Bristol Harbour ‘Alien’ Revealed As Viral Stunt for New TV Show
A series of paranormal videos released on YouTube and alien events in Bristol this week, were revealed today to be part of an elaborate marketing stunt by UKTV’s entertainment channel, Watch.
The guerrilla campaign was created to launch 'The Happenings', an audacious new illusion series featuring master magicians ‘Barry and Stuart’, a new show from the producers of Derren Brown.
The various videos, which feature paranormal and strange occurrences, have accumulated over 1m views since they appeared on the popular online video sharing network over the last four months.
The latest instalment of the elaborate social media campaign saw the appearance of a giant, bioluminescent 'alien' creature in Bristol this week.
Bristolians took to social media to report a 15ft, squid-like E.T. pulsing beneath the water in the city's harbour.
Videos and images shot by stunned locals of the tentacled alien first appeared on Tuesday (Dec 3).
Within 24 hours, speculation about the creature's identity reached fever pitch on Twitter, Facebook and social forums. Over 3.5 Million Twitter impressions related to the sightings have been recorded in over the past three days.
The sightings drew debate among leading marine biologists. . . .

. . . A mysterious video has emerged on YouTube from Tuesday night which appears to show a glowing “alien-like creature” floating in the waters of Bristol Harbour.
The footage has been viewed thousands of times and caused a stir on Twitter and Facebook – and even the experts cannot agree on what it is that uploader John Tombe has captured on camera.
Andrew Spooner, an IT professional living in Bristol, witnessed the “creature” and tweeted a picture, describing it as “some weird craziness swimming around in #bristol harbour. Looks alien…”
The squid-like being flashed brightly in the darkness for around half a minute, witnesses said, before disappearing – and has left experts at odds over what could have happened.
Dr Steve Simpson, from the School of Biological Sciences at Bristol University, saw the footage and told the Bristol Post: “It's very intriguing - I don't really know what to make of it. . . .

Last night about 8:50 Feb 5, 2010 my neighbor says hey Xxx come check out this UFO. I get out of my car and with astonishment I witnessed an object that looked to have bright neon green and red lights do maneuvers no aircraft known to man do last night. It would hover for a few seconds and shoot straight up stop and go west with speeds I have never seen before.It returned and hovered for about 10-15 seconds and move straight up and moved moved slowly vertical. Several of my neighbors came outside and witnessed the same event. I saw several F-16's making loops in the vicinity. We witnessed this in the Chandler area over by Fry Rd and McQueen Rd.
I believe some of my neighbors might have some video and pics.Their were at least 12 who witnessed the object my block to testify this sighting. I didn't know who else to contact, I just found you on the web. If there is a forum to post this to please let me know.

Driving on the 10 freerway westbound approaching downtown LA on 2/3/10 at about 7:15 PM, I watched a flying object making a near vertical descent from about 800 feet high, before finally levelling out a bit and vanishing.[Unedited]

It looked far large for fireworks, and was a craft of some kind. No helicopter or small plane would survive this descent. The object - glowing red and green- seemed to be about small plane sized. This was near the 110 /10 intersection.
I watched it for a good 20 seconds before it either left my field of view or disappeared after suddenly glowing brightly.. I waited , expecting to hear an impact. Someone else must have seen it.
I drive that route once a week at that time, and have done so for three years; this was a startling thing to see, and I had time to study it.

Several years ago, around the year 2000 or 2001, I saw two UFOs in Fayetteville, North Carolina. They were visible for approximately 20 minutes. The first one I saw, I thought it was an airplane that had exploded in the air and was crashing because it looked like a glowing fireball. But then it flew back up in the sky, so I knew it wasn't something that was crashing. It began to fly around the sky in various different patterns at varying speeds...it could fly pretty much however it wanted to fly. Eventually, I saw a second one appear and it behaved just like the first one. I called a friend that lived nearby and told him to go out and look. He saw one of them too. I decided to drive over his house while keeping an eye on them, but on my way to his house, they eventually flew out of sight.[Unedited]

So here's a few other points of interest. Fort Bragg is nearby, but the UFOs mostly flew around in the opposite direction of the base. Me and my friend called a 911 operator to see if anyone had reported any strange lights in the sky, but she said no. She suggested that it might be paratroopers doing practice jumps at Fort Bragg....but this wouldn't have been what we saw. Paratroopers do practice jumps at Fort Bragg all the time...that is nothing unusual. These UFOs were also larger than a person, and paratroopers dont glow like orange fireballs. Paratroopers can't fly either....they fall. It was difficult to determine how far away the UFOs were, but at one point, one of them flew behind some clouds on the horizon...so they were apparently pretty far away. Visibly, they appeared to be about third or quarter the size of a full moon in sky. But since I don't know how far away they really were, it's hard to know how large the objects actually were. They just appeared to be big glowing fireballs flying around the sky.

UFOs Spotted by Navy Engineer Above the M5 Motorway

A Royal Navy aircraft engineer claims to have seen a "glowing" UFO hover over the M5 motorway.
He said the unidentified flying object flew for up to three minutes above junction 21 of the M5, near Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.
Mr Madden was on his way back from Manchester with colleague Michael Casson, 22, at 9.50pm on Sunday June 29 when he saw the suspected 'extra-terrestrial' craft.
He said: "I work with aircraft and grew up next to Manchester Airport so I know exactly what a plane looks and sounds like. This was definitely not a plane.
"It was a circular disc which was glowing bright, hovering hundreds of metres up.
"Other people must have spotted it. It was unlike anything I've ever seen in my life. It really did look like the alien aircraft in films. It had an antenna fixed to the back."
Mr Madden's claim follows a string of recent UFO "sightings".
On June 7 three soldiers said they saw 13 UFOs, which looked like "rotating cubes", while on night patrol at Tern Hill military barracks near Market Drayton, Shropshire. One, Corporal Mark Proctor, 38, of the 1st Battalion of the Irish Regiment, recorded the sighting on his mobile phone and reported it to Army officers.
That sighting came just two hours before helicopter police officers reported an encounter with a huge craft 80 miles away near Cardiff. They claimed to have given chase to the "flying saucer-shaped" object after it almost collided with their aircraft near the Ministry of Defence base of St Athan.
Then Father-of-two David Osborne, 47, videoed 12 orange objects in the night sky above Basingstoke, Hampshire, at 10.40pm on June 28.
The alleged UFOs moved across the sky, switching from a D formation, to a random pattern, to a line then a triangle before disappearing.
