The 2018 UFO Wave in Full Swing - Argentina

The 2018 UFO Wave in Full Swing - Argentina

-The Spectacular 2018 Flap Shows No Signs of Stopping-
-Nearly Simultaneous UFO Events-

Two incidents - separated by 90 minutes and 160 kilometers in a straight line from each other, Lobos/Dolores - took place in the early hours of Monday, November 19, a time at which the

airspace over Buenos Aires was fenced off due to the G20 Summit. We can add to this the daylight sighting of a very strange artifact over Coronel Vidal at noon on Friday, November 16, and two reports of "transparent" triangular craft at Ramos Mejía and City Bell on previous evenings.

The Lobos Case

The sighting that took place on Monday, November 19 was around 02:00 at the Lobos Lagoon, some 2 km distant. A circular, luminous object, flying from north to south, flew slowly over the trees until it vanished. It looked yellow in plain sight and no particular sound was heard. From where we stood it looked rather low, on the horizon, slightly above the treetops. There are no airports nearby. We could record it with the cellphone and take a photo with a 10 second exposure (Info courtesy of Marina Rabino and Maury González).

The Dolores Case

At 03:30 hours on Monday, November 19, during the course of a nocturnal skywatch, I was able to see to my astonishment five objects forming a perfect triangle, flying in a Southeast-Northeast heading. I tried to record them with my cellphone but was unable to do so. A few minutes later, I saw a similar object but this time with three lights, also forming a precise triangle, but flying in a direction opposite to the first. I continued looking at the sky and was able to see an object with highly distinctive characteristics flying from South to North. It was clearly visible on account of its low altitude, spherical shape, and it seemed to rotate to me while it changed color form blinding white to amber yellow, blue and red. I reported this to the group on WhatsApp to see if you could see it in the La Plata or Punta Indio region, as this was the trajectory it was following. (Info courtesy of Julio Gómez).

The Great UFO Wave of 1973 Brought an 'Autumn of Aliens' to Middle Tennessee

The Great UFO Wave of 1973

Forty years ago, America seemed on the edge of disaster. The country's involvement in the Vietnam War drew to a close without even an illusion of victory. The vice president resigned in disgrace. The president was embroiled in a scandal that seemed almost certain to end with charges of impeachment. A war was raging in the Middle East between Israel and Egypt. Arab oil-producing countries announced an embargo against the United States for its support of Israel, and gas prices soared. Misunderstandings between the U.S. and the Soviet Union regarding the war pushed the two countries to the brink of nuclear confrontation, with the U.S. military on DEFCON 3 alert for first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis.

And amidst all this chaos, aliens descended on Dixie.

The fall of 1973 brought one of the largest waves of UFO sightings in U.S. history. Hundreds of reports poured in to news outlets across the country, with the greatest concentration in the Southeast. And Tennessee was no exception. Newspaper accounts chronicle unknown objects in the night skies and even a few reports of "high strangeness" on the ground. September and October became an "Autumn of Aliens" as adults shook their heads in disbelief and kids gobbled up the news with a mixture of excitement, wonder and fear.

In Nashville, the encounters began on Sept. 3, 1973: The Tennessean reported a sighting by a South Nashville homemaker and her three children, who described a distant light that changed colors, then a red triangular object with three white lights moving rapidly across the sky. Metro police investigated but proclaimed the lights to be out of their jurisdiction.

Perhaps because of MNPD's declaration, reports in Nashville didn't attract much attention for the next few weeks. But West Tennessee law enforcement apparently didn't get the memo. On Sept. 25, The Tennessean reported that Shelby County deputies in Memphis spotted a whirring, hovering craft sweeping the ground with two white spotlights. Later in the week, similar objects were reported by sheriffs in Lauderdale and Obion counties. Judging by news reports, the UFOs seemed to be edging closer to Middle Tennessee, making their first landfall in Giles County on Oct. 1. The Pulaski Citizen reported that three teenage boys witnessed the landing of an egg-shaped craft near the Anthony Hill community and a large, hairy, stiffly walking occupant. . . .

Analyzing the August 2011 UFO Wave

Several media outlets covered the story of increased UFO sightings in the late summer of 2011, including Fox News, MSNBC and the popular UK paper, the Daily Mail. It all started when the International Director for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), Clifford Clift, told reporter Benjamin Radford, that over 1000 UFO reports were received in August 2011, doubling the typical 500 or so they receive on a monthly basis. I have collected all of the data I could to take a closer look at this UFO wave to try and determine what might have been the cause.

In the story, Radford and Clift, tried to speculate on some of the reasons reports may have increased. Some of the ideas listed were: more people looking up in the summer, accidental duplication of data or that perhaps the increase in UFO movies this summer has made people more interested in the subject. The data I collected can dispel a few of these otherwise plausible theories.

Some of the stories stemming from Radford’s interview with Clift implied that UFO sightings have increased recently. Some of these headlines even pondered the possibility of an impending alien invasion. Most of these headlines were tongue in cheek jocularity, although some were dead serious. In order to test this I graphed out the number of sightings that MUFON has received over the past few years. I was a MUFON investigator for many years, and a functional Director, and have been accumulating data for a long time from the MUFON’s online database (nothing that isn’t publicly available mind you). MUFON began collecting UFO sightings through the database in mid-2006. There has also been an ongoing effort to scan all old paper reports and get them into the database as well.

However, this data was still not in a form that could be easily exported into a spreadsheet, so I painstakingly ported the information out. Anyone can go query the database, and when you see the results, although great for light perusal, you can see it would be a bear to format it into something you can graph out. It has taken me years to get dates and places. Some of the data also comes from MUFON emails, when you subscribe to the MUFON email list, Clifford conveniently emails monthly statistics. I also put those in the database to get some information regarding sightings this year. . . .
