UFO as ‘Circle of Lights’ Reported in New Hampshire
A New Hampshire witness stopped at a traffic light at Peverly and Middle roads in Portsmouth December 1, 2014, reported watching “a very large circle of white lights just to the northeast,” according to testimony in Case 61782 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
“It was approximately at the 10 o’clock position,” the witness stated. “Light cloud cover approximately 15,000 feet above ground. Lights very visible through the clouds. Lights did not rotate, however, there was another light that rotated around the stationary lights counter clockwise that gave the appearance of movement, but the circle of lights did not move.”
The witness described the lights.
“The circle of lights at times had a pinkish, light bluish hue, but were predominantly white. Maybe the pink-blue color was the result of the cloud cover.”
The witness watched the lights for a full minute.
“It stayed in the same place with the bigger light just rotating around the circle of stationary light. I kept trying to see if there was a craft there, but could not make out any shape of a craft as this was just above the cloud cover. My first thought is that whoever it was must have thought they were hiding above the cloud, but the lights were clearly visible.”
The light changed to green and the witness moved forward.
“I pulled off Middle Road at the Portsmouth Plains Ball Field to continue watching the lights, but they were gone. I drove slowly scanning the sky for the lights, but they were gone.”

Creators of UFO Hoax Come Forward
THE creators of a UFO hoax who set social media buzzing have come clean.
Several images of an unidentified object hovering over Portsmouth did the rounds last week, sparking speculation that the city could be the landing site of an invasion of green-skinned aliens.
But the explanation for the flying saucer has turned out to be not quite so dramatic.
The photos were faked in a publicity stunt to draw attention to an upcoming science fiction and fantasy festival. . . .

PEOPLE have spotted a strange flying object in the skies of Portsmouth and believe it could be a UFO
A grey-spherical object has been seen floating around in the sky, and claims it could be a cloud, an airplane or a bird have been shot down by those that have seen it.
Johnny Blackwell, 23, of Trevor Road, Southsea, said: ‘I don’t believe in UFOs, but when I saw this I didn’t know what it was.
‘It didn’t look like a cloud, and it was moving very fast.
‘It was a grey, disc-like shape, which I know sounds like a stereotypical UFO, but that’s what it looked like.
‘I don’t know much about military crafts, but this was very fast-moving and very odd to see.’
Johnny, a television and film production student at the University of Portsmouth, said he saw the object at around 7pm on Tuesday.
Other people have taken to Twitter to talk about the ‘UFO’. . . .

‘Aliens’ Inspire Portsmouth Pupils | VIDEO
Youngsters at Manor Infant School in Buckland, Portsmouth, were surprised when they arrived to see a crashed UFO early yesterday morning.
Surrounded by police warning tape, the spaceship was observed excitedly by the children as they explored around the crash area, looking for clues and finding them in the form of ‘space jelly’ and glitter.
It was the second year that alien activities have been held at the school.
The metre-high UFO was designed and built by the Year 2 teachers, and it contained an alien.
The spaceship crash was the culmination of a month of extra-terrestrial activities for Year 2 at the school. . . .
. . . Local police were involved in the story by filing a missing alien report, with the children following suite and creating their own missing alien posters.
The children were later told by police that they had found the aliens and brought them back to the school. . . .

Betty and Barney Hill UFO Collection Opens Friday at UNH

DURHAM — As Portsmouth resident Betty Hill drove her mother home on Route 108 at 8 p.m. Sept. 7, 1977, she saw large red and green lights on what she believed to be a UFO as she neared Trickling Falls in East Kingston. Later as she was driving home, she saw another UFO with red and green lights following railroad tracks near Route 107.4-14-09
Betty Hill's report of a UFO sighting is one of thousands she catalogued during her lifetime after she and her husband, Barney Hill, became known internationally for reporting they had been abducted by aliens in 1961 in New Hampshire's White Mountains.
The University of New Hampshire will host a public forum and celebrate the opening of the Betty and Barney Hill Collection exhibition Friday, April 17, 2009. The forum and exhibition highlight the couple's reported alien abduction in 1961, and Barney Hill's civil rights activism in New Hampshire in the 1960s.
The public forum, "Betty and Barney Hill: Tales of Alien Abduction and Civil Rights Activism in New Hampshire," begins at 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Building, Room 334/336.
Following the forum, UNH celebrates the opening of the Betty and Barney Hill Collection exhibition with a reception at 3:30 p.m. in Milne Special Collections and Archives and The University Museum, Dimond Library, Level 1. All events are free and open to the public.
The exhibit features "Junior," the leader of the aliens depicted in a sculpture and drawings, the dress Betty, UNH '58, wore the night of the abduction, notebooks, photographs, and documents about the abduction, as well as materials commemorating Barney Hill's work in the NAACP and on the New Hampshire Advisory Committee for the U.S. Civil Rights Commission.
Speakers include Kathleen Marden, Betty Hill's niece, who will present "Captured! The Betty and Barney Hill UFO Experience: The True Story of the World's First Documented Alien Abduction;" J. Dennis Robinson, editor of SeacoastNH.com, who will discuss Betty Hill's fame as the "First Lady of Flying Saucers;" and Valerie Cunningham, founder of the Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail, who will talk about "Barney and Betty Hill: The Civil Rights Story."
The events are sponsored by the UNH Center for New England Culture's Heritage New Hampshire Lecture Series, which is supported by an endowment from Heritage New Hampshire.
"The Betty and Barney Hill collection preserves two great New Hampshire stories. Barney Hill, an African-American U.S. postal employee, was a leading figure in the New Hampshire Civil Rights movement. At a time of segregated public facilities in Portsmouth in the early 1960s, he worked to ensure that the civil rights movement ended segregation in the North even as the eyes of the nation were on dramatic events in the South," said David Watters, director of the Center for New England Culture at UNH.
Betty Hill was a state social worker and a white woman whose mixed-race marriage was unusual at the time, Watters said. "What might have been a relatively private life for the couple changed forever when the story of their supposed abduction and examination by aliens in a spacecraft, not many miles below the Old Man of the Mountain, became public in 1965."
The Betty and Barney Hill Collection at UNH consists of thousands of items stored in 87 folders, including correspondence, personal journals and essays, manuscripts, newspaper clippings, photographs, slides, films, audio tapes and artwork. "UNH is a fitting place for the collection, since it connects to the growing collection of New Hampshire African American materials. The alien abduction collection will always be the primary source for study of the first and most famous case of this interesting American phenomenon," Watters said.
