The Roswell Alien Slides and The Truth

     The announcement that slides dating from 1947 found to have belonged to lawyer Hilda Ray and her husband Bernerd Ray (a top oil exploration geologist working in NM and TX during that time) have caused what can only be described as an internet sensation. Awareness of the slides existence was heightened very recently by the fact that individuals have taken a “screen grab” of one of the slides that appeared in a documentary preview by one Adam Dew, entitled “Kodachrome,” and attempted to enlarge and enhance it.

Since then, opinions have been proffered and amateur “analysis” has been conducted. Verdicts on just what the slides show have been rendered, often with impassioned, mean-spirited response and heated accusations. Inflammatory remarks, name-calling and near-libelous allegations have been made by people who have not been privy to a clear version of the slide nor seen the other existing slide at all- and without the benefit of review of the professional, scientific study that has been conducted on the them. And this negative, knee-jerk reaction to the slides existence began far earlier, even before the release of any image at all!

The truth of the matter could not be more different from what the noisy naysayers maintain . . ..

What Are They Looking At?

If, as the saying goes, a picture is worth 1000 words, this attempted enhancement gives only 250 of them. The fact is this: this is a video screen grab from a computer monitor –it is a picture of a picture of a picture- which has been taken at a distance of a slide in its frame. It is not a photographic print made from the slide, nor does it show the slide’s projected image on a screen.

Importantly, this poor-quality image is not even in color as are the original Kodachromes (a sepia-tone was applied to the image in the video.) The size and perspective of the being –and its texture and shape- is hugely distorted and important key details are unable to be seen.

A reproduction of an image can only be as good as its source material – and that source material was intentionally modified in the preview video. Bear in mind too that this is only one of the two slides that exists. This slide is the least interesting of the two. The other slide provides greater clarity and with far more detail revealed.

None of the photo-scientists who analyzed the slides were working with such degraded material like a video screen grab- they were working with the ‘raw’ original slides and with high-definition enlargements of them. This is not so of the many who give ill-informed opinions about them.

Finally, the image on the video was only offered as to give an idea or preview of the ‘real deal.’ It was not intended by any means whatsoever to be used to technically dissect the image or to offer the ‘full view’ of what the slides actually show. It is difficult to understand what some people do not understand about that.

From Hoax To Hydrocephalic-

Desperate Attempts for An Explanation

There have been cries from some quarters that the slides are not authentic, or depict a mummy or even a hydrocephalic deformity. And these cries are as loud as they are incorrect.

To address the question of dating of the slides and the possibility of photographic deception, here is a summation of analysis done by experts from industry and academia:

• The film is manufacture coded (edge code dated) as 1927 or 1947 or 1967

• The protective lacquer used on the film is from the 1930s to 1960, eliminating the year 1927

• The cardboard sleeve used is 1941-1949, eliminating the year 1967 and leaving 1949 as the latest date the film was exposed

By simple process of elimination using these findings, we are left with the year 1947. Allegations that somehow the owner of the film was able to locate, purchase and take undeveloped, pristine and preserved Kodachrome filmstock from the specific year 1947 and find a way to take a picture with it and have it successfully developed using the old stock is ludicrous. I challenge anyone anywhere at any time to today find such 1947 cardboard slide sleeves and unused 1947 Kodachrome film, find an appropriate camera, take a picture of what is shown, and then have it processed.

If the being depicted in the slide was made in 1947 was a model or dummy, it in no way correlates to the 1940s concept of what ‘Martians’ look like and everything like what witnesses to the bodies at Roswell reported. Too, the slides were found hidden amongst well over 100 other slides taken by the Rays in the 1940s, so everything must be viewed within this context.

To address the question of whether or not the being depicted is that of a mummy or of a hydrocephalic:

• Hydrocephaly is a condition whereby there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles of the brain causing bulbous enlargement of the skull. The treatment is to use a cerebral shunt to regulate amount, flow direction and pressure of the fluid. However, there are two things that must be understood. According to the journal Annual Review of Hydrocephalus, the long-term survival of hydrocephalics before 1960 (the year shunts were introduced as a treatment) was exceedingly low. Dr. Spyros Sgourus says that there was “high morbidity and mortality associated with treatment of hydrocephalus in the 1930s and 1940s.” According to the Review, in the 1940s, before shunting was established, infants with hydrocephalus had a very poor prognosis for survival. The fact is that the being pictured in the slides is between 3.5-4.0 feet tall and because of this is not a hydrocephalic infant. The skirted female legs (stocky like Hilda Ray) shown in the slide give us a very good sense of the length of the being she is looking at.

• Clear versions of the slides depict a being whose anatomy does not correspond to a human being. The limbs (legs and arms) are exceeding thin, frail and fragile, characteristics that are not associated with hydrocephalus. In fact, the torso (which has been opened) and rest of the body look nothing like any known case of hydrocephalus in history. The skull too, is enlarged but not ‘bulbous’ which is characteristic of non-shunted hydrocephalics.

• The being’s head is severed from the body (not evident in the screen grab) and one eye is missing. The chest and the abdominal cavity are missing. Hydrocephalic corpses are kept intact in medical study and display.

• The being has no teeth and has wide-set eyes. Lack of teeth and wide set eyes are not known to be conditions associated with hydrocephaly.

• In the actual slides it is evident that the being has only four fingers. To my knowledge, mummies and hydrocephalics are not typically missing a fifth digit.

• A detail not known or revealed to anyone but those who have seen the slides is that close-ups of the being’s face show a very ‘pointed’ chin, a chin that in no way resembles a human, mummified or hydrocephalic. In fact, the facial features do not in any way match that of other known hydrocephalics or mummies.

• One commenter (Gilles Fernandes) has shown a side-by-side comparison of the video grabbed slide and an infant mummy. He circles the feet of both, making a comparison and implying that they are one and the same. However, the image Mr. Fernandes offers is that of a specimen who is far, far shorter than 3.5-4.0 tall. And what is depicted in the slide is not a foot at all, but something else, perhaps a piece of debris lying on the surface. The being’s feet actually end behind the placard. In the actual slide there is even another similar, smaller such item which can be seen.

• This ‘placard’ is not very evident in the video grab image. However, it has been enlarged by experts and the writing, in red ink, is handwritten, not typed, as would be found in a biological display in a museum.

• Most importantly, the placard, as well as the support structure that the being rests upon, are clearly ‘temporary.’ The structure looks very make-shift, resembling a quickly-assembled ‘erector set’ type deal, with beams that have ratchet holes in them. The set-up in no way whatsoever resembles that of a professional museum display. It is not a well-crafted, pristine glass museum display box, but something not meant to be at all permanent. There is also a military-green blanket upon which the being rests, atypical of any such museum display of other biological specimens.

• Mummies are desiccated. This being was obviously either recently alive before the fatal pictures were taken, or had been embalmed.

• The Rays hid these two slides away and separate from the other slides found in a chest and were only discovered by the owners much later, as if to indicate that these two slides held special importance and meaning.

A Circus- But Who Are The Real Ringmasters?

Some rabid skeptics have disparagingly termed the whole slide affair as ‘a circus.’ If it has in some way become one, it is not at all due to the actions of those who seek to study and present the slides. In fact it is outsiders who have tried to insert themselves into the saga who are the real ringmasters.

It began with a ‘leak’ of the story nearly three years ago. An anonymous individual apparently contacted researcher Nick Redfern and divulged what he knew. Nick then –understandably- began contacting researchers to gain more information. When word of the slides existence became public, very sick behavior ensued:

• This author had his computer system hacked in an attempt to gain more information about the slides, or perhaps to obtain the slides themselves.

• Other researchers including Nick Redfern and Tom Carey (who had his stored documents ‘crypto-locked’ with malware) were also hacked.

• Information and names obtained from my stolen emails on the slides investigation was made public on a website (before being deleted.)

• Some people began contacting -or threatened to contact- involved photo scientists and witnesses (including a 90 year old man) in an effort to either gain more information or to derail the investigation.

• Money was stolen from my credit card account in a ‘skimming’ scheme resulting from the hack of my computer system. Bank investigators are currently engaged in resolving this.

• Accusations of hoax were made even before any release of any type of the slides. I was directly accused of being ‘a liar’ and other defamatory and legally-actionable comments were made against me and my reputation.

• Phone calls were placed to me in the wee hours by blocked callers who threatened me with ‘exposure’ as a fraud and my family members have even been harassed.

• Some have recently blogged accusing investigators of “pretending” to be hacked to build publicity and mystery. Falsely reporting that a crime has been committed (charges have been filed with the FBI) is a federal offense.

Making Money On The Slides

Some have said that the whole thing has been done to make money. But what has really motivated the slides investigation is a sense of obligation to truth and to history. What these skeptics fail utterly to understand is the great expense –both personal and monetary- that this slide investigation has cost. Who do they think paid for the expert analysis of the slides? Who do they think paid for repeated visits to places like New Mexico, Texas and Rochester? Who paid for the hotels, car rentals, meals out? On whose dime and on whose time do they think all this investigation was done? This has all been self-funded by the owner and the investigators. And every moment that has been taken investigating the slides is a moment that has been taken away from making a living or time with family. Frankly the gall that some have to suggest that this should all be unpaid effort is beyond belief. And despite attempts at gaining mainstream media interest, none was obtained. A public venue was chosen and a live broadcast planned (on May 5th) that has to be paid for by someone, and a self-funded documentary such as Mr. Dew’s was produced. Skeptics should thank those involved, not condemn them. And as the discoverer of the slides, why shouldn’t the owner enjoy recompense? I cannot understand why some insist this should be a volunteer effort and that everything should be done for free. That said, this author has neither received nor sought any compensation- but I do not in any way at all find any fault for those that do.

What the Slides Say about Us

Perhaps as interesting as the remarkable story of the slides themselves is the remarkable story of how people have dealt with such news. Jealousy, a sense of exclusion, and an inability to accept the possibility of what the slides do represent have all been in evidence during the slides saga. The compulsion by some to insert themselves into the story and to offer their judgment even before the slides and study are presented is worthy of a psychology study. Indeed, what the slides say about life beyond Earth is as telling as those who live upon it.

Roswell Alien Slides To Be Unveiled in May Via a Live Streamed Event

The Public Reveal of The Roswell Alien Slides

     What some say represents stunning visual evidence of a humanoid creature that was found crashed near Roswell, NM in 1947 will soon to be released in an international livestream event. Referred to by some as “the Roswell Slides,” the Kodachrome images have now been authenticated by expert scientists and their provenance has been confirmed. During that long process many have speculated about precisely what these pictures show. People will now be able to see for themselves with the public reveal of the slides on May 5th 2015.

National Auditorium, Mexico City

The event will include presenters Dr. Edgar Mitchell, the sixth man on the Moon, as well as noted authors and Roswell investigators Tom Carey and Don Schmitt. Transmitted live from the 10,000 seat National Auditorium in Mexico City, the history and background context of the slides (as well as other facets of the case) will be detailed. Tom Carey, who made international news when he announced the discovery of the slides at American University in Washington, DC last month, will be providing more information and logistical details on the event shortly.

A Short Slides Redux

Some years ago, while an attic was being cleaned out, a chest was found containing many Kodachrome slides. Two Kodachrome slides were later found to have been separately hidden in an envelope within the inner lining of the chest’s lid. The chest and its contents were traced and found to have belonged to an intriguing, childless couple that are now deceased.

This author made the discovery that the husband, Bernerd A. Ray, was an Oil Exploration Geologist working the fields in New Mexico and the Permian Basin (which includes the Roswell region) in the 1940s for a company that would later become part of Texaco. In 1947 he was the President of the Texas chapter of the American Institute of Petroleum Geologists, which also at that time ‘folded in’ the State of New Mexico. After 1947, Bernerd became a ‘ghost’ in his profession and did not publish nor appear to be active with the Institute ever again.

Bernerd’s wife was Hilda Blair Ray. Researchers Tom Carey and Don Schmitt and the current owner of the film learned that Hilda was a highly respected lawyer with a high-end clientele and possible intelligence connections. A private pilot, she maintained favorable relations with well-placed individuals in both the public and private sectors during the 1940s. The other slides in the chest (over 100) are often found depicting accomplished people, including Dwight Eisenhower. This is a couple who were of the highest integrity. And both had contacts and activities that could have fortuitously enabled them to obtain these slides. And neither would have been the type to hide away hoaxed images as part of some sick prank, only to have those images found decades later by happenstance. This busy professional couple was also philanthropic with no propensity to prank.

Why The Slides are Genuine

Professionals from a range of disciplines who have seen the slides agree that they depict a small humanoid creature –a formerly living thing- that is not a prop nor a genetically defective human. And importantly, the being that is shown in the slides does not correlate whatsoever to the depictions of aliens extant in the popular culture of the 1940s (such as those that appeared in pulp magazines like Amazing Stories or movies like Buck Rogers) What the slides depict were not even part of the public psyche of that time. This is not how people envisioned things from outer space to look like back then. Instead, these 1947 slides reveal a being that looks like the beings found in the desert in 1947 as described by the witnesses to Roswell.

I was asked by Tom Carey to find the best available talent to test and analyze these Kodak slides. An extensive search was conducted and I found that talent. A Photo Scientist employed by Kodak for decades who will be named at the event, this expert has led engineering, production and product management groups at the company’s Rochester, NY headquarters. Now a consultant, he also published the definitive book on Kodak film processes. Highly acknowledged in his field, he conducted extensive testing on the slides and conclusively authenticated the slides of the creature as having been exposed in the year 1947. It was also concluded that the slides had not been tampered with nor manipulated in any way. What is depicted is really there, accurately reflected in the emulsion as an actual moment in time in 1947. Science has weighed in and has determined that these are real slides that are really from 1947.

And Law would agree with Science in this case. In the eyes of the courts, the slides serve as two types of legally admissible evidence. Circumstantial Evidence represents informed and reasonable inferences that can be made about a case given the specific circumstances and history surrounding it. The circumstances and history surrounding the Rays is very telling- from who they were and what they did, to where they were and who they knew. Documentary Evidence is a legal term that relates to evidence that accurately reflects a moment in time. This includes video, sound recordings, x-rays, photographs and slides.

The Only Conclusion

This humanoid is not a deformed person, mummy, dummy, simian or dead serviceman. It is not a creature that finds its origin on Earth. And given that the slides of this creature were taken the very same year as the Roswell UFO crash; that the appearance of the creature matches the reported appearance of the Roswell crash aliens; and given that the person who was in original possession of the slides was a geologist working the New Mexico desert throughout the 1940’s, it is not a jump or stretch to then conclude that these slides indeed show the corpse of one of the creatures found fallen at Roswell.

Roswell’s Memory Metal: The Secret Experiments in Space

     Are highly classified experiments on “memory metal” that was inspired by the UFO crash debris found at Roswell being conducted in space? Is there an off-Earth effort to learn more about morphing materials? Could the advantages of such technology now be seen in space vehicles developed by the very Air Force base where the crash material was taken in 1947? Decades after the famous UFO crash, are they returning the material to whence in came –outer space- to learn more about it and to use it in our own spacecraft?

Investigation indicates that the answer to these questions is yes.

NASA has long conducted government, private and academic sponsored experiments that take advantage of the microgravity or reduced-gravity environments of outer space. Things behave differently in space and such basic research could yield untold technical advances in the future. Experiments are conducted on space shuttles, space stations, rockets, payload satellites and specially modified jets. They include experiments involving biology and biotechnology, physics and physical sciences. Through investigation into the possibility that “black experiments” have been conducted on Roswell-like material much is learned:

• A senior-level NASA scientist specializing in Morphing Metal studies admits that such Shape Memory Alloys (similar to those reported as UFO debris at Roswell in 1947) were probably taken into space for testing. This scientist also agreed that such tests could likely be classified secret.

• The very base where the memory metal from Roswell was flown (Wright Patterson) has developed and deployed space arrays and spacecraft control mechanisms that are based on Roswell-inspired “smart structure” materials technology.

• Although the crash material was composed of elements found on Earth, it was impossible to fabricate such material on Earth. In space, without the burden of gravity, metals with remarkable properties can be made.

• NASA’s history of lying about UFOs and space experiments that are deemed “sensitive” is documented here. It also explains why the answers to what tests they have conducted in space on memory metal may never be fully known.

“Memory Metal” or a moving metal is the shape of things to come. Material that remembers its original form (technically Shape Memory Alloy) was first reported by witnesses to debris from a crashed UFO near Roswell, NM in 1947. No one in the general public had ever before described such a thing. Shape-recovery metal like Nitinol is a distinctly post-Roswellian concept. Never before Roswell had anyone talked of material that instantly undergoes such a change in form and character. In prior articles this author has described how the crash material was flown to Wright Patterson/Field and how that base began to let contracts for memory metal research to organizations like Battelle Memorial Institute. The characteristics of this intermetallic material from space showed that it had to have been made in space. And only NASA could take the composite to the cosmos.

Why Take It To Space?

I do not believe the Roswell debris material itself was ever taken to space for experimentation, as this would present significant risk. But it is possible that alloys that represent our best efforts at replicating the material (i.e. Nitinol) may have been. The reasons why such materials would be taken up into the zero-g/ reduced gravity environment of space using NASA’s microgravity chambers are multiple. The “miscibility” (or ability for two different metals to “mix” to create an alloy) is likely greatly enhanced. There could be desirable changes in the microstructures of such “super-alloys made in space” that would yield greater material strength, hardness or purity. Such new fabrication-in-space possibilities could provide advances in “adaptive” materials that are “intelligent.”

A Clue From NASA's Manager for Morphing

Anna McGowan, NASA former Morphing Project Manager

Anna McGowan is the former Morphing Project Manager for NASA. She is a long-time NASA employee and aerospace scientist. A Purdue grad, she led two efforts in Morphing Projects for NASA Langley’s Aeronautics Research Directorate. She served as the NASA lead on the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Morphing Aircraft Systems Program which plans to test fly two advanced morphing concepts. She also led a visionary $35 million per year project that involved over 90 researchers in developing and assessing advanced technologies to enable efficient, multi-point, adaptability (morphing) in future flight vehicles. Reached by phone by this author on January 18, McGowan was asked:

AB: “Do know if Shape Memory Alloys such as Nitinol have ever been taken into space by NASA for testing in micro-gravity chambers?”

AM: “I would think so, yes. I can’t be certain though. Let me give you the name of a Langley media information officer that may be able to help.”

When McGowan was asked,

AB: “Do you think that any of the testing on morphing metals in space could or would be classified experiments?”

McGowan replied coyly:

AM: “Well, if we talk about it, it wouldn’t be classified would it?”

Although range of materials testing in space occurs on NASA vehicles, one would think that the person who led Morphing Projects for NASA would know if such space tests occurred on memory metal.

When I queried the Langley Information Officer Kathy Barstorff that McGowan had referred me to, I asked of her the same question I asked of McGowan:

“Do you think that any of the testing on morphing metals in space could or would be classified experiments?”

She replied precisely with the words that McGowan herself had used. The Langley media officer said,

“Well, if we talk about it, it wouldn’t be classified would it?”

I told her that what she said are the exact words used by McGowan to me when I asked her the same question. I said that this sounded like a rehearsed line that you had both been trained to say. She did not disagree.

Weeks-long inquiries have been made of NASA by this author on whether such memory metal tests were ever conducted. Despite contacting multiple branches of the agency and reaching out to those who should know, nobody from NASA has been able to definitively tell me. FOIA are now being filed by this author compelling an answer. But as detailed below, NASA is an agency that has deliberately lied and obfuscated when it comes to any probe of the agency’s involvement in certain sensitive subject areas.

An NSA Letter and Two Generals Speak of Roswell Metals ‘Special Processsing’

According to Greg Bishop, author of the book Project Beta, the National Security Agency confided by letter to the late Paul Bennewitz (a physicist, founder of a scientific instrumentation company and controversial UFO investigator) that early Space Shuttle experiments tested Titanium alloys in efforts to replicate the debris found at Roswell. {The Bennewitz story is long and complex, but it does appear that he happened on extremely sensitive aerial and atmospheric black budget R&D projects at Kirtland Air Force Base. His company is located at the border of the base. It also appears that both Air Force Intelligence and the NSA viewed this as a national security threat – and both agencies played “games” with Bennewitz, ultimately comprising his mental health.}

Bishop quotes from a letter to Bennewitz by his unnamed “NSA handler” dated December 11, 1985 about a Titanium super alloy and secret experiments on UFO debris in space on the Space Shuttle:

“The special alloy was forwarded to Wright Patterson AFB for analysis. With the then (1947) technology, the composition was known (an aluminum/Titanium composite of unknown fabrication techniques) but the method of achieving the alloy was a complete mystery. The advent of the electron microscope heralded a new wave of discovery. This alloy was porous and differed from any known metallic alloy to date. It was impossible to fabricate on Earth. But here it was. It was theorized that this new “super alloy” might be fabricated in a zero-g environment. With no gravitational influence, elements of grossly differing atomic masses might possibly be alloyed for the first time. Early Space Shuttle experiments proved this theory, and the resultant alloy was unbelievably tough and porous. Absorbing radar and other electronic emissions to an amazing degree.”

There is a theme of thought that the UFO debris was comprised of known metals or elements, but made by unknown fabrication methods or unusual processing.

The late General Arthur Exon, former Base Commander of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in the 1960s, confided on tape in the 1990s to researcher Kevin Randle information about the Roswell debris. He told Randle that he understood that some of the UFO debris was comprised “of Titanium and another metal that they knew about and the processing was somehow different.” Titanium is the key metal upon which shape memory alloys such as Nitinol are based.

Another General, George Schulgen (who led Air Force Intelligence at the time of the Roswell incident) authored a secret draft memo four months after the crash. In the section to his officers about UFOs entitled “Materials of Construction” Shulgen too notes such UFO material would be made by “unusual fabrication method.”

Is this “special materials fabrication” and “unusual processing” that the Roswell-involved General’s speak of one that is space-based?

Wright Patterson Takes the Memory Metal Back to Space

The Roswell crash material was shown by testimony and documentation (including an FBI memo) to have been transported to Wright Field. This author has demonstrated in a series of six prior articles that in the months following the crash, Wright contracted Battelle Memorial Institute to study memory metal and develop unique Titanium alloy phase diagrams (or “recipes” to make alloys.) For the next 20 years, Wright sponsored memory metal research with other organizations.

It has also been learned that Wright Patterson Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) has developed spacecraft components comprised of memory metal (Nitinol) and has launched these unique morphing systems into space. For decades Wright Patterson’s AFRL has been engaged in developing memory-metal based spacecraft systems. The very base that took in the memory metal from Roswell has used the technology to its advantage at least three demonstrable times with three little-discussed launched spacecraft:

• The MIghtSat /FalconSat is a small spacecraft satellite vehicle developed by AFRL to test advanced technologies in imaging, communications and spacecraft “bus components” in space. Launched in 2000 with a two year mission, a deep technical literature search reveals reference to the MightSat being released in space by memory metal. The device is referred to as the “AFRL Shape Memory Release Device” and its acronym is revealed as SMARD (or Shape Memory Alloy Release Device.)

•In July, 1997 Wright’s AFRL-developed Lightweight Flexible Solar Array (LFSA) was launched into space. Technical reference is found of a “Shape Memory Alloy Hinge” design and AFRL’s creation of the memory metal device in concert with NASA, DARPA and Lockheed Martin. It incorporated very thin pieces of Nitinol. These strips served as ultra-flexible devices on which the craft’s attached parts could turn, pivot, swing or interlock.

•A current Wright memory metal mission in space is the Rosetta Landing Craft. Wright’s research labs worked with the European Space Agency on a spacecraft whose mission is to be the first to orbit and land on a comet. The comet-chasing craft, it has been found cited in the literature, is equipped with a “Shape Memory Gas Release Mechanism,” a specialized memory metal valve.

NASA’s History of Lies About UFOs and Space Experiments

Two very disturbing documents have been uncovered by this author that confirm that the subject of UFO’s and secret experiments in space conducted by NASA were never to be discussed by its personnel.

Larry Ross, Former Director of NASA Lewis Research Center

In 1992, Howard Wolpe (D-Mich.) said congressional investigators looking at a program to develop the SP-100 nuclear space reactor, found a two-page set of instructions on how to deal with Freedom of Information Act requests. Volpe had somehow found a document about sensitive NASA experiments in space which likely explains why NASA is reluctant to answer me directly about memory metal testing on board their spacecraft. Prepared by Larry Ross, NASA’s former director of the agency’s Lewis Space Center, the document reads in part:

This NASA document instructs government employees to:

1. Rewrite and even destroy documents 'to minimize adverse impact.'

2. Mix up documents and camouflage handwriting so that the documents’ significance would be 'less meaningful.'

3. Take steps to 'enhance the utility' of various FOIA exemptions."

Wolpe wrote to NASA Administrator Richard H. Truly about his find. Truly would only indicate that he had “concerns” about this document.

Paul Hill, NASA Flight Director

Paul Hill was a NASA aerospace engineer and former Flight Director at the Johnson Space Center. In 1995 Hill, retired, wrote a little-discussed book entitled “Unconventional Flying Objects: A Scientific Analysis.” Hill indicated that he had conducted a series of “UFO maneuver simulations” while at the agency, including studies of the materials of construction, propulsion possibilities and navigational dynamics. In the book, Hill makes a very startling confession:

“I was prevented from making any pronouncements about the application of my UFO work by NASA officials. I had been instructed by superiors in official channels that my name could not be used in connection in any way that would implicate NASA with these objects.”

He continued,

“Clearly, I was destined to remain as unidentified as the flying objects.”

The Geller Information

Feel what one might about the reported psychic Uri Geller but one thing is historic truth:

In the early 1970s Geller was tested by the US government for his psychic abilities. In an email exchange with this author four years ago Geller indicated to me that he was made to try to “bend” the memory metal Nitinol (in the shape of a wire, placed in a vacuum) with the projection of psychic energy. Present at this experiment was Dr. Frederick Wang (the “co-inventor” of Nitinol) and scientists from NASA. Specifically, Geller told me, that it was NASA Goddard personnel in attendance. It turns out that Goddard operates a little-mentioned laboratory in Greenbelt, MD called the “Materials Engineering Branch.” This Goddard lab is linked to work in microgravity space experimentation and has developed advanced materials such as nano-tubes and high performance composites.

The Hidden Meaning of Morphing

Morphing metal is the key to the UFO mystery. Morphing metal may well be the stuff from which today's often-seen "morphing UFOs" are made. Such materials of construction may help to explain the "shape-shifting" craft. And it is likely that similar material accounts for some of the debris that was found at the crash at Roswell.

But there is an even deeper meaning to memory metal. It is found within the Morph. It represents "the potential for change." Such material reflects the value of adaptation. Without it, life ceases. The best material adapts itself to best suit its environment. The shape-memory qualities of the Roswell debris speak to the metal's "remembrance" of a malleable and ever-changing Universe.

General Nathan Twining

      Six weeks before he passed, the 4-star General who served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Eisenhower (and who was the Commander of the Air Materiel Command at Wright Field in July of 1947) confessed to his namesake son that the Roswell crash was an extraterrestrial event.

Even more astonishingly, he disclosed that one of the aliens had survived.

General Nathan Twining was a West Point grad who was born into a family that was long-associated with the military. As Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he had risen to become the highest ranking military officer in the U.S. Armed Forces and principal military advisor to a President. Before retiring with over four decades of service, he was eligible to wear over 30 military medals.

Twining, concerned about the increasing rise in UFO reports during the summer of 1947, had advised the initiation of a formal study of the mysterious phenomenon. Known as Project Sign, this early official UFO study was authorized in December of 1947 by General Laurence Craige (Chief of Air Force R&D and implicated as Roswell-involved by Craige’s pilot, Ben Games.)

At the time of the Roswell incident Twining was at Wright Field (where the crash debris was flown) as Commander of the Air Materiel Command (AMC.) The AMC was charged with research, development, acquisition and flight testing of novel, prototype or foreign aircraft and weapons.

Twining would certainly have been well-positioned to have known about what had really happened at Roswell at the time of the crash. He likely garnered further details when he was later rewarded for his work by being named by a President to lead our nation’s Armed Forces as Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In a formerly classified (and infamous) letter to Air Force General George Schulgen (known as the “Twining Memo”) Twining writes to the General that the flying disc phenomenon reported “is something real and not visionary or fictitious.” He went on to consider natural phenomenon and controlled, engineered objects as possibilities.

It now appears evident that Twining knew far more definitively what the phenomenon actually represented.

Buried at the Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, General Twining died in March of 1982 in Texas at the age of 84.

The General’s Son Reveals His Father’s Roswell Secret

Nathan Twining’s same-named son told investigators (including Tom Carey) that on UFOs, he had remembered that his father had mentioned to him that he was very concerned about the increasing number of pilots that were “lost” while scrambling for and chasing the illusive flying objects.

And a recent and very little-viewed video of testimony given by an unassuming Englishwoman suggests strongly that General Twining –and his son- knew far more about the true nature of Roswell crash than they had ever let on publicly.

In the video, released in September of this year by UK investigator Joanne Summerscales, a woman named Jo Walters (who is now is her 80s) relates that she had met Nathan Twining, Jr. during the 1997/1998 time frame. What he told her about his General father has left her startled to this day.

At the time, Jo was, along with two friends, considering retiring to the United States. She and her friends were members of a religion that was seeking to establish a community retreat there. It happened that one of her friends knew of Nathan Twining who was a member of the same faith in the US. She contacted him to let him know of their intentions- and to her delight he invited her, Jo Walters and another friend to spend some time at the guest quarters at his ranch. He would discuss placing a religious community on one of his expansive New Mexico land holdings. They accepted his invitation and arrived to a fine welcome.

Later in the visit, Nathan explained to Jo that he was the son of a military General. Given the ranch’s New Mexico location and his father’s time of service, the talk got around to the Roswell crash.

Nathan Jr. told Jo that his father and he had discussed the matter previously and that at the end of his life his father finally came forth on the true nature of the Roswell event.

Nathan said that his father believed that he was always ‘straight’ with his son and that he now wanted to set the record straight about the crash. General Twining was apparently sparing in what he told his son. But six weeks before he passed General Twining did confirm:

• The Roswell incident was in fact an event involving extraterrestrials

• A crew of beings had crashed in the desert

• One of these beings had survived, but later expired

• The General added that he had himself visited the being and had communicated with it telepathically while it was held at a secure government location in New Mexico.

Jo Walters’ Taped Testimony

Nathan Twining Jr. (now elderly, placed under guardianship and believed incapacitated) became recognized as very successful as both a real estate businessman in Baltimore and as a New Mexico land developer. And he was as generous as he was prosperous (donating, for instance, acres of land on which to site an observatory for the Albuquerque Astronomical Society.)

He is a man of inherited means with a reputation for genuineness. He had no reason to fabricate or to dishonor his father’s legacy with lies. And corroboration for Jo Walter’s claims about Twining comes from several, including these individuals:

• Respected veteran UFO researcher Ted Oliphant relates in a Facebook entry that he had also heard from Nathan Twining Jr. that his General dad saw the Roswell alien and that it had used telepathic means to communicate. Nathan Jr. added this important element: he was told by his father that the ET “wanted no contact with us.”

• Paranormal researcher Suzy Ward wrote in 2011 that about 20 years previous she had purchased some acreage from Nathan Jr. In conversations with him at that time (and perhaps because of her inclination to things universal and spiritual) she was related some amazing things about the crash. Like Jo Walters and Ted Oliphant, she was told of Nathan’ father’s story about a surviving crew member of a four-creature crew and about communication by telepathy with the living alien.

• Roswell investigator and author Tom Carey (when emailed the Jo Walters video by this author) confirmed to me that what Jo states matches up with what he knew to be true about Nathan Twining Jr. He has met Twining in the past and has been to his ranch estate. Carey said that what Walter’s details about Twining’s ranch, circumstance, demeanor and related fine points leads him to believe that she had indeed visited him in New Mexico.

The Highest Official Confirmation of ET Ever?

If what Nathan Jr. says about Nathan Sr. was true, it represents confirmation at the very highest levels of government -from one of the most decorated men in military history- that the Roswell incident was truly ET.

The Truth

     In the past few months rumors have swirled that members of the Roswell investigation team (this author included) had become aware of two photographic slides depicting an alien humanoid creature:

• This is true, and it is equally true that they may represent the first genuine physical evidence in support of the reality of a crash of a extraterrestrial beings near Roswell, NM over six decades ago.

• The stunning, historic photographs have been confirmed to have been imaged on two Kodachrome slides dating from the year 1947, the year of the UFO crash.

• There is no indication of retouching, digital enhancement or other photographic hoax technique.

• They are clear, in color, up close, and taken from two separate angles.

• These slides were found hidden in an attic in a chest having belonged to a deceased couple.

• This author made the incredible discovery that the husband was a very prominent petroleum geologist who conducted oil exploration expeditions in the 1940s in West TX and in New Mexico. This area also encompassed the Permian Basin, a region that includes Roswell, NM.

• Rather than depicting the popular culture image of aliens in the 1940s, they show the image of a small humanoid alien, like those aliens described by witnesses to Roswell.

• Other photos found in the chest (separate from the two humanoid slides) depict General Eisenhower in 1947 and with the couple at meetings and parties with what appear to be very well-placed people.

• There is much more of this tale to tell

What is Not True

• No crash debris or the craft itself are shown, this is pure fiction.

• No member of the team owns, manages or controls the evidence in any way, and therefore has not made any media inquiries as rumored and makes no decisions on what is done or not done with such evidence.

•We do not in any way represent or speak for the owner of the evidence. We were only assisting him.

Leaks and What went Wrong

There was most certainly a leak in the investigation. Some people became aware of some of the elements of the story…and what some did with this is truly shameful.

And others were reduced to name-calling in efforts to get us to talk. I even received strange phone calls in the middle of the night demanding disclosure! People actually tried to extort information on this. It is clear that there are many who were simply jealous of our efforts and dislike the idea of a team. They took a perverse pleasure in deliberately disrupting our continuing investigation. They do not see that they have caused tremendous harm to the pursuit of truth.

Why did they not wait until we had the time to understand more about the slide’s origin, provenance and chain-of-custody? And just why are we under any obligation to apprise strangers of things that we ourselves are still learning about?

Why was it so urgent for them to not first let us try to answer the many “who, what, where, whens , whys and hows” about these images that still remain before blabbering their mouths?

If we did not have these answers at the ready when the evidence was presented, we would be taken to task for not having those answers. We are damned if we do not pre-maturely release the information- and we would be damned if we did.

Why do some wish to bring down this aspect of the investigation and abort our sincere efforts? Are they so frustrated in not being able to see the images (some seem to being have mini-strokes and conniption fits because they have not) that they will do anything to make us release them? Do they seek fame at any cost? Do they not like us? Is it covetous behavior?

And when it was found out that Roswell researcher Kevin Randle still had concerns about the slides, the skeptics and mean-spirited wanted to drive a wedge further and deep within the team. Kevin is entitled to his opinion. We remain civil and he is entitled to his thoughts. On this matter I am convinced that once he became privy to the evidence in a more direct way, he would have changed his mind.

People do not understand that the ‘team’ can have disagreements and still cooperate. They also do not appreciate that it is self-funded, takes time away from making a living, and its members are physically separated by thousands of miles. To then be further encumbered by an early onslaught of negativity before we have even completed our work on this evidence is simply unfair.

What I will Not Answer

In order to salvage what little is left of privacy in this investigation (and to honor commitments to others) I will not answer questions relative to:

• The names of the involved geologist and his wife nor the owner of the slides; who authenticated them and how; when the chest was found and the name of who found it; and specifics on the humanoid’s appearance. Anyone who does release this sensitive information really does not care about history and truth, only themselves. They are not honorable and are fame seekers and worse.

• Who has seen the photos and when and where, how they are stored, etc.

• What stage we are at in the investigation; who was contacted during the investigation

• Speculation on the decision masking processes of the owner of the evidence

Why You Will Not See The Photos

The owner of the slides certainly sees from afar the puerile and unprofessional behavior of some people. And he sees judgment cast even before the evidence is shown. He is likely repulsed by such “UFO people” and has no desire to enter such a hellish lion’s den. And he will not use the underbelly of the internet to ever release something of such enormity and cosmic import.

CIA Claims 1947 Budget Records are ‘Missing’; Is Roswell The Reason?

      A noted activist against government secrecy has encountered a wall of silence in his FOIA requests to find out about the Central Intelligence Agency budget figures for 1947/8. The agency claims that they “are unable to locate” such fiscal records. Is the reason that they are “missing” because this was the very same time frame as that of the UFO crash near Roswell in July of 1947? There is now solid reason to support that there was a deliberate attempt at that time to hide operational expenditures that related to the crash. This included funds and allocation of capital resources for investigations, retrieval, transport, storage, security and study of the crash debris and bodies. Just as this author has found (as reported in books and in an online article series on the “memory metal” debris) that there exists a technical paper trail related to the crash- there must also be a fiscal paper trail. And in both cases it appears that there have been early and active efforts to make it difficult for anyone to follow these trails.

CIA says, "We Can't Find The Records"

Steve Aftergood is a published engineer and directs the Federation of American Scientists “Project on Government Secrecy.” He has spearheaded efforts at government records declassification and in reforming government secrecy and privacy policy for decades. He was instrumental in filing historic Freedom of Information Act lawsuits which led for the first time to the declassification and publication of total intelligence budgets under FOIA request. But when Aftergood filed FOIA requests with the CIA for its budget records for 1947/8, the agency’s initial reply is that his request was denied. The agency cited applicable FOIA exemptions to such requests, including national security related exemptions. Over several years in the 2000’s Aftergood filed several complaints and appeals to compel the CIA release of this fiscal year budget information. It had prior released other requested years and time spans, but strangely denied this specific request for the Roswell-year budget records.

Changing about face on what it had originally stated, the CIA finally wrote to Aftergood, “We are unable to locate a document containing, or a series of documents from which we may deduce, the US intelligence budget for Fiscal Year 1947.” They indicated that the same holds true for the year immediately after the crash, 1948. This was an active, post-Roswell year. This was the year that military were letting contracts to Battelle Memorial Institute to study Roswellian “memory metal” (see prior articles) and the year that likely other outside studies were begun that required fiscal expenditure.

A decade on from Aftergood’s last FOIA action on this, the CIA’s last response seems to be their final. And it appears that Aftergood has now exhausted all if his administrative remedies to gain access to the requested records. In dialog with this author, Aftergood himself indicates that he believes now that the reason for the missing budget information is due to “poor record management” and “over-classification.” But there are clues that can be culled from a careful review of the testimony made by those who were administrators at the Roswell base in 1947. And these clues –which have nothing to do with mismanagement- tell of a different reason, and they help us to understand just why these CIA fiscal records may really remain unavailable to the public.

Roswell Officers Muddied Financial Waters

According to three officers confirmed to have been at Roswell Army Air Field (RAAF) in July of 1947, they deliberately destroyed, omitted or otherwise ‘changed up’ expenditures, disbursements and other “paper trails” that related to the crash. And obviously this was done under orders.

Richard Clayton Harris was the Budget and Fiscal Officer at RAAF, including that 1947 summer of the crash. Many years later, before his death, Harris opened up that it was in fact a “spaceship” that had fallen to earth. He confessed that there were bodies temporarily stored in a hangar, and that Walter Haut, the officer who issued the press release on the crash event, knew the true nature of the craft, telling Harris in front of the hangar holding the crash debris, that it was extraterrestrial and that it was piloted.

In an interview some time ago with author and Roswell research team member Kevin Randle, Harris confirmed that the crash was of an alien vehicle. Harris’ daughter Ann states that her father had “allotted funds necessary for the cleanup and cover up. Dad allotted the funds to pay for housing and food for extra personnel, and for extra fuel for unscheduled flights out to Ft. Worth and to Wright.” No such expenditure records have ever been found- and were made not be by someone.

According to Ann, her father was found murdered in his home just six months after his appearance on TV with Kevin Randle. She states that in addition to Albuquerque Police there were CIA Agents investigating the incident as well.

Colonel Patrick Saunders was the Base Adjutant at RAAF in the summer of 1947. As administrative Adjutant, he must have known and worked with Richard Harris. Many years ago when reached by researchers, Saunders laughed of the crash incident, later telling them illusively, “I can’t specify anything.” After her father’s death, Saunder’s daughter wrote to Kevin Randle saying of her father that: “At one point he bragged to me about how well he covered up the paper trail associated with the clean-up.”

Claire Miller was stationed at the US Army Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) Washington, DC headquarters in July of 1947. CIC officer Sheridan Cavitt is confirmed to have made an investigation with Major Jesse Marcel from RAAF at the Foster ranch where the object had fallen. When Miller (who likely knew Cavitt) was reached by author Karl Pflock in 1980, Miller was evasive, chuckled and tried to change the topic away from Roswell. In a follow-up letter to Pflock the former CIC administrator curiously wrote , “I have no recollection relating to the Roswell/Corona crash case. I was stationed in Washington, DC at the time. I may have approved investigative expenditures relating to that case, but that was 46 years ago of water under the bridge and my mind is blank!” Blank indeed. In his reply Miller is tacitly admitting financial oversight involvement.

Hidden Paper Trails

Paper trails –written evidence- can prove very tricky maze to find and to navigate once found. It took years of circling back and making connections from various journals and contracts to discover that Battelle was retained by Wright Patterson to work on memory metal in the months following the Roswell crash. A similar financial forensic analysis may prove to be equally productive. Dealing with enormity of fallen ET craft and creatures costs money, it necessarily involves expenditure. Is it mere coincidence and mishandling that accounts for the CIA’s account of why they can’t come up with budget information for that critical period of time, but they can –and do- for other years? Given what the Roswell officers above have said, I think not. There has to be some indication somewhere of a “Roswell financial paper trail” of funding, expenses and disbursement associated with 66 years of keeping the alien secret.
