When a Hellfire Missile Meets a UFO: An Unexplained Incident

When a Hellfire Missile Meets a UFO - An Unexplained Incident - www.theufochronicles.com

This week's top creature feature took place during the latest congressional UFO hearing in Washington when those in attendance viewed a military video taken off the coast of Yemen last year, showing a Hellfire missile attacking a UAP/UFO, where the detonated missile appeared to simply bounce off the object.

First, I'm not sure about the wisdom of firing on something unknown, but maybe there was more going on than we know.

Second, if this video didn't finally make a case for all of those reported incidents from at least World War II and going forward -- usually doubted by the skeptics -- of incidents where military pilots all but swore on their very lives that they KNOW they fired and made contact with things in the sky resulting in no apparent effect or damage whatsoever (except for cases where the pilots themselves were allegedly affected by intense heat sources after gaining on such objects), I don't know what will.

A close observation of this week's main video isn't required to note also that as the missile apparently hit its mark some smaller objects seem to have separated from the UFO -- which, unaffected, immediately followed the primary object as it soared along.

Reaching back to the early sixties, I fondly remember my file folders stuffed with letters from government officials and various authorities pretty much denying the very existence of UFOs. At least those days may meet a well-deserved end. We hope.

So what exactly was going on in that military video? Does established (or crazy) science have a clue? As we're all forced to bow to artificial intelligence, and risks to humans not yet imagined likely to accompany its progress, will AI make perfect sense out of the often nonsensical appearing UFO quagmire?

The video:

I don't know what's going on, but I had a thought or two, ASSUMING this is a real video of a genuine unknown.. For instance, did the UFO have an ability to "read" everything about the missile before it even struck? Did the object have a quality wherein it knew everything about the missile just as it hit, allowing a fractional split-second response? A precognitive sense? Did it know what the drone's pilot was thinking? We're already familiar with instances where UFOs appear to have locked on to and/or comprehended real-time conventional aircraft instrumentation well in advance of evasive or confrontational action initiated by human pilots.

Mirrors. I wondered. A mirror reflects an image. Does the UFO possess some technological mirror, somehow reflecting externally or internally what it encounters at light speed, duplicating what it then knows in order to react accordingly and swiftly? I suppose this would require some kind of protective external layer of plasma or electricity or whatever on the UFO, but like most mirrors busted into pieces by a smashing blow there would still be support structures behind them.

Could a UFO mimic precisely one and all the things it encounters in the sky to protect its environment? If atoms and molecules and substances of which we are perhaps unaware can be manipulated so that something as elaborate as a guided missile can instantly be detected in terms of force, mass and exact effects, can the mysterious sky-born enigma conjure up a similar force to cancel out its destructive qualities? A mirror image of what exists, in essence, causing said missile to collide with a duplicate, a clone if you will, of itself in an intricately altered space-time continuum, causing damage primarily to the dispensed missile?

In the realm of the impossible, is it possible that the UFO's very structure is composed so differently from our own aircraft that the meeting of missile and object have little or nothing in common with one another? Are UFOs like M&M candies, protected by a hard, impervious shell to keep the contents blissfully unaware of external forces? Exactly what keeps the strange objects out of harm's way, no matter what we throw at them? Can they be here and not here at the same time?

Anyway, this would be something for the physicists to contemplate, aside from historians perhaps mulling over troublesome theories of whether the UFO phenomenon's bright and shiny objects account for the origin of favored religions on Earth.

Beware or entertain the theories of an aging crackpot, but let's continue bringing on the military videos and films! If little else at the moment, science has been confounded by the UFO/UAP, and some of its cherished tenets appear to have been turned upside-down. Are we ready for more, or shall the UFO phenomenon remain the smiling Cheshire cat of the skies?

Bombshell UFO/UAP Claims and New Footage at Congressional Hearing

Bombshell UFO/UAP Claims and New Footage at Congressional Hearing www.theufochronicles.com

In a highly anticipated hearing titled "Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection," held on September 9, 2025, a House Oversight Task Force convened to scrutinize the U.S. government's handling of Unidentified

Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) AKA UFOs. The session, which featured compelling witness testimony and the public unveiling of new startling UAP footage, underscored a growing congressional push for greater transparency and robust protections for those who come forward with information.

Chaired by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets framed the hearing as a critical step towards holding government agencies accountable and rebuilding public trust. The overarching message from lawmakers and witnesses alike was clear: the era of secrecy surrounding UAPs must end, and individuals within the military and government who report these phenomena should be safeguarded, not silenced.

Eyewitness Accounts and Allegations of Retaliation

The hearing featured a diverse panel of witnesses, including U.S. Air Force veterans, a senior policy counsel at the Project On Government Oversight (POGO), an active-duty U.S. Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer (Operations Specialist) and seasoned Chief Investigative Reporter for KLAS-TV and longtime Ufologist, George Knapp. Their testimonies painted a picture of not only a long history of UAP/UFO encounters, but very recent incredible reports encased in a culture where reporting such incidents can lead to professional repercussions.

Chief Petty Officer Chief Alexandro Wiggins, provided a firsthand, fascinating account of a "Tic Tac-shaped" object emerging from the ocean (transmedium). The UFO was accompanied by 3 similar objects detected on multiple sensors, including radar, and video was recorded inside CIC using a Star SAFIRE multi-spectral EO/IR system. Wiggins stressed the critical need for "de-stigmatized channels" within the military to allow service members to report UAP encounters without fear of career damage or ridicule. His testimony highlighted the psychological and professional burden placed on those who witness unexplained phenomena.

Former “1N1” geospatial intelligence specialist for the U.S. Air Force, Dylan Borland stated that his professional career was "deliberately obstructed, and I have endured sustained reprisals from government agencies for more than a decade" after disclosing his own UAP experience at Langley Air Force Base in 2012. Such accounts resonate with a broader narrative among UAP proponents who argue that fear of reprisal has long suppressed valuable information.

Unveiling New Footage and Escalating Concerns

One of the most dramatic moments of the hearing came with the public release of new UAP/UFO footage by Rep. Eric Burlison (R-MO). The video purportedly shows a U.S. military drone engaging a high-speed orb off the coast of Yemen in October 2024, with a Hellfire missile reportedly bouncing off the object. While the authenticity and full context of the footage remain subjects of ongoing discussion, its public presentation in a congressional setting marks a significant escalation in the official acknowledgment of UAP encounters.

This footage, alongside expert commentary from investigative journalist George Knapp and additional testimony from U.S. Air Force Veteran Jeffrey Nuccetelli, contributed to a sense of urgency among lawmakers. The implication that UAPs may not only be present but could also be demonstrating advanced capabilities beyond current human understanding, further fueled calls for serious investigation and open disclosure.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle emphasized the need for tangible legislative action. The calls included:

Increased Transparency: Demands for government agencies to declassify and release UAP-related information currently withheld from the public and Congress.

Ending Over-classification: A push to reform classification protocols that may be unnecessarily shrouding UAP data.

Strengthened Whistleblower Protections: Proposals for robust legal frameworks to safeguard individuals who come forward with information about UAPs, ensuring they are protected from professional retaliation, harassment, or intimidation.

The hearing served as a powerful signal that UAP/UFOs are no longer a fringe topic relegated to speculative discussions. With compelling eyewitness testimony, new evidence, and a unified congressional push, the movement for UAP/UFO transparency and accountability appears to be gaining unprecedented momentum, moving from the shadows into the mainstream political discourse. The push for restoring public trust through open dialogue and protected disclosures marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing exploration of phenomena that continue to defy easy explanation.

Historic Congressional Hearing On UFOs, UAP – VIDEO – www.theufochronicles.com

"What concerns me is that there is no 'Oversight' from our elected officials on anything associated with our government possessing or working on craft that we believe are not from this world"–Retired Navy Cmdr. David Fravor

WASHINGTON—The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs held a hearing titled, “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications in National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” Subcommittee members
discussed with witnesses the lack transparency and proper reporting mechanisms within federal agencies for air crew to report Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) interactions. Subcommittee members also discussed how pilots who report UAP encounters have faced harsh retaliation both professionally and personally, leading to a lack of desire to report UAP encounters and creating gaps in national security intelligence gathering.
Key Takeaways:

Federal agencies have poor or non-functioning internal reporting processes for military and commercial air pilots who encounter UAP. This has led to a lack of transparency, which has fueled speculation and eroded public trust.

• Ryan Graves— Executive Director for Americans for Safe Aerospace—testified on the ramifications that a lack of transparency can bring on the topic of UAP: “The government knows more about UAP than shared publicly, and excessive classification practices keep crucial information hidden. There’s a lack of transparency around UAP that’s unsettling. Since 2021, all UAP videos are classified as secret or above. This level of secrecy not only impedes our understanding but fuels speculation and mistrust.”

Commercial and military pilots who have reported UAP encounters have faced severe retaliation, damaging their professional careers and personal lives which has led to a chilling effect of pilots reporting interactions with UAP.

• David Grusch— Former National Reconnaissance Officer Representative, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Task Force at the Department of Defense—testified on the retaliation he has faced from reporting on UAPs: “It was very brutal and very unfortunate some of the tactics they used to hurt me both professionally and personally to be quite frank…there were certain colleagues of mine who were brutally administratively attacked and it actually makes me very upset.”

Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs Chairman Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) examined the lack of training and internal reporting systems for military service members and commercial pilots to report and assess UAP information.

Rep. Grothman: “Do feel adequately trained and briefed on how to handle encounters with UAPs?”

Mr. Graves: “No. Right now military witnesses to UAP have limited options for reporting UAP. But more concerning is that the commercial airline aviation sector has not adapted to the lessons that the military has implemented. The military and DOD have stated that UAP represent a critical aviation safety risk, we have not seen that same language used being used in the commercial markets. They are not acknowledging this risk.”

Rep. Grothman: “What steps do you think need to be taken to improve pilots’ UAP reporting?”

Mr. Graves: “Right now we need a system where pilots can report without fear of losing their jobs. There is a fear that the stigma of being associated with this topic is going to lead to professional repercussions, either through management or perhaps through merely physical check. Having a secure system and reducing the stigma, and making this information available to the public is going to reduce the concerns that air crew have.”

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) discussed how the DOD spends massive sums of taxpayer dollars while continuously failing audits yet refuses to share UAP findings with the public.

Rep. Burchett: “We audit the Pentagon every year and I’ve been here five years and they failed the damn thing every year. They lose over a billion dollars a year, we think, and I’ve been the Department of Defense maybe 60% of their assets are unaccounted for or whatever the heck that means. In the public sector you go to jail for that kind of crap.”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) highlighted how the stigma around UAPs has caused pilots who report their encounters to experience draconian consequences from officials within U.S. National Security space.

Rep. Luna: “In the last couple of years, have you had incidences that have caused you to be in fear for your life for addressing these issues?”

Mr. Grusch: “Yes, personally.”

Rep. Luna: “I just want everyone to know not that he’s coming forward in fear of his life to put in perspective if there were really not scared about this information, why would someone be intimidated like that?”

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) discussed the significant levels of underreporting of UAP due to pilots being fearful of retaliation, leading to a loss of potentially valuable national security intelligence gathering.

Rep. Mace: “What percentage of UAP sightings in your belief go unreported by our pilots?” Mr. Graves: “This is an approximation based off of my personal experience speaking with a number of pilots, but I would estimate we are somewhere near five percent reported.” Rep. Mace: “So 95 percent basically don’t report seeing UAP?” Mr. Graves: “That’s my personal estimate.”

UFO Researcher, John Greenewald Wants Congress To 'Turn Up The Heat' – INTERVIEW

The UFO Chronicles - UFO Researcher, John Greenewald Wants Congress To Turn Up The Heat – INTERVIEW

For many UFO researchers, a congressional hearing Wednesday is long overdue, and a big step toward bringing more transparency to a topic that many consider a punch line. John Greenewald Jr. is one of them.

He submitted his first Freedom of Information act request on UFOs when he was 15 years old. Now, 27 years later, he runs an online database called "The Black Vault" with more than 3 million declassified government documents. Greenewald says
he's "encouraged" by the hearings, but he wants Congress to "turn up the heat" and get testimony from agency leaders.

Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena UAP / UFOs To Be Held By National Security Subcommittee

Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena UAP / UFOs To Be Held By National Security Subcommittee Artwork by www.theufochronicles.com

The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” The subcommittee hearing will explore firsthand accounts of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP)

and assess the federal government’s transparency and accountability regarding UAPs’ possible threats to U.S. national security. This hearing will also highlight legislative efforts to bring transparency to UAPs and require the federal government to provide the American people with information about potential
risks to public safety and national security.

“The Pentagon and Washington bureaucrats have kept this information hidden for decades, and we’re finally going to shed some light on it. We’re bringing in credible witnesses who can provide public testimony because the American people deserve the truth. We’re done with the cover-ups,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).

In 2022, at the direction of Congress, the Department of Defense created the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate UAP reports. The federal government spends millions of dollars examining UAPs yet refuses to be forthcoming with the American people as it continues to declassify certain videos and studies on various UAP incidents with little clarity on the subject’s origins.

“The status quo on the part of the U.S. government has been to leave the American public in the dark regarding information about UAPs, refuse to answer questions posed by whistleblowers, avoid the concerns Americans have about the possible threats UAPs pose to our national security and public safety, and default to extreme and unnecessary over-classification. If the last few months have taught me anything, it is that this is an issue that matters to Americans. It also impacts the transparency and accountability our government is supposed to grant to the people who it serves. I look forward to bringing this topic to light,” said Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

Presentation Re UFOs to a US Congressional Sub-Committee

Presentation Re UFOs to a US Congressional Sub-Committee

New US Congressional hearings on UFOs?

In a post dated 28 June 2018, titled "New US Congressional hearing on UFOs?" I explored which Congressional committee might be undertaking a fresh look at the UAP topic. The best fit for this, is the US Congress' Senate Armed Services Committee.

Further research led me to conclude that it is the subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which is the actual interested party.

Indeed, my research shows that this very subcommittee, has oversight of the area of the US Department of Defense, where I believe the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program

Chase Kloetzke
Chase Kloetzke
Now, thanks to the eagle eyes of Canadian researcher Paul Scott Anderson, it has come to my attention that MUFON's Director of Investigations, Chase Kloetzke, was interviewed, on 25 September 2018 by Alejandro Rojas. Part of the interview was about Washington politics. The following are my notes on the relevant portion of this interview.

Chase mentioned that she now lives in Washington, DC, and two years ago obtained a lobbyist's identification. After spending six months learning the Washington political system, she started making telephone calls. She now has been promised a ten minute time slot to provide a presentation on UAP, but hopes this might lead to more time in future. The presentation is to the "threat assessments subcommittee" and will be a package of evidence from a recent case that MUFON and NICAP have investigated.

She said that anyone could get their foot in the door. They do background checks but she was not asked to show her lobbyist's identification at any time. You need to be careful how you present to them. They care about what is going on today. The case she will present, is a "door opener." You also need to follow the money the $22M. Senator Rand Paul had a meltdown over this money. Chase called his office and said that if the AATIP is still going, who is funding it? Let me know what you find out.

So, if Chase is presenting to the "threats assessments subcommittee" this is likely to be the US Congress' Senate Armed Services Committee's subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities (or a staffer for this subcommittee.)

It should be noted that while the US Congress House of Representatives also has an Armed Services Committee, subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities it would appear that the Senate subcommittee of the same name, is in the lead at the moment.

I hope that Chase Kloetzke is able to keep us all informed of the results of her presentation.

I welcome hearing from any blog reader who might be able to throw additional light onto the contents of this post.

Navy-UFO Encounter – Pt 3: Contact Your Congressman for Investigation

U.S. Navy Carrier Strike Force 11 Encounters Unknowns on November 14, 2004 near San Diego

In Part I of this series I told you about an amazing UFO encounter that occurred between the USS Nimitz, USS Princeton, an E-2C airborne early warning aircraft, four Navy F-18 Super Hornets and a Marine F-18. In Part II I told you about emails that I received from the Navy JAG where a Marine Lt Colonel and a Major confirmed that they were aware of this UFO encounter as were at least seven other Navy and Marine officers. Now in Part III I will explain how you can help and make a difference. This is your chance to pressure your congressman to investigate this incident. If everyone acts together, there is a

reasonable chance that the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services will ask for a debriefing on the incident.

The Senate Armed Service Committee is the congressional organization that would receive a debriefing and this is why we are also sending a letter to John McCain who is the Chairman of this committee. The four steps below will guide you. The letter to your congressman has already been written and the wording of the letter has been carefully chosen to provide the best chance at success.
Step 1Share/forward this information with all of your friends that are interested in a solution to the UFO phenomenon. This is the most important action that you can take. Let’s get thousands of letters sent!

Step 2 – Go to the following link to identify your congressional representatives by entering your address including your state:

https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/

You will have two senators and one representative. Click on their “Official Website” to obtain their physical address and use their address that is in Washington, D.C.

Step 3 – Download the following letter: Letter to Congressman.

Add the appropriate name of your senator or representative, print, sign the letter, use the address from Step 2, and then mail it. You will have three letters for your two senators and one representative. Physical mail with a personal signature has more effect with your congressman than an email.

Step 4 – Download the following letter to Senator John McCain here: Letter to John McCain. Sign your name and use the address shown in the letter heading to address your envelope.
Thank you for support! Once you’ve sent your letters, please send an email with the subject line “I voted from ‘name of your state’” to robertmaxpowell@gmail.com This will allow me to measure the effectiveness of the campaign.

UFO sighting in Britain on 10th July 2005
During the recent presentation about Tom Delonge's new company, reference was made to an alleged UFO incident involving the USS Nimitz in November 2004. That discussion was accompanied by an image (left)(which was in fact of a sighting in Britain on 10th July 2005, probably of a balloon). That

sighting is now being associated with footage (see below) which has, supposedly, recently been "leaked" online. In fact, that footage was posted online in 2007 and I reposted it recently in response to a request from another researcher that was having difficulty obtaining it.

Back in 2007, I tracked the first online copy of the video back to the website of a group of German film students that specialised in creating science-fiction movies with lots of special effects (Vision Unlimited). The story being posted back then didn't make sense and promised evidence was never supplied. The person posting about the video on ATS denied that he was a member of that group of film students and claimed that the video was uploaded to their website because it was more secure than websites in the USA. Mmm. This doesn't (and didn't) necessarily mean that the footage was a hoax but I found it rather interesting and, in the absence of the promised further confirmation/evidence, in 2007 I was inclined to reach the tentative conclusion that it was a hoax (while repeatedly requesting the promised further evidence that it was genuine).

I find it very interesting that the current rounds of discussion seem to ignore the provenance of the footage and don't mention that the footage was sourced from the website of several German film students interested in creating science fiction material. Are the researchers currently promoting this footage unaware of that background (which is easy to find online, in my posts in 2007 on ATS)or are they simply not mentioning this background (which I would find, um, questionable). I've been told that the footage has since been "authenticated" - but haven't seen any evidence of that.

U.S. Navy Carrier Strike Force-11 Encounters Unknowns – Pt 2

In December 2016 I submitted nine different Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the Navy and the Marines in an effort to establish whether the information on the UFO encounter that I discussed in Part I was real. (See the actual FOIA requests below).

Notice that I never used the term “UFO” in the request as this lessens the likelihood of success because of the negative connotations with the use of that word. This type of FOIA request was made for five different Navy assets that were involved in this incident; a nuclear

aircraft carrier, the USS Nimitz; a guided missile cruiser, the USS Princeton; an F-18 part of a Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA-232); two to four F-18 Super Hornets from a Navy Fighter Attack Squadron (VFA-41); and a carrier based airborne early warning aircraft (an E-2C from VAW-117). Requests were sent to Naval Intelligence, Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Marines Pacific, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Naval Research, Naval Surface Forces in the Pacific, Naval Air Warfare Center, Naval Facilities, Naval Sea Systems Command, and Naval History.

By April of 2017 I had received replies on all nine of my requests for information. In every case the Navy replied that they had no information responsive to my request. I appealed two of what I considered the most important of the nine FOIAs to the Navy’s Judge Advocate General (JAG). The first appeal came back denied. In the second appeal I pointed out to the Navy JAG officers that another appeal denial would would indicate that on November 14, 2004, that they had no records on five different Navy assets. I copied my senators and congressman on my appeal. This time I had success. Although the Navy again indicated that they could find no documents, this time they provided me emails with some very interesting information that establishes the encounter with the unknown craft did occur.

Remember in Part I of this story that the F-18 pilot referred to the objects encountered as resembling the oval candy known as tic tacs. JAG provided me an email they received from a Marine Lieutenant Colonel that began as follows: “I am definitely aware of the ‘flying tic tac’! We were aboard the USS Nimitz attached to CVW-11. The CO of VFA-41, CDR Fravor had the video footage on his ATFLIR and several pilots in VMFA-232 saw the video.” Bingo! Not only did this event happen, the video was witnessed by a number of Navy and Marine officers. Is the video the same one that was leaked to the internet? We can’t know for certain but I think if the Navy has done their due diligence then they still have a copy of that video.

And then a second email was provided to me by JAG from a Marine Major. In that email he states, “MAG-11 (Marine Air Group 11) Operations should have a Point of Contact at the archive to facilitate recovery of these files.” This clearly indicates that the Major would expect the Marine archival group to have copies of these records. And would it not be reasonable to expect that the Navy would have the records archived of such an extraordinary event! I will appeal again for a copy of those records.

In total, I have the names of nine different Marine and Navy officers who either participated in the encounter with the unknown craft or have direct knowledge of the event. I will again appeal for the actual case files but the only way to get to the bottom of this mystery is to ask a Congressional subcommittee to get involved. In Part 3 I will give you step by step instructions on how you can help petition your congressman. Please share this story with others.

I am going to tell you about a Navy-UFO encounter that deserves a congressional investigation to determine if this happened or not. I am going to create three posts related to a recent UFO event that occurred in November of 2004 and involved the Navy’s Carrier Strike Group 11 off the southwest coast of California. This will be the first post and it will include the information that I initially obtained on the incident. If after reading these three posts you are reasonably convinced that this event happened then I will ask you to join me in a letter-

Navy Carrier Strike group 11
Navy Carrier Strike Group 11
I was first told of this UFO incident in July of 2016 by an individual who was involved in the investigation of this event. He told me that the incident had been partially leaked to the internet, so that I could begin my investigation without involving my friend. Knowing a few of the key words I was able to locate the leaked story here: fightersweep.com (Ignore the UFO photos in the article as those are just add-ons by the author for effect and are not related to the actual event.)

What attracted me to this story was that it was not on a typical UFO site, but was found on a site authored by a formal naval aviator and who predominately writes about naval aviator stories, not UFOs. So he had no UFO agenda to push. And the author went out of his way to establish the excellent background of the commanding officer of the F-18s known as the Black Aces. The story was full of “navy talk” and I spent considerable time deciphering that WSO = weapons system officer, SPY1 = phased array radar, E-2C Hawkeye = type of airborne early warning aircraft, BFM = basic fighter maneuvers, etc. Once I had read the full story, I felt that there was a strong likelihood that the event my friend had directed me to had actually occurred.

I next began online investigations to verify the identity of the individuals in the story and I found that those officers were all legitimate and had served in the Navy during that time. I searched additional websites for clues to this event.

First, I found a Navy Event Summary document that had been leaked to the internet by an unknown source that mentioned this event. The document had much of the same information as was provided in the naval aviator’s story: dates and locations match up; USS Princeton detects objects on radar and dispatches the F18s; F18s don’t find a radar target but detect the object visually; F18s engage the unknown; and F18s are outmatched by the unknowns. I then ran the Navy Event Summary document by a retired naval officer and he indicated that the document looked legitimate in terms of its format. See documents below:

My friend who had originally told me about this case indicated that there had been video taken of the object and that it had been released to the internet several years ago and then was later removed. A copy of that video was obtained using the WayBack machine which is an internet site that maintains historical website data.

The video is taken in the infra-red and depicts a hot object in the video cross-hairs for about 75 seconds before the object rapidly moves out of the video frame and towards the left. The altitude shown on the video matches the approximate altitude of the jets and the shape of the object in the video matches the pilots’ descriptions. See video below:

Of these three documents, the one that I find the strongest is the story by the naval aviator. The Navy Event Summary and the F-18 video support the story but more was needed. The question in my mind then became---could I support this information from another source. In December of 2016 I submitted nine FOIAs to various departments of the Navy and Marines to try and verify this event. In Part II of this series, I will share the information on the FOIAs that I submitted.
