The Uncensored Truth Behind Ufology

UPDATE
3-3-11

Since the publication of this article, Mr Sanchez has published and offers for sale a PDF file [and now print book] entitled, UFO Highway; within the pages is a copy of a DD-214 allegedly belonging to "Colonel X"; a copy of said doc was faxed to the NPRC in St Louis where Sanchez claimed to have obtained the DD-214 via a FOIA request–they stated emphatically that the document was bogus.

Anthony Sanchez     This past week I have been preparing for a trip to Rio Rancho, NM to meet with Norio Hayakawa to discuss my book on Dulce and UFO research. I' ve been researching UFOs since my first hearing of Area 51 back in the late 80s. By 1990 I was really involved in Ufology, interviewing experiencers, attending discussion groups, and watching as many videotapes as I could. That' s right, video tapes - good old fashioned VHS tapes.

If you are as old as I am, or like me, you’ll know that the first real offerings of UFO videos came by way of "Block Buster Video" which was still relatively new at that time.

I can I remember renting every tape off the shelf that was a documentary on UFOs. This would be all the “In Search Of” tapes, and any other series narrated by your typical semi-retired Star Trek actor, etc.

Late one evening in 1996 I remember walking into Block Buster, and there it was ... UFO video gold ... "Area 51: Secrets of Dreamland - The Uncensored Truth Behind the Cover-up of the Century!" It was new, shrink-wrapped and boy oh boy, there were promises of “new information” … I just had to have it.

As it would turn out, this video was the perfect example for the precursor to what would become the Ufology industry' s typical talk format used for discussions on secret bases, UFOs, aliens, etc. Yeah, sure there had already been home-made tapes of MUFON conferences and of a few ancillary UFO symposiums in circulation at that time. But this tape was not like those. And no one could rival the level of knowledge that the presenter of this Video could. His name was Norio Hayakawa; yeah, that Norio.

People often ask me, "Why do you admire Norio so much?" Or they' ll ask, "Aren' t there other people who are more modern, hip, and up-to-date?"

I often respond with, "If you mean (modern) as in who can scare-or-freak-you-out-the-most … ‘modern’, then it is a firm, no."

You see, today there are too many people who would choose to hurt UFO research simply to make as many dollars as they can. And this is what I refer to as the "Freak Show Element." And to them my answer is also a firm, no. No … I do not want to hear you regale tales (not your own) of Reptoids raping women, or hear you talk of how your "Human-Reptile Intergalactic Defense Fund" (for which you desperately require more dollars for), is working hard to help fight Reptoid discrimination, or to seek support in lobbying congress to change the term Extraterrestrial (E.T.) to “Non-Space-Earthbound-Underground - whatever - whatever.” …Enough already.

What we have seen lately is the emergence from the dark ranks of Ufology. Those who create stories, do zero research, and work off the backs of others by poaching information and taking credit for it when it is not deserved; just think about "Sean David Mortenson" for bit, among others – and yes, you know who they are.

When I look for the best that this field has to offer, my personal library is a representation of what I expect from my self as a practicing UFO researcher.

Among my book collection you will find the works of Greg Bishop, Dennis Balthaser, Stanton Freidman, Scott Ramsey, Jim Marrs, etc. people who are exactly what they claim to be, "Serious Researchers".

What stands out about these people are the years of serious work they have accumulated to present their own supposition. Not to mention one person in particular who deserves credit for “not pushing his own ideas”, and who instead “allows others” to use his site as a true open forum … Frank Warren. It takes a lot of integrity to do that.

But one other person who so often gets overlooked because of his honesty, good nature and humble demeanor is Norio Hayakawa. Norio often allows others to step in front of him, and take the limelight; and if you know him, you often see that he' s never been one to ask for it. And in this field, most people are not willing to give it away.

Recently it was brought to my attention from an email sent to me by one of my website visitors, that Norio was supposedly (at the bottom) of the respectability list of UFO researchers.

Really? Are we talking about the same Norio Hayakawa? Excuse me, but if it were not for the work of Norio half of them wouldn’t have a pedestal to stand on while busy earning their "research dollars” selling books and talking at UFO conferences.

And incidentally, this tidbit of meanness comes by way of one self proclaimed Reptoid expert who ardently allies himself against Norio for not being invited to speak at the 2009 Dulce Conference.

Sorry, but I think Norio was right in thinking the people of the Jicarilla Apache Nation can do with out the “Freak Show Element” which only serves to diminish the true nature of the subject. Those who really study Dulce, know and will tell you that this whole notion of craziness surrounding the underground bases comes from fantastical stories created after (and from) the only two real sources of evidence; Paul Bennewitz and Myrna Hansen, everything else is highly speculative; period.

Remember that VHS tape I bought at Block Buster back in 1996? Incredibly my 12 year old son found the tape in the garage “just last week” (along with my – ahem - Tiger Woods, Highlights of the 1995 Masters Tournament tape).

I have not watched the Norio tape since 1997, thinking I had lost it when I bought my new home and moved some 150 miles away in 1998. That night last week, when my son found the tape, my wife, two sons and I sat there riveted for 83 minutes, astounded at what we were watching.

Norio presented data back then, which people are still discussing to this day; sadly, he gets no credit for these early topics. Topics such as conspiracies surrounding Area 51 & S-4, Tonopah, Edwards AFB, China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, Advanced Tactical Laser Weapons, Underground Bases, Dulce NM (Four Corners Area), Thermo-Nuclear Tunnel Boring Machines, Abductions, Sightings, Paul Bennewitz, Los Alamos, HAARP, Project Blue Beam, the enigma surrounding Serge Monast and so much more...

I mean you could take an entire season of UFO Hunters and see where much of their ideas come from. Okay, did Norio originate much of these ideas? No, not necessarily; but ask yourself this, “if you are a researcher, did you discover or originate the topic you are known for?” Unless you are Stanton Friedman the answer is no. However, simply looking at the tape will prove that even for those ideas not originally his; he sure as heck did have supporting News Paper clippings and Government documents to support his own added supposition.

And that is what separates a researcher apart from a pretender. And what I love is that in the video of Norio, there were no Power Point presentations with ominous sounding Background Music, or flashy graphics to detract from the real reason of the tape. Nor did he have an adjoining table with Books to Sell, etc. I don' t even know if Norio was aware he was being filmed! (I’ll ask him, upon having him sign my re-discovered VHS tape.)

In any event, the “Freak Show Element” needs to understand, that simply because Norio may not have the delivery of the “Sham-Wow guy” (as they tend to have), this does not mean he should be relegated to the bottom ranks of the "respectability list". The data talks louder than one-liners and appearances on Coast to Coast.

So to those who would refuse to recognize just how important Norio is to both Ufology and Conspiracy research … over the last three decades, I have something to say to them, "I too have a list, and you’re not on it." And my list matters to those who are like me; those who know the difference.

In closing, a certain (truth seeker) whose work I often read says this, "Always Telling the Truth Means Never Having to Remember Anything."

I' ll leave it at that.

England: A Hayes Sighting – May 2004

Hayes Sighting Image 1
By Michael Beckley
© 7-23-10

My name is Michael Beckley and my then girlfriend was Rene Smith. As she had not seen satellites going over in the night sky (she thought they could not been seen with the naked eye) I showed her that they could be observed with the naked eye. So whenever possible, we would be looking up at the night sky - if clear - to see what might be moving about against a starry background.

At 11.50pm on Saturday the 22nd May 2004 we had just left the Heathrow Club, Hayes, Middlesex, in England. We had been to a freestyle ceroc dance. As we walked to the car park I looked up to see if the sky was clear. I saw two red dots, one slightly ahead and abreast of the other. The colors were ‘brake light red’ but not glowing, they were moving slowly. I pointed them out to Rene and said, “Look satellites”, but then thought: “no satellites are silver because of the reflection of the sun, as they are in orbit and move at a constant speed.”

These two red dots were not aero planes. They started to increase speed, they were high up. I said, “Look meteors Rene, they are going to explode in a shower of light as they go over.” They now moved towards West Drayton. I found out much later that there is a Ministry of Defence (MOD) base near West Drayton, as well as an air traffic control centre on the other side of the town.

"Now The Pale White Lights Were Coming Back Straight Towards Us!"

It is very strange to see two red dots at night in the sky slowly accelerate, then move fast. Then they dipped downwards and seemed to cross their parallel flight paths - to end up on opposite sides now, coming back towards us at about a 45 degree elevation. There was a gap between the lights, which made me think it was a solid object with whitish pale lights at each end. No red lights now, just two pinpricks of light coming towards us and getting nearer, bearing down on us at 45 degrees. I then thought it was a plane but could hear no noise. Like myself, Rene had watched them go over and away.

Now the pale white lights were coming back straight towards us! I was standing right behind Rene. I grabbed her by the shoulders to move us in the direction of a nearby building and safety, just in case this thing was going to crash into the car park where we were standing. But before I could move her, one of the two lights began to move away but they were still coming at us and there was still no noise. I could now tell that they were very much independent of one another.

I braved it out with Rene and watched as they turned over (see Figure 1), going to our left and we turned slowly to watch these lights reveal an underside, lit up by a ring of lights which formed a circular disc. A ring of about 10 or 12 lights, the colour being a yellowish pale white, the same as the other object that was now furthest away, also showing its underside. I then observed, as they flew past - the nearest had a ‘hole’ in it. That was what I thought at first.

How weird! I expected to see stars through it, in the background. This was all happening quite fast. Then at the same time I saw that there were rings or slots with a framework around these slots. The framework being a red orange colour, the inserts to this thin framework being yellow. Now the black hole seemed like a lens looking at us because the object was now in plan view; underside ( Figure 2).

But the black hole was not a hole! I could see this now. It was like a thick black container, smoke-like wisps moving around its outer edge. There were a number of slots around this black spot that went out to the ring of lights. I could also see a radial line in the yellow slots where the frame work of orange had formed these rings around the underneath of these discs. The nearest disc wobbled slightly for a second. The weather conditions were clear - no clouds, no wind - half moon visible. I think they were now at about 600 hundred feet in altitude and maybe each 40 feet in diameter. I am used to seeing aircraft of all sorts. I’ve also done a bit of flying myself.

"What Are They?"

These discs - because that’s what I saw - maybe had a flying speed similar to a light aircraft but slightly faster, with no noise. The colours were matt and dull but sharp. I noticed that the outer lights (as in the drawing) were backlighting the framework between each light. So I could see all of the underside. It was as if a torch had been shone on a big round pipe. It seemed to have depth into the slots of yellow, within the red- orange framework. This was the same for both objects. The black round spot in the middle still had this thick black wispy “smoke” visible, slightly “boiling” around the edge.

Rene said, “What are they?” I said, “Ssshush, listen, remember the colours and watch,” as they sailed past.

Hayes Sighting Image 2
The disc furthest away was a lot higher and in front now. It turned from its underside angle to nearly side-on,. still showing its underside though. The object bringing up the rear, nearer to us, showing full underside ; like a painted dinner plate. It now started to speed up. It got faster and started to catch up with the first one, then the furthest one away started doing an aileron turn towards the south and Heathrow airport. The object that had caught up did the same and tucked itself just behind and below the one in front and both were in a turn to the south. I could now see the side view of these discs for a split second and saw that they were quite thin in section with a pinkish red colour on top. They seemed to slightly climb as they went over the trees and then were lost to our sight.

“Quiet”, I said to Rene and we stood there scanning the night sky. We spoke after about two minutes. I asked, “Did you hear anything?” Rene said that she did not, nor had I. Then we saw a plane going over, high up. We could just hear that and make out navigation lights. Rene thought they were coming back. I said, “It’s a plane,” and she said “Yes it is.”

She was bewildered. I was ecstatic and jumped up and down, swearing my head off at what we had just witnessed. I then felt a little disturbed. I knew I had seen something that was not an aeroplane but definitely craft. I felt that I should not have seen them. They somehow didn’t belong to this planet. The whole sighting lasted 40 seconds approx.

"They Were Two Flying Discs of Unknown Origin with an Unknown Power Source"

We went home feeling very strange indeed. I was aged 47 at the time of the sighting. I had good eyesight and I am a keen aviation enthusiast, so I say it wasn’t aeroplanes. They made no noise. It wasn’t UAV’s (unmanned aerial vehicles), it wasn’t electric model aircraft and I’ve yet to see two radio controlled models flying in perfect formation. It wasn’t laser lights; there was no cloud to bounce the laser lights off and it was a clear night and you could see stars out but I can tell you this: they were two flying discs of unknown origin with an unknown power source.

I have, after 2 or 3 years, produced a drawing of what we saw. It’s not 100%, I would say about 85%. I am not an artist. I didn’t want to do it but I knew I had to, as we had witnessed something unique. Rene is an artist and very good too but at the time she was not wearing her glasses. After a year or so she produced a painting. She saw them going over the trees; the main colour is spot on, but the outer lights as she saw them are merged into one. If only she had been wearing her glasses! It would have been a fantastic painting on canvas.

But writing this I have had to relive that night again and I am glad to have written this account so clear in my mind after 6 years.

"The UFO That Shut Down Hangzhou's Xiaoshan Airport Earlier This Month Was Definitely Not an Alien Spacecraft . . ."

Hangzhou UFO (Plane)
Hangzhou UFO 'Not Alien'

By www.shanghaidaily.com
7-26-10

THE UFO that shut down Hangzhou's Xiaoshan airport earlier this month was definitely not an alien spacecraft, experts from an UFO investigation team said.

The investigators from Beijing and Shanghai UFO study groups based their conclusion on pictures shot by witnesses. They said the pictures showed ordinary airplanes, Beijing Times reported today.

Xiaoshan Airport in Hangzhou was closed for about an hour after the UFO was detected about 9pm on July 7. Some flights were forced to land in nearby Ningbo and Wuxi airports.

After the airport was reopened, pictures shot by supposed witnesses circulated online. One showing a line of lights was shown all over the country, and was taken by a Hangzhou native surnamed Ma.

The experts said the pictures showed only the anti-collision and landing lights on regular planes, the report said.

MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Witness Recounts UFOs Near Doyle, California

My UFO Experience
Reader Submitted Report
[Unedited]
7-23-10

About the year 1976 I was returning from my sister's home to my father's down the hill. I saw 3 lights near the mountain close by Doyle, California. Doyle is about 4,300 ft above sea level and the mountain near it in north easterly direction are about 7,000 ft. altitude. The mountain is probably 4 miles away from Doyle. I would say at about the 6,000 ft. level and probably South west from the mountain were the three lights. They were motionless and the lights did not flicker with air temperature variations. There was one almost directly over my head; that means there were four total as I remember. It could be there was at the mountain but I think I remember 3 being there. I remember stopping to take a look; it was about 3:00 am. I looked up for maybe three minutes as I remember. Then as if communicated instantly all four lights clicked off. I did not hear a sound and did not or could not see any silhouette against the night sky. There was no sound of leaving, there was no sound at all; at anytime. Yet I knew somehow there was some mental connection with them. I could feel it somehow in my upper chest area and what felt like my mind. I somehow knew when they turned off the lights that they instantly and jointly decided and acted on their decision to leave; then they were gone.

I was an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force for four years then worked as an A & P licensed mechanic for seven more years for World Airways in Oakland California. I would have known if these were jets, reciprocating (airplanes with piston driven engines or helicopters. These were hovering silently and motionless. Their lights did not seem to have a directed beam. They were very bright but like a slightly different kind of light that I had not seen before. When they turned off they flicked of in what seems like instantly. With now afterglow of a filament as most light bulbs do.

I do not remember looking at my watch to see if time passed but I do not think it did. I somehow had the feeling that they decided not to do anything with me. They had been evaluating their decision somehow I felt connected to that line of communication. l had a distinct feeling that they were clinically non-emotional but had no intention of malice. It felt as though they had no feeling of connection other than pragmatic distancing of emotion much as I imagine some medical doctors to be distanced from emotional investment. It is more like that is all they knew somehow. Non-emotional but without malice of thought.

The Dulce Interview: Retired USAF Colonel Confirms Secret Military Installation at Dulce

The Dulce Interview
By Anthony Sanchez
www.ufohighway.com
7-22-10

Note: The following is an excerpt of the author's upcoming book-FW

HOAX UPDATE
3-3-11

Since the publication of this article, Anthony Sanchez has published and offers for sale a PDF file entitled, UFO Highway; within the pages (originally) is a copy of a DD-214 allegedly belonging to "Colonel X"; a copy of said doc was faxed to the The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) in St Louis where Sanchez claimed to have obtained the DD-214 via a FOIA request–they stated emphatically that the document was BOGUS (their word).

Background Information

Anthony SanchezThis interview was held at a private residence in Placer County, CA. on January 6th, 2010 conducted by researcher Anthony F. Sanchez, with a retired USAF Colonel to recall the events surrounding a classified 1979 incident which took place at Dulce, NM. This includes details involving (Colonel X) who was assigned to Dulce as part of a special Medical Detachment where he learned the history and circumstances surrounding the 1940 Dulce Discovery event; a harrowing event, as claimed by the Colonel, filled with many intriguing details, which have never been revealed to the public before.

Preface

Because of the enigmatic nature surrounding the UFO phenomenon and how it typically negatively affects those who come forth with disclosure, my source, (Colonel X), has requested anonymity.

Therefore, I have obtained the information from (Colonel X) with assurance that his name would not be divulged under any set of circumstances, or until such time that I am given permission to do so. His military record, academic credentials and current work as a professor in Northern California have been vetted and deemed completely legitimate.

On January 8th, 2010 (Colonel X) submitted to two tests by a certified forensic polygraph examiner. I specifically chose an examiner who knew nothing of the case as to prevent him from later remembering or identifying my source who requests total anonymity.

I personally structured all the questions (outside the innocuous), ensuring that we conceal the secretive nature of the ‘story’ away from the polygraph examiner. Also, the name of the subject was never given to the examiner, nor was his name asked during the exam. Again, this allowed us to retain anonymity of (Colonel X). But all questions were accordant to the Colonel’s understanding in that they reflected his direct involvement at Dulce. He passed two independent examinations.

The forensic Polygraph Examiner can 'possibly' reveal the identity of (Colonel X); as such, he was never made aware of the significance of Dulce or the reason for the exam. His selection (the examiner) was made after meeting specific criteria, ensuring prevention of leaks from discovery of the story’s premise. Therefore I will not divulge the name of the examiner used, except for revealing that he is a retired law enforcement officer and now a private investigator, also from Northern California.

All the accounts mentioned in this interview are real. There are no fictional characters, and each of these events happened exactly as I have written them based on the personal testimony provided by (Colonel X), the only known speaking 'first-hand witness' to events at Dulce.

And more than anyone else, I am still surprised as I am grateful, for this interview held with the Colonel. I firmly believe that his testimony will be the catalyst to the exposure of what really is happening beneath the Mesa at Dulce NM, and how it affects all of us.

Interview

January 6th 2010, 9:00 A.M. (PST)
Colonel’s Private Residence
Sierra Nevada Region, Placer County, CA

A.S.: Colonel, what are you doing today; are you still involved with the Military?

C.X.: No, after leaving the Air Force I went back to school and earned two post graduate degrees in Psychology. Today I teach graduate students at a college right here in Northern California. I’m still happily married and have three children. All three are grown now and doing quite well on their own, and I am very thankful they live close by.

A.S.: So you live a pretty normal life, was it always this way?

C.X.: No it wasn’t, and I guess that’s why we are here to talk.

During the latter half of my military career while I was still a Major with the U.S. Air Force I can remember how arduously hard I worked towards a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel. That’s all I wanted ... Anyhow, at about that time everything about my career was quite normal, proceeding quite well.

I was stationed out of McClellan Air Force Base near Sacramento, CA. assigned to a Medical Detachment specializing in an area of Psychiatric and Behavioral Studies for both the USAF (and occasionally the Central Intelligence Agency), typically my work involved trips to locations on joint Air Force-CIA special projects. I know that might sound surprising, but it’s accurate.

However, any normalcy in my life ended at about that time; everything I knew would change for many years to come. It began after I received orders to report to Edwards AFB, from there I would fly on a special assignment to conduct interviews at a secret installation in Dulce, NM. That was all I knew about the assignment.

I remember thinking to myself, “Where in the world was Dulce?” For one, I had never heard of the place. Secondly, and to the best of my knowledge, I was certain that none of the people I had served with knew of Dulce, either. It had never been mentioned before and was never on any list of installations that I had reported to.

The orders informed me that I was to adhere to strict protocol under our classified guidelines, as this was a top secret assignment. This was nothing new for me, my specialty detachment typically operated at various levels of classification, so our regular operating protocol was to always treat each new job with a standard compartmentalized approach.

I had been assigned on many top secret projects before, and in fact, the year before the Dulce assignment I had been on one particular job having to do with a recovery mission from a crash site located near Fort Irwin down south. A USAF C-130E Hercules with six men aboard had nearly collided several times with an object of unknown origin traveling at a super high rate of speed estimated at 1500-2000 miles per hour.

The survivors said the unidentified object appeared to be tracking them, almost playing with them, coming closer with each pass. One man reported that a deafening high-pitch sound penetrated the plane's walls, drowning out the aircraft's own engine noise, causing them painful headaches. By the final pass from the object, the C-130E immediately began to stall, ultimately crashing. Two men died.

This is what I did; what my detachment was for ... Our team reported to these types of incidents, and they happened more often than you would think.

My role was to assist with physical and psychiatric evaluations of any surviving personnel. Mainly what we would do was conduct an initial, that's medical lingo for a first interview with the patient, and then we'd investigate and document the investigation, all aspects. In some cases we'd facilitate triage if necessary and then conduct exit interviews before submitting our final report.

In any event, we never were sure as to what the entire nature of the Irwin incident was; however, one man we evaluated had been subjected to something so severe during the incident that eventually he had to be discharged, medically for mental instability.

And whatever it was they saw out there, was definitely traumatic enough to make them succumb to an arbitrary psychological condition causing both paranoia and terror. It was pretty severe.

I know you want to talk about Dulce, but it’s important that I mention this event, in addition to other areas of my work, because it's what prepared me for Dulce, and with a great level of relevance. You can be certain of it.

A.S.: Do you mean, relevant to your work?

C.X.: Exactly ... This assignment was something that caught me completely off guard. Something I don’t think I was prepared for ... even if the Air Force felt that I was.

I don’t know who recommended me, but I noticed that the two most qualified people in my area of expertise were pooled together for this assignment, me being one of them. Usually when on assignment we operated in a team of four to six people per detachment, but this time it was to be just three of us. Later a fourth would be added, but not in our field of expertise.

What I immediately can recall was that upon first reaching the entrance to the Dulce Installation was that it appeared to be eerily similar in design to that of Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station (NORAD) where I had been stationed twice before, except the entrance was half the size.

If you were flying above this place at any distance greater than a few hundred feet, you would never know it was there. Only by landing directly near the front gate on a obscure landing pad could you see the entrance. It was very clever how they used the desert land-cover to conceal the entrance. Only by coordinates could you find it.

A.S.: Colonel, I hate to do this … but before going into detail about Dulce can you briefly describe your work at Cheyenne Mountain?

C.X.: Well … before joining and starting OTS at Lackland, I had already earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Back then I had often pondered about one day earning an M.D. in Psychiatry, but once I was fully entrenched, I was too busy; and the travel involved quelled any ideas for additional higher education. Plus, Basic Officer Training had been tough enough.

So, at that time an M.D. was simply out of the question until after my military career was over, possibly. But wouldn’t you know it, I chose to forgo an M.D. in Psychiatry and decided that teaching Psychology would be a much more relaxing and rewarding career path for me after the military. And it is.

Anyhow, during my time with the Air Force I was selected for assignment with a classified medical detachment, as you know already. How we operated was simple, we specialized in performing a battery of psychological and behavioral evaluations of military personnel (from any branch) in two manners of protocol. One scenario would be to conduct psychological assessments of personnel after ‘Type-X events’, and in the other scenario, we would be called to evaluate potential candidates prior to consideration for any ‘special assignment’ that involved a unique set of circumstances, through both psychological and behavioral assessment.

A Type-X event or incident involves a death or accident caused by unknown phenomena. These events are classified, usually falling under some umbrella of secrecy; the very reason why my unit was created.

A.S.: Was it normal for your detachment to work at places like Cheyenne?

C.X.: Oh yes, at Cheyenne there was regular evaluation required for any potential long-term personnel slated for work at the installation. This was to help identify and combat the affects of working in various levels of prolonged confinement, especially within a deeply embedded or subterranean environment.

As you probably know, central operations at Cheyenne are housed at approximately 600 meters within the mountain and there are various levels of ranging depths to other key operating areas below the mountain’s base.

It was quite common to encounter new people who had reservations over working these assignments, but to the military … if these people were selected at the ‘top’ of their grade and ‘qualified’ with a specific specialization meeting certain requirements … well then, they had to be evaluated, and in rare cases (convinced) to perform their job.

This could be done either through psychiatric sessions, or by medicating, or both.

A.S.: Very interesting, are you saying that many people at NORAD are medicated?

C.X.: Oh no ... not at all. With about 1500 personnel operating the base at any one time, you maybe had 3-5 people with simple diagnoses such as low-level claustrophobic anxiety, the most common in these environments. But if we ever suspected that someone possessed a high-level or an acute claustrophobic or taphephobic anxiety … there was no way in ‘hell’ they would be permitted to operate there.

A.S.: Taphephobic?

C.X.: ‘Taphephobic’ is the fear of being buried alive. Anyhow, these situations would require too much physician interaction and the potential for bad effects from medicating, which would not be conducive to facilitating a successful work environment, for anyone.

No, anyone found to be suffering from any acute psychological condition as a result of the environment, was simply re-assigned. The work was the same every where I went on these assignments … except for at the Dulce installation.

A.S. :How was Dulce different?

C.X.: At first it was because of circumstance. My assignment was always the same: you conduct an investigation, perform psychological analyses of all the personnel involved, and then submit a final report to the commanding officer, but I had never had been asked to conduct a full investigation, in charge. Such an important task was usually reserved for assignment to a Lieutenant Colonel, someone generally at a director of operations level. At the time I was just a Major.

Change Needed in Roswell

Change
By Dennis Balthaser
www.truthseekeratroswell.com
7-20-10

Dennis Balthaser     Another Roswell UFO Festival is now in the history books, and in spite of a few “hiccups” along the way in preparation for the 2010 annual event, it was in my opinion a very successful event. During the 4-day event, the attendance on Saturday at the Roswell Convention and Visitors Center was as big as any I have attended.

The newly elected Mayor and one of the recently elected city councilmen made some comments that were picked up by the National media a few weeks before this years Festival was scheduled, that were detrimental to the city committee’s planning, and caused several entertainers and vendors to cancel. I agree with the Mayor that the cost of planning and operating such an event should be reviewed, however the return on such an investment to the benefit of Roswell appears to far outweigh the cost. The Festival affects everyone involved from the local t-shirt producer to American Airlines who are all involved, and looking to benefit from the Festival.

UFO Symposium Coordinator, City Festival Adviser and UFO researcher Peter Robbins gave an excellent presentation to the Mayor and city council at their monthly meeting July 8, emphasizing the importance of the city continuing to finance the annual festival. The Mayor thanked Peter, and agreed that the city of Roswell would continue to support the annual event, and anticipated that 2011 would be bigger than this year. I’m pleased that the Mayor and certain councilmen may have seen the benefits of continuing to support the Festival.

As it has been for the past few years, there are three conferences going on in Roswell during the annual event each July.

Guy Malone has one that examines the Roswell Incident from a theological perspective, assuming it was not an “ET” related incident. I personally welcome consideration of all possibilities in our combined effort to get the truth after 63 years, (although I may not agree with all.)

The UFO Museum, under the leadership of its current Director Julie Shuster, has an annual conference, which started back in the early 1990’s, when a few gentlemen in Roswell, and years before Shuster became involved as the Director, decided to organize an event. It grew in popularity each year with the 50th anniversary in 1997 possibly being the largest attended to date, nearly doubling the population of Roswell for a few days. When Shuster took over the Directorship of the Museum, problems began between her and several researchers and city personnel, resulting in a decline in attendance for the annual event.

Although the Museum received its share of the lodger’s tax in previous years from the city, the relationship between her and the city grew more hostile with each passing year. To the credit of the Museum (not it’s Director), the Museum does attract 150,000 people to Roswell each year, a considerable boost to the economy through merchants, t-shirt shops, restaurants, hotels and motels.

Realizing that the Roswell Festival was no longer reaching out to expand under the guidance of the Museum Director, and in fact declining in popularity, the former Mayor Sam LaGrone, stepped up and assembled a committee to organize a festival under the city of Roswell banner. On numerous occasions while I was on the city committee a few years ago, the city reached out to the Museum Director to join in with the city for the annual event. Shuster refused that offer time and time again, resulting in separate festivals the past few years, which is confusing to those attending each year, and has drawn a line in the sand between the city and the Museum Director.

Since becoming the Director of the Museum, Shuster has acquired a hand-selected board, utilized several CPAs, and started charging an admission to the museum, which the original founders of the Museum, (Walter Haut, Glenn Dennis and Max Littell), had strongly emphasized would never happen. More damaging in my opinion is the “control” she now attempts to place on speakers who participate in her annual event. They are instructed to NOT ATTEND any functions the city Festival has at the Convention and Visitors center because they are under contract to her for the duration of their stay in Roswell. Most of us researchers know each other and enjoy the infrequent times that we can get together during the festival, however this is no longer possible.

The problems caused by the Museum Director are much too numerous to list in this article, however I believe she hit a new low this past week. Last year the city Festival Committee created a Roswell UFO Hall of Fame induction ceremony to honor people to be drawn from three different categories: those involved in the incident itself, researchers, authors, investigators and lecturers, and contributors from the film, TV and documentary fields. The first inductee last year was Major Jesse Marcel, (the Intelligence officer of the 509th bomb wing stationed in Roswell in 1947.) Major Marcel’s award was graciously accepted by non other than Major Marcel’s son Jesse Marcel Jr., who himself became involved as a young boy, when his father brought debris by the house from the crash site, before returning to the base.

This year the city nominating committee selected three individuals to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Stanton Friedman, the original civilian Roswell Incident researcher, known world wide for his investigations, Paul Davids, movie producer of the 1994 feature film Roswell, and by unanimous selection by the committee, Walter Haut, the Base Public Relations Officer who wrote the July 8, 1947 newspaper article that we had captured a Flying Saucer. Only two inductees were installed in the Hall of fame however, because when the UFO Museum Director Julie Shuster, (who is Walter Haut’s daughter) was asked to accept the award on behalf of her father she refused to participate. Not only was that disrespectful of her father and the Roswell Incident, but also again indicated her unwillingness to work with anyone not under her domination, and only added more animosity to an already bad situation.

In an article in the Roswell Daily Record newspaper Sunday July 11th, Shuster said, “Peter Robbins had contacted her sister about nominating their Dad (Walter Haut) into the city Hall of Fame, and if you were inducting someone into the Hall of Fame, you’d think you’d ask their family.” Is a sister not family?

Walter Haut will eventually be inducted into the Roswell Hall of Fame as he well should be, with or without the current Museum Directors approval.

It’s time for a change at the Museum, and the continued support of her hand-selected Board of Directors that appear to ignore the ill will she creates within the community, with researchers and the media. Visitors to Roswell are not aware of these problems and don’t need to be, but those that are aware need to look at making changes for the betterment of the annual Festival, and what locals have to deal with throughout the year.

The Roswell Festival is an important part of the community and local businesses, and must start being handled so all will benefit. The UFO Museum is also an important part of the community, and vitally needed for those interested in the subject of Ufology, but the attitude of the museum’s leadership is a hindrance to that being accomplished.

Vendors and researchers I talked to at the Visitors and Convention Center after the event, indicated this was one of the best years they have had participating in the city Festival, and my congratulations to Festival Director Renee’ Roach, Peter Robbins, the members of the City’s UFO Festival Committee and to all of the volunteers for a job well done.

What are UFOs Now, Cooties, Boogers?

Who’ll do Larry King’s UFOs?

By Billy Cox

Billy Cox     Given the upcoming departure of Larry King from CNN, the not unreasonable next question is: Will the network continue to serve up the once-in-a-blue-moon UFO fare that marked some of The King’s more memorable moments?

Working on a well-sourced tip that a certain veteran producer was the real mover-shaker behind “Larry King Live”’s UFO programming (Larry allegedly is not a fan), De Void contacted said individual, who told De Void to contact yet another producer. This Another Producer protested that she was only in charge of bookings and couldn’t speak with the press unless authorized by publicity.

Understanding well in advance that such a query would fly like a pregnant rhinoceros in the pole vault, De Void nevertheless fulfilled the obligation and e-mailed one Ryan Jimenez at TBS Inc., in Tinseltown. Kept it simple, asked for permission to speak to a producer about CNN’s future UFO coverage. Jimenez replied: “Nothing to comment on — can’t predict the news.” De Void reminded Jimenez that certain things can be predicted, like the Roswell Anniversary Festival, same time every year and all that, then regurgitated the request. Jimenez pulled a Kevin Spacey in “Glengarry Glen Ross” with an abrupt “Not possible.”

Just for the sheer king-hell fun of it, De Void then asked Jimenez for Ted Turner’s contact information. And heard the slatted blinds slap shut three agitated time zones away.

OK, this is childish. What are UFOs now, cooties, boogers? Not something professional adult network execs with any dignity should be caught discussing with — gulp — the media?

Seriously — anybody out there have contact info on Ted Turner? Not a front-gate munchkin or corporate rat-maze phone tree but something with a luxury-suite human being on the other end? It’s Friday afternoon. Time for a decent lapse of judgement.
