Mike Fortson's life was changed forever on March 13th 1997, after witnessing an enormous V-shaped craft fly by his home in Chandler, Arizona. Thus began his trek into Ufology searching for the answers as to what he saw; consquently I've nick-named him "the reluctant Ufologist."

Mike Fortson was born February 24, 1953, in Hertfordshire, England; he was what is commonly called an "Air Force brat." His father was a staff sergeant in the USAF stationed in London. Mike spent the first 18 months of his life in the UK; subsequently, the family relocated to Georgia for the next 5 years.
In 1959 his family then moved to Kokomo, Indiana where he spent the following 16 years. Graduating High School in 1971, Mike's lottery number (methodology for the draft) was under 60, which precipitated his entrance into the military. Above average test scores enabled a four-year stint in the Navy.
During boot camp Mike was offered a position with the USN Ceremonial Guard in Washington, D.C., where he served with honor four a total of 4 years.
Along with presiding over military funerals, Mike attended State dinners at the White House and participated in full honor arrivals for foreign heads of state. Highlights included: Nixon’s inauguration, as well as funerals for President’s Johnson and Truman. All tolled, Mike participated in over 1500 military funerals at Arlington National Cemetery, and carried a "White House security clearance."
In June of 1972, Mike married his lovely wife Nan Ford, his high school sweetheart; they have been married for over 37 years. Mike is a very proud father of adult 3 sons, now aged 32, 33 and 35. That gratification is only surpassed by a bevy of handsome, healthy grandchildren.
In civilian life, Mike began a career in sales, working in everything from the auto industry to the oil business, eventually navigating to real estate out west in Arizona.
On Thursday March 13, 1997, while living in Chandler, Arizona, by chance, Mike Fortson would witness an event that would alter his life, and his perception of it—forever!
