Noted Skeptic, Robert Sheaffer Gets Face-Time with Roswell Alien Slides Documentary Film-Maker, Adam Dew

A Skeptic at the UFO Congress, 2015 - Part 3 (final)

By Robert Sheaffer
badufos.blogspot.com
2-25-15

Editor's note: Noted skeptic, Robert Sheaffer made the trip to The UFO Congress last week and posted his experience to his blog (while there), which in large part were the talks he attended by various UFO personalities–this included Mexican UFO journalist, Jaime Maussan. Towards the end of his talk, Maussan introduced Adam Dew, who (as our regular readers are aware) is one of the parties involved in the upcoming show, hosted by Maussan to reveal the so-called Roswell Alien Slides. In the aftermath, Sheaffer was able to get some face-time with Dew. With Robert's permission, we present that dialogue here:

Afterward, a number of people sought out Maussan, but nobody was talking to Dew. I introduced myself to him, and began asking him questions.

Sheaffer: How did you first obtain the slides?

Dew: The slides were found by the sister of my friend as she was cleaning out a house to be demolished in Sedona, AZ. They said, Adam is a video expert, let's give the slides to him.

Sheaffer: Who is the owner of the slides?

Dew: My company is the "owner" of the slides, it controls the slides.

Sheaffer: How did Schmitt and Carey get involved?

Dew: I've spent two years researching and investigating the slides. I wanted to speak to people who have seen the bodies.

Sheaffer: Did Schmitt & Carey claim to see bodies?

Dew: No, but they are the professionals. They spoke with credible people who did.

[I explained that Karl Pflock (certainly no UFO debunker) showed that all of the supposed "witnesses" who claimed to have seen alien bodies in Roswell have been discredited ("only four persons claiming firsthand knowledge of alien bodies have been interviewed by Roswell authors and identified publicly... there can be no reasonable doubt that none of the purported firsthand witnesses to alien bodies and a lonesome survivor is credible. Not one." Pflock, Roswell - Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe, p. 118, 120.). I should also have mentioned Schmitt's well-known loose relationship with the truth. (Neither Schmitt or Carey was at the Congress this year. I spoke with Schmitt when he was there last year, but nothing was said about the Roswell Slides.)]

Sheaffer: How did Maussan get involved?

Dew: Schmitt and Carey brought him in. Maussan offered a nice package.

[I explained how the fact of Maussan's involvement made many knowledgeable people in the UFO field immediately suspect a hoax, given his reputation for promoting many UFO hoaxes in the past. I had the impression that Dew, clearly a newcomer to UFOlogy, was not familiar with Maussan's oeuvre, or his reputation as a purveyor of rubbish. I suspect that Dew did not realize how much trouble bringing in Maussan would cause. He felt that some people were being very unfair and making unfair accusations about the slides, that they have not even seen. I referred to Maussan's just-concluded talk, invisible beings and such, as illustrating my point. ]

Dew: "Was all of it fake?"

Sheaffer: "Yes"

Dew: "How can you prove that?"

[I explained that the burden of proof is on Maussan to show that his wild claims are valid, not on me to disprove them. Dew agreed.]

Dew: I'm interested to bring this thing to the public, to people who don't know Maussan. I just did an interview about this in Chicago, on WGN.

A few minutes later, Dew came up to me and asked if he could interview me about the slides! I agreed, and signed his standard release form.

We talked about the controversy over the slides.

I explained how Maussan's involvement made people extremely suspicious of the slides.

He said to me, You realize, I hope, that nobody gets rich making documentary films? Look at my crew, he said, pointing to himself and his camera. I replied, yes, I have heard that before (I was thinking of similar comments made by Paul Kimball, when he took on the late Roger Leir.). But in a few cases, I explained, large sums of money have been made, the most obvious example being Ray Santilli's Alien Autopsy hoax twenty years ago. Dew was indeed familiar with this.

When the Alien Autopsy video was shown on TV, it got tremendously high ratings and made a lot of money, even though most serious persons realized it was probably a hoax. But that couldn't be proven yet. By the time that the hoax was exposed, Santilli had already made a great deal of money on it, and I said that many people think that you, Mr. Dew, will travel that same path. So I ended up comparing him to Ray Santilli, by which he seemed slightly taken aback, but I think he saw the reasoning behind that and took it humorously and without offense.

I closed repeating the observation that "extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof," and that two photos of unknown origin, no matter what they seem to show, cannot possibly suffice to prove the reality of crashed saucer aliens. He seemed to agree with my point.

So if someday you see my face in one of Dew's videos about the Roswell Slides, don't be surprised!

I asked Dew did he live in Chicago? He said yes, that's where I'm "based." I don't want to talk about where I live. He also told me, No matter what you hear on the internet, I really am a graduate of Northwestern University, in Journalism. I told him that I am a Northwestern graduate, too.

Based on our conversation, here is what I understand the history (and planned future) of the "Roswell Slides" to be:

• Through a social connection, Dew obtains a collection of historical slides. He discovers that two of them seem to show what looks like a supposed alien body.

• Seeking out 'Roswell experts,' Dew (not surprisingly) happens upon Schmitt and Carey. He contacts them and shows them the slides. They share it with members of their "Roswell dream team."

• After convincing themselves that the slides seem authentic, Schmitt and Carey contact Maussan to arrange a profitable "unveiling" of the slides.

• Maussan presents an attractive offer which Dew accepts. The slides will be revealed to the world in Mexico City on Cinco de Mayo, 2015, which is also the twentieth anniversary of the premiere screening of Ray Santilli's Alien Autopsy video before an invited audience at the Museum of London.

• Afterward, assuming that the slides are authenticated, Maussan told an Italian journalist that John Rao, the wealthy businessman who operates Open Minds (the promoters of the International UFO Congress), has expressed an interest in buying them. Assuming that takes place, next year's UFO Congress (already scheduled to take place in the same location) will presumably have the Roswell Slides displayed in a glass case.

Roswell Alien Slides: "It's Not a Scam," says Jaime Maussan | INTERVIEW

By www.altrogiornale.org
2-23-15

- rough translation -

The history of modern UFOlogy could be at a turning point. The next May 5 in Mexico City, during a meeting in the Auditorium National, the journalist journalist and Mexican ufologist Jaime Maussan will present slides showing the body of an extraterrestrial being supposedly recovered following the Roswell UFO, which took place in July 1947. . . .

I reached via Skype Jaime Maussan, who has kindly granted me an interview, a few hours before his departure for Phoenix . . ..

Maurizio Baiata: Hola Jaime! Thanks to this Skype connection. I follow the unraveling of the case "Roswell Kodachrome Slides" from the beginning, a couple of years ago, but now we have the certainty and your ad twice before Tom Carey and then your, increases the expectation of May 5, when Mexico City you present your slides. I ask you a question bluntly: that circulating on Facebook is one of the slides in question?

Jaime Maussan: Yes, but it is a poor quality copy of the original, which is rather sharp and you can notice many details.

Maurizio Baiata: I expected the answer, because we know each other well and frankly I could never believe you, Tom Carey and Don Schmitt could have stumbled on an obvious fake, or you were making accomplices of a scam by imbeciles.

Jaime Maussan: It is not a scam. . . .

Maussan Explains Origin of Roswell Alien Slides & Upcoming Show | VIDEO

By Jaime Maussan

Mexico was selected to present the evidence that a craft from another world fell in Roswell New Mexico on May 5, 2015 before 10,000 people the evidence that has awaited nearly 60 years to be brought to light shall be made public, resulting from secret research that has taken place over the past 5 years.

In 1998, at a house that was going to be demolished in Sedona Arizona, a box of slides was found showing celebrities such as Bing Crosby Clark Gable and even Dwight D. Eisenhower before he was president.

The slides were stored for another ten years. The box, affected by moisture, crumbled to bits. It was there, unexpectedly, that two images showing creatures of non-human appearance were found. Literally, extraterrestrials the photographs were analyzed by experts who were able to tell they'd been taken between 1947 and 1949 due to the characteristic wrapping of Kodak slides used at the time.

It was believed that the images could correspond to extraterrestrial bodies found at Roswell, according to statements made by dozens of witnesses who claim seeing such beings. These images were later presented to a witness who saw the alien corpses directly, confirming that the images show the beings recovered at Roswell.

In 1947, the USAF announced the recovery of an alien craft at Roswell. Hours later it changed the story, saying the remains were those of a weather balloon. Researchers and authors of such books as Witness to Roswell - Don Schmitt and Tom Carey - have interviewed over 600 indirect and 150 direct witnesses and are convinced that a non-human craft fell to earth at Roswell.

The bodies were taken to various military bases along with parts of the craft, where they possibly remain to this day, despite statements by retired military, including deathbed confessions; no definitive proof had been secured to show it was all true.

The slides with alien images will be presented in Mexico on May 5 at the National Auditorium in a major worldwide exclusive. This evidence may prove that the events were indeed real. Don Schmitt and Tom Carey, the foremost researchers of the Roswell case, believe the images correspond to the events.

Edgar Mitchell will also be present at the National Auditorium event; he was the sixth man to walk on the Moon, and who by chance lived in Roswell at the time of the events. Mitchell is also convinced that the U.S. government has covered up this information and has conducted his own investigation of the facts, and will make it known at this major event.

Also present will be Adam Dew, journalist who has recently investigated the images, concluding that these match the era of the photos. Dew not only researched the images, but also those who claim having been in contact with the bodies.

3D and holographic tech will be used at the National Auditorium event to give greater contrast to the images - this technology has never been used before at a similar event. In other words, the beings will be brought to life to see them not only as they really were, but also to see them in motion.

An event of unique characteristics that will mark a before and after period in ET research. A tribute will be held for Edgar Mitchell, considered by many to be the foremost Apollo astronaut to walk on the Moon, and for all of the achievements reached as from that moment.

Roswell Alien Slides To Be Unveiled in May Via a Live Streamed Event

The Public Reveal of The Roswell Alien Slides

By Anthony Bragalia
The UFO Chronicles
2-1-15

What some say represents stunning visual evidence of a humanoid creature that was found crashed near Roswell, NM in 1947 will soon to be released in an international livestream event. Referred to by some as “the Roswell Slides,” the Kodachrome images have now been authenticated by expert scientists and their provenance has been confirmed. During that long process many have speculated about precisely what these pictures show. People will now be able to see for themselves with the public reveal of the slides on May 5th 2015.

National Auditorium, Mexico City

The event will include presenters Dr. Edgar Mitchell, the sixth man on the Moon, as well as noted authors and Roswell investigators Tom Carey and Don Schmitt. Transmitted live from the 10,000 seat National Auditorium in Mexico City, the history and background context of the slides (as well as other facets of the case) will be detailed. Tom Carey, who made international news when he announced the discovery of the slides at American University in Washington, DC last month, will be providing more information and logistical details on the event shortly.

A Short Slides Redux

Some years ago, while an attic was being cleaned out, a chest was found containing many Kodachrome slides. Two Kodachrome slides were later found to have been separately hidden in an envelope within the inner lining of the chest’s lid. The chest and its contents were traced and found to have belonged to an intriguing, childless couple that are now deceased.

This author made the discovery that the husband, Bernerd A. Ray, was an Oil Exploration Geologist working the fields in New Mexico and the Permian Basin (which includes the Roswell region) in the 1940s for a company that would later become part of Texaco. In 1947 he was the President of the Texas chapter of the American Institute of Petroleum Geologists, which also at that time ‘folded in’ the State of New Mexico. After 1947, Bernerd became a ‘ghost’ in his profession and did not publish nor appear to be active with the Institute ever again.

Hilda Ray, Esq.

Hilda Blair Ray

Bernerd’s wife was Hilda Blair Ray. Researchers Tom Carey and Don Schmitt and the current owner of the film learned that Hilda was a highly respected lawyer with a high-end clientele and possible intelligence connections. A private pilot, she maintained favorable relations with well-placed individuals in both the public and private sectors during the 1940s. The other slides in the chest (over 100) are often found depicting accomplished people, including Dwight Eisenhower. This is a couple who were of the highest integrity. And both had contacts and activities that could have fortuitously enabled them to obtain these slides. And neither would have been the type to hide away hoaxed images as part of some sick prank, only to have those images found decades later by happenstance. This busy professional couple was also philanthropic with no propensity to prank.

Why The Slides are Genuine

Professionals from a range of disciplines who have seen the slides agree that they depict a small humanoid creature –a formerly living thing- that is not a prop nor a genetically defective human. And importantly, the being that is shown in the slides does not correlate whatsoever to the depictions of aliens extant in the popular culture of the 1940s (such as those that appeared in pulp magazines like Amazing Stories or movies like Buck Rogers) What the slides depict were not even part of the public psyche of that time. This is not how people envisioned things from outer space to look like back then. Instead, these 1947 slides reveal a being that looks like the beings found in the desert in 1947 as described by the witnesses to Roswell.

I was asked by Tom Carey to find the best available talent to test and analyze these Kodak slides. An extensive search was conducted and I found that talent. A Photo Scientist employed by Kodak for decades who will be named at the event, this expert has led engineering, production and product management groups at the company’s Rochester, NY headquarters. Now a consultant, he also published the definitive book on Kodak film processes. Highly acknowledged in his field, he conducted extensive testing on the slides and conclusively authenticated the slides of the creature as having been exposed in the year 1947. It was also concluded that the slides had not been tampered with nor manipulated in any way. What is depicted is really there, accurately reflected in the emulsion as an actual moment in time in 1947. Science has weighed in and has determined that these are real slides that are really from 1947.

And Law would agree with Science in this case. In the eyes of the courts, the slides serve as two types of legally admissible evidence. Circumstantial Evidence represents informed and reasonable inferences that can be made about a case given the specific circumstances and history surrounding it. The circumstances and history surrounding the Rays is very telling- from who they were and what they did, to where they were and who they knew. Documentary Evidence is a legal term that relates to evidence that accurately reflects a moment in time. This includes video, sound recordings, x-rays, photographs and slides.

The Only Conclusion

This humanoid is not a deformed person, mummy, dummy, simian or dead serviceman. It is not a creature that finds its origin on Earth. And given that the slides of this creature were taken the very same year as the Roswell UFO crash; that the appearance of the creature matches the reported appearance of the Roswell crash aliens; and given that the person who was in original possession of the slides was a geologist working the New Mexico desert throughout the 1940’s, it is not a jump or stretch to then conclude that these slides indeed show the corpse of one of the creatures found fallen at Roswell.
