first man walked on the moon. Now in New Orleans, just a few miles from the French Quarter, NASA is quietly making the largest, most powerful rocket that will have ever left the earth.

"For an engineer, it's Disneyland every day," said NASA worker Pat Whipps.

"You work every day, and you're trying to make it perfect first time out," said NASA worker Kevin Pierre.

The work is being done in the Michoud Assembly Facility, the very same place where they built the Saturn rocket for those Apollo missions. It was also there that they built the giant fuel tanks which powered the Space Shuttle.

Workers in the facility are now constructing the Space Launch System. The SLS will stand over 320 feet tall and will be able to take a crew of six further into space than anyone has ever been.

Some of the barrels that make up the core stage of the SLS and carry the fuel are welded together piece by piece by over 600 people at NASA's 42 acre facility.

"Everybody's excited to have a part in America's next great adventure," said Pat Whipps of NASA Michoud.

The top of the rocket will feature the Orion capsule. It may look familiar because NASA says the physics of launch and return haven't changed much since the Apollo days.

"But the insides are totally different," said NASA Orion program manager Mark Geyer. . . .

UFO Was Rocket, Says Retired Astronomer

JOHANNESBURG - An object seen in the sky across the country on Sunday was a rocket and not a UFO as it was widely believed, a satellite tracking expert said on Monday.

Retired astronomer from Cape Town, Greg Roberts said: "What happened was that at 6pm our time yesterday [Sunday] a rocket, called Falcon, was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California and carrying several satellites.”

"The rocket was designed by a company called Spacex which has former South African Elon Musk as founder and chief designer."

Roberts said the rocket was launched southwards from California towards the south-polar regions, which it passed over.

It started heading northwards again and just east of South Africa.

"Shortly after 7pm it apparently either vented or released rocket fuel still in its fuel tanks as the basic mission of placing several satellites in orbit had been achieved while over the Antarctic region and this produced the large halo-like object that people saw." . . .

At 05:23 on Sept. 2, 2013, YouTube user Lou20764 of UFO Australia was photographing the International Space Station (ISS) pass in the pre-dawn sky over Melbourne. Then about twenty minutes later, at 5:47, he noticed part of the sky light up, and then saw and recorded a huge, glowing object high in the sky. It seemed to be pulsating and changing its shape. He had two separate cameras running, and both recorded the same thing, which makes the possibility of a hoax much less likely.

Lou posted the video to YouTube, where in a few days it was viewed over 100,000 times. A thread was started on the conspiracy-oriented website Above Top Secret, which attracted the usual mix of intelligent comment and wild speculation. . . .

ORLANDO, Fla. -A mysterious sight in the sky prompted numerous reports of UFOs, and the cause of the sightings took place in South Florida.

The Air Force says it received reports Wednesday night from Jacksonville to the Florida Keys about a weird, bluish cloud.

Many residents also called the National UFO Reporting Center.

Scientists say, however, that the sighting was not a UFO but instead was caused by exhaust fumes from a Delta IV rocket. During the launch, ice crystals formed in the sky, causing the confusion, scientists say. . . .

ALMATY, Kazakhstan, July 2 (Reuters) - A Russian rocket carrying three navigation satellites worth around $200 million crashed shortly after lift-off from the Russian-leased Baikonur launch facility in Kazakhstan on Tuesday after its engines suddenly switched off.

The accident led to a large spill of heptyl, a highly toxic rocket propellant, but there were no reports of casualties or of any immediate threat to nearby settlements.

State-run Rossiya-24 television showed footage of the Proton-M booster rocket veering off course seconds after lift-off. It fell apart in flames in the air and crashed in a ball of fire near the launch pad.

Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying launch-pad personnel were in bunkers when the rocket lifted off.

Russia's space agency Roscosmos said the accident had been caused by the emergency switch-off of the rocket's engines 17 seconds into the flight.

Russia's state-run RIA news agency said the switch-off could have been caused by a problem with the engine or the guidance system. . . .

Sorry to disappoint all UFO fans, but the ghost-like floating object (click to watch video) they gasped at on Monday night was actually a test sounding rocket launched by Chinese scientists.

The Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) clarified on its website Tuesday that it sent up a rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Northwest China's Gansu provicne at around 9:00 pm on May 13 for aero-logical sounding.

The consequence of this rocket launch, which is a common occurrence, is that many UFO believers mistook it for the latest visit by alien guests, as people across the southern part of China, including Chongqing, Kunming, Hong Kong, Changsha, Haikou, and Wuhan, all took images of the rocket and posted them on the Internet.

The sounding rocket was used to collect data about high energy and magnetic fields in the ionosphere, said CAS in a statement. . . .

UFOs spotted from China said to be Guyanese rockets

By www.wantchinatimes.com
11-29-12

Astronomy enthusiasts in China's southwestern Sichuan and Yunnan provinces have observed luminous fan-shaped objects emitting cylindrical rays of light. The Beijing UFO Research Society says the objects are not UFOs but two satellites launched from South America.

Amateur astronomer Li Feng says he saw a strange shining object with his own eyes while taking photographs of astronomical phenomena on Nov. 11 in Zoige county in Sichuan. The mysterious object appeared beside constellations Canis Major and Puppis. Upon closer observation with the aid of a telescope, Li and his companion saw the object moving slowly casting rings of light toward the ground, according to web portal Sina.

Meanwhile, in the village of Aziying in Yunan province, another stargazer spotted an object beside Canis Major which resembled a comet.

The aspect of the photographs and the objects' spatial relation to the constellations suggest the light sources were high above the ground, said Wang Sichao, a researcher at the Purple Mountain Observatory attached to the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The object seen by Li is unlikely to be a comet since it was easily observable with the naked eye, was very bright and moved somewhat faster. The wave-like rays emitting from its tail were also not characteristic of comets. Wang, consulting astronomical data, confirmed that no comet has come sufficiently close to the Earth which would explain the phenomenon.

The researcher suggested the object was some kind of moving vehicle emitting a substance creating the illusion of waves of light. . . .

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Rudolf Schlidt, one of the last surviving members of Wernher von Braun's original "Paperclip" rocket team, has died in Huntsville. Schlidt, who died Friday, was 98.

Schlidt was a guided missile expert who was with von Braun developing the V-2 missile in Germany in World War II. His expertise was "rocket construction, testing and research of high temperature materials," according to his obituary. He accompanied von Braun to Fort Bliss, Texas, after the war and later to Huntsville, where the team led development of America's first missiles and later the Saturn V that took Americans to the moon. The team was code-named "Paperclip" by American military and intelligence services at the end of the war.

In a 2008 interview with The Huntsville Times on the occasion of NASA's 50th birthday, Schlidt recalled the war and his early life in America. Drafted into the German army, Schlidt said he thought he was bound for a parachute team but ended up at Pennemunde where the Germans were developing the V-2. "We were far from the war ...," Schlidt said. "It was a nice assignment." When the Allies bombed the missile factory, it became "hell." The scientists and engineers were evacuated in 1945, and Schlidt eventually made his way to America with the team. He weighed 136 pounds. . . .

V-2 Rocket Launch - 1942

By Michael Marek

One of the most dangerous weapons during the Nazi regime was built in Peenemünde: the V-2 rocket - the second German "Vengeance Weapon," developed by Wernher von Braun, that killed thousands.

October 3, 1942: For the first time in history, a missile makes it to outer space - from Peenemünde, on Usedom, an island in the Baltic Sea. The first successful launch of the Aggregat 4 rocket (A4) was one of the most dangerous technical breakthroughs at the time. The rocket reached four times the speed of sound, was able to transport explosives and is considered the prototype for all modern military and civilian booster rockets. It was in the harbor village of Peenemünde that German engineers, physicists and military personnel developed the so called "Vengeance Weapon" or V-2, the better-known name of the A4. Today, the former Nazi area has been turned into a museum.

The Peenemünde Historical Technical Museum (HTM) contains documents, original rocket parts, interviews with witnesses and documentary films. Right at the museum's entrance, visitors can spot the cigar-shaped A4 rocket. The HTM is the largest technical monument in the state of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania and one of the biggest German museums and centers of attraction for people from all over the world. Some 200,000 people visit the site every year.

The Nazis started building the production facility at Peenemünde in 1936 and temporarily employed up to 15,000 people - mostly forced and foreign workers. There was a tram on site that departed every five minutes. Scientists developed a high-duty motor under the direction of physicist Wernher von Braun that could transport one ton of explosives. Von Braun was given a professor title by Hitler, which was never revoked - not even in the US, where von Braun became NASA's deputy director in the 1970s. . . .

Rendlesham: UFO mystery ‘was a US cover-up’

By Jonathan Barnes

THE internationally-famous Rendlesham “UFO incident” story was a cover-up to save the blushes of blundering US helicopter pilots, a special investigation claimed last night.

BBC Radio Suffolk broadcast a live programme to investigate the enduring mystery of the UFO “crash” in the Suffolk forest nearly 30 years ago – a story which has gripped enthusiasts across the world.

Host Mark Murphy spoke to a number of people who have an interest in the story in an attempt to uncover some truths during the live show, which was broadcast from the Cold War Museum on the former USAF Bentwaters base and the “landing” scene.

He said, after looking at the various theories, the one that seemed most plausible was that the “alien spacecraft” was actually an Apollo space rocket capsule which had been dropped following a helicopter accident early on Boxing Day 1980.
