Stan Romanek Trial Delayed

     Legal proceedings were delayed yet again on the charges of child sexual exploitation brought against Stanley Romanek. A motions hearing scheduled for Sep. 2 was continued until Oct. 5, 'Loveland Reporter-Herald' journalist Dana Rieck stated today by email. A jury trial previously scheduled to begin Oct. 5 is now postponed until November.

“Stanley did not appear in court Sep. 2,” Rieck explained, “his motions hearing was continued before that date until Oct. 5 at 9:30 a.m. His jury trial is scheduled for the following month. He did plead not guilty to both felony counts.”

Rieck has covered the case for the 'Reporter-Herald' since Romanek was initially arrested. She reported in March that the self-described alien abductee was ruled mentally competent to stand trial for the felony charges stemming from possessing and distributing child pornography.

In more recent developments, Lisa Romanek continued her attempts to build public support for her husband through implicating the Loveland Police Department, and specifically Det. Brian Koopman, in acts of corruption. Det. Koopman, who was involved in the investigation of Stanley Romanek, is currently on administrative leave pending charges of attempting to influence a public servant during an unrelated murder case. Allegations of misconduct surrounding violations of constitutional rights have been leveled against the detective in two additional instances and legal outcomes are pending. Koopman has reportedly received seven meritorious service awards and 20 department performance case involvement recognitions.

Lisa recently posted comments at 'The UFO Chronicles' in which she referenced the charges against Koopman and suggested they be given more attention. Such circumstances and the promotion of the accompanying implications are not unusual.

Given much less attention, however, is the fact that to date neither the Romaneks nor their supporters have offered any specific details of exactly how Stanley was purportedly framed by corrupt police officers. Neither have they provided any verifiable evidence supporting ongoing allegations the man was targeted by intelligence agencies attempting to silence his outspoken stance on an alleged alien presence.

Further omitted from the ongoing yet vague narrative is the fact the investigation of Romanek was initiated in 2008 by Homeland Security Special Agent Darrel Franklin, not the Loveland Police Department. The latter acted on a tip provided by DHS, and it was officers from Greeley, Larimer and Loveland Police Departments who jointly served a search warrant, not just Det. Koopman and the LPD. Furthermore, it was the Northern Colorado Regional Forensics Lab that analyzed Romanek's confiscated computers and reported locating over 300 images depicting child pornography and multiple child pornography videos.

Lisa, however, maintained the resulting police reports were “filled with crap.”

“Koopman had filled these reports with lies,” she told 'The Huffington Post' in 2014.

Reporter Sebastian Murdock nonetheless observed that Koopman's was just one police report of many that corroborated the findings of one another during the serving of the search warrant. Some therefore find the ongoing fantastic claims and unsupported assertions of the Romaneks and their backers extremely difficult to take seriously, and patience has long since worn thin in many circles.

The Romanek case was briefly removed recently from a Case Tracking Summary maintained by the Larimer County District Attorney's Office. The file consists of cases that receive media attention. Public Information Officer Jodi Lacey explained in an email Tuesday that the Romanek case was not getting much attention, and it was removed due to the lack of calls and emails received. Officer Lacey subsequently returned the case to the summary spreadsheet following an inquiry of its status.

Romanek Incredibly Claims He Discredited Himself as Instructed During Death Threat

     Controversial alleged alien abductee Stan Romanek was back in front of the camera recently making more difficult to believe allegations. Romanek apologized in a video published July 5 (see below)for his well known stunts on a 2014 episode (see below) of the Peter Maxwell Slattery Show, in which he was observed on video trying to discretely throw objects about while suggesting paranormal events were occurring. However, along with his recent apology, Romanek outrageously asserted that he was intentionally discrediting himself as instructed at the time or else suffer grave consequences to himself and/or loved ones. Slattery, who accompanied Romanek in the July 5 video, rather incredibly framed Romanek as courageous for coming forward to supposedly set the record straight, suggesting Romanek was forced to live with tremendous guilt and conflict knowing he had disappointed his following but did so as a sacrifice to protect his family and friends.

The duo repeatedly alleged that the Romanek case was very serious due to the many death threats directed at Romanek and the purported extents of government interest. Also repeatedly referenced was documented evidence of such circumstances, but the purported evidence was never presented. Many will suspect that even if the individuals sincerely believe such evidence exists, it is not documentation of the things they believe it to be, but indicative of other, much less extraordinary circumstances. It is indeed difficult to accept such people are in grave danger who allege so in videos posted on YouTube and filmed from their home.

Lisa Romanek appeared in the recent video and suggested the purported death threats that resulted in Stan discrediting himself were somehow related to his 2014 arrest on child porn charges, but offered no specific evidence of such circumstances or details of her reasoning. The Romaneks deny his guilt and generally assert the charges were part of a state-sponsored campaign to silence him and devalue his credibility. A trial is scheduled for October. Lisa additionally discussed Stan's purported attack following his arrest, circumstances of which a Loveland Police detective was extremely skeptical.

Stan Romanek opened the video by discussing what he alleged to be numerous instances of his phone being tapped, spanning many years, his computer hacked and related circumstances. He provided no confirmation of such claims.

Also leveled were claims of a bomb threat once occurring at a venue where Romanek was scheduled to speak, but, again, documentation thereof was not actually presented, nor was evidence that it had anything to do with either Romanek or extraterrestrials. One such claim of a break in and bomb threat surrounded a Romanek appearance in 2009, but there were reportedly no local police records of any resulting investigations. Some suspected the incidents were related to publicity stunts.

While the more loyal of Romanek's supporters may be pleased with his latest video appearance, others will no doubt find it indicative of the widespread lack of critical thinking and perpetual absence of direct evidence that typically plague the alien abduction genre. If claims of alien abduction are expected to be taken literally, then proof of their validity must be presented. Anything less does not warrant such an extraordinary conclusion. Convoluted tales carrying indirect implications many times removed from a cogent point may be entertaining to some, but it will never substitute for actual direct evidence and verifiable proof.

Romanek has some serious legal issues and potential related mental health challenges. By his own admission in the latest video, he has been under tremendous stress. It is not clear his supporting cast fully understands the situation or all of its implications. Regardless, the seemingly desperate tactics employed are arguably evermore disturbing, particularly given the overall set of circumstances.

STAN ROMANEK UPDATE: Trial Date Set in Child Porn Case

     A Colorado judge recently ruled Stan Romanek competent to stand trial. The high profile and controversial alleged alien abductee was arrested and charged with distribution and possession of child pornography on February 13, 2014. Several medical and mental competency tests have since been conducted, resulting in the court ruling the case may proceed. Trial is tentatively scheduled for October.

The initial charges reportedly stemmed from the Department of Homeland Security contacting local law enforcement after discovering incriminating files shared from the IP address of Romanek's residence. A subsequent search of the home resulted in the confiscation of two computers containing some 300 images and 17 video files associated with child pornography.

Camp Romanek has maintained his innocence. Supporters frequently suggest his UFO-related activities and outspoken stance on an ET presence resulted in a government conspiracy to discredit him. Defense attorney Kathryn Hay presented to the court that Romanek believed he was being harassed by a space organization. She also noted the police did not investigate other people living in the Romanek home or his physical whereabouts at the specific time the computer files in question were downloaded.

Critics remain skeptical of Romanek's allegations, citing years of significant inconsistencies contained in his claims and accompanied by unsubstantiated accusations of government conspiracies. As recently as February, 2014, Romanek was the alleged victim of a reported assault in which police records indicated he accused authorities of conducting. Loveland Police Department Detective Henry Stucky eventually suspended the case due to what he termed a lack of suspect information and concluded the evidence was not consistent with the reported fight having actually occurred.

     Self-described alien abductee & accused child porn distributor, Stan Romanek, returns to court, once again for a "preliminary hearing" at 9:00 am on the 21st (1-21-15), according to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office on-line court tracking summary.

In Romanek's last court appearance, he was deemed mentally, competent to stand trial, following his arrest on February 13th on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Romanek's attorney argued that his client wasn't competent to stand trial, following an alleged beating that the defendant claimed occurred on February 24th, while going out to retrieve the mail in front of his house.

Post investigation by the Loveland Police Department the case was "suspended," for conflicting evidence (in accordance with an attack) and lack of suspect information.

     The case of Stanley Romanek, a 51-year old Loveland man facing felony child exploitation charges, was continued again on Thursday.

Loveland police arrested Romanek Feb. 13 on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography.

The defense attorney requested a new competency evaluation be conducted by the Department of Human Services after having reviewed the evaluation from the psychologist hired by the Public Defender's Office.

The judge accepted the request and ordered an evaluation to be conducted at the Colorado Mental Hospital in Pueblo on an out-patient basis.

Romanek will appear in court again Oct. 2 at 10:30 a.m. . . .

     DENVER - A Loveland man who claims he was abducted by aliens is due in court Wednesday on child pornography charges.

Stan Romanek was arrested February 13 on suspicion of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Romanek is known for his claims of personal contact with aliens - and a grainy, black and white video that he claims shows an alien looking in through his window. . . .

Police detective: Evidence not consistent
of a fight in Romanek assault case

“The physical evidence, specifically the neatly cut piece of cloth and the confined space the broken glass was in was not consistent with a fight having occurred.”

     A report released Monday by the Loveland Police Department included statements from Detective Henry Stucky who concluded physical evidence was not consistent with a fight having occurred in the reported assault of Stanley Romanek. An investigation into the Feb. 24 incident resulted in no suspect leads, reported Stucky, who has now suspended the case due to lack of suspect information. . . .

    . . . Stanley Romanek appeared in 8th Judicial District Court on Wednesday with his public defender, who requested that the scheduled preliminary hearing be continued. Romanek was arrested by Loveland police on Feb. 13 on allegations of possession and distribution of child pornography.

According to his attorney, Romanek receives services related to cognitive deficits, and a psychologist hired by the public defender's office will assess Romanek and determine his competency to proceed.

A status conference was scheduled for 2 p.m. on July 7. . . .

UFO Conspiracy Theorist Stan Romanek Says Child Porn Charges Are Gov. Conspiracy

     On a sunny day in April 2013, police swarmed a suburban Colorado home to execute a search warrant on suspicion of child pornography. Their suspect, a well-known UFO conspiracy theorist and self-proclaimed alien abductee, walked outside to see investigators approach his house. That's when police say he ran.

Stan Romanek of Loveland has gained a cult-like following for his videos, talks, and supposed proof of extraterrestrial visitations.

. . . A 54-page document obtained by The Huffington Post contains police reports detailing an investigation that dates back to 2008. It also paints a striking narrative of Romanek himself, who adamantly believes that his arrest is part of a conspiracy to silence his work.

'Girls Are Posed In A Seductive Manner'

In 2008, Homeland Security Special Agent Darrel Franklin was working on an investigation into Web users sharing child pornography over peer-to-peer networks like Limewire and Emule. An internet protocol address traced back to Romanek allegedly had child pornography dating from August to December of that year, according to the report.

"Descriptions indicate that there were files that depicted very young girls being sexually assaulted," the report reads.

The following May, the case was passed off to the Loveland Police. Detective Paul Arreola said he was unsure how to proceed because, at the time, his department did not deal in internet crimes.

Two years later, the Loveland Police Cyber Crimes Unit was founded. Arreola wanted to reopen the case, but the information was deemed "too stale," according to the report.

In March 2013, Franklin once again allegedly found pornography on Romanek's computer.

"The pictures contained images of girls that spanned an age range of approximately 5 years old to approximately 12 years old," the report reads. "In each of these photos, the girls are posed in a seductive manner and are exposing their breasts and genitalia. Several of these girls are very young and unmistakably children."

The information was sent to the Loveland Police Department, who were now equipped to act. . . .

. . . Romanek's thumb drives and computers have been analyzed by the Northern Colorado Regional Forensics Lab. NCRFL investigators said they discovered "over 300 images depicting child pornography" and multiple child pornography videos from a laptop located inside a bag that was in Romanek's office closet. . . .
