The Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) Records Have Been Transferred

The National UFO Historical Records Center
The Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) was one of the oldest and largest civilian UFO research organizations in the world. The research files of this organization have been transferred to the National UFO Historical Records Center (NUFOHRC) in Rio Rancho, NM.

Dr. J. Allen Hynek, former Scientific Adviser to U.S. Air Force Project Blue Book, cited APRO and NICAP (National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena) the best civilian UFO groups of their time. Both of these collections of UFO archival records along with the files of the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) are now housed at the headquarters of NUFOHRC.

APRO was founded in 1952 by Jim and Coral Lorenzen, later based in Tucson, AZ. NICAP was started in 1957 in Washington D.C. by Major Donald Keyhoe. CUFOS was founded in 1973 by Dr. J. Allen Hynek in Chicago, IL. All of these records are in the process of being digitized for electronic storage, analyzation, transfer, and ease of access.

The collective files of APRO, NICAP, CUFOS, as well as Dr. J. Allen Hynek’s original U.S. Air Force Project Blue Book files, constitutes the largest civilian historical UFO case file collection in the United States, if not the world.

An appropriate site is being sought in the Albuquerque, NM area for a permanent facility to house this massive collection of UFO research data. The facility will allow for public access to the UFO data as well as viewing of historic photos and artifacts from the UFO research field. NUFOHRC plans to cooperate with civilian, scientific, and governmental UFO research efforts.

Never in U.S. history has such a vast quantity of UFO records (numbering in the tens of thousands) been centralized in one location.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, a tax-deductible donation may be made to NUFOHRC to fund a free-standing public archive building which will make these files and other historical materials more readily accessible for UFO researchers, academics, scientists, and U.S. government organizations. Donations can be made online or via mail.

EFR Announces Online UFO Archive

Expanding Frontiers Research
Expanding Frontiers Research (EFR) is set to launch an online archive about UFO reports and investigators. The Salt Lake City nonprofit organization will publish the archive
By EFR
9-14-2023
Thursday, Sep. 14, at its website, Expanding Frontiers Research dot org. Records spanning decades will be freely accessible to researchers and anyone interested in browsing and downloading the material. Historic documents and audio recordings reflecting events surrounding UFO investigations, correspondence between high-profile researchers, the intelligence community and much more will be featured.

EFR Executive Director Erica Lukes says the timing of publishing the archive couldn't be better, given all the recent interest in UFOs and what some are calling UAP. “With the UFO hearings in Washington and all the public interest,” Lukes said, “the archive launch comes at an exciting and critical time to look at this subject, understand its history, and see the potential for disinformation and spy games, all while considering the possibility of life out there.”

Lukes began collecting UFO memorabilia several years ago. People started donating their personal collections to her growing file cabinets of material. Donors included investigators who spent lifetimes compiling case files and correspondence. Lukes now maintains a substantial physical collection making up one of the most important UFO archives in the United States. She subsequently co-founded Expanding Frontiers Research in 2022 and got to work scanning records and preparing them for posting.

The online archive will include selections from the special collections of the late UFO research pioneers Ann Druffel and Gordon Lore, as well as records donated by longtime archivist Barry Greenwood. Work and correspondence with scientists J. Allen Hynek and James McDonald, as well as famous alleged alien abductee Betty Hill, will be featured. “While UFOs can be a fun and fascinating topic to explore, it's important for people to get a complete view of the individuals who made up the UFO subculture over the decades,” Lukes explained. “When we can browse the notes made by investigators and their contacts for ourselves, it better informs our perspectives than when we are limited to cherry-picked data that promotes a single point of view. At EFR we strive to publish reliable information that helps peel back some layers and show what's really been happening. That includes the good, the bad, and the ugly.”

The Emma Woods Special Collection will be among the sections maintained in the online archive. “Emma Woods,” a pseudonym, became a controversial figure in the UFO genre after she voiced objections to the actions and methodologies of UFO investigator and author David Jacobs. Her complaints arose out of her 2002-2007 interactions with Jacobs which included his highly questionable uses of hypnosis. Woods has been contributing records to the EFR archive for publication.

The archive will also highlight records obtained from intelligence agencies through the Freedom of Information Act. This includes FBI documents pertaining to intelligence officers who were active in the UFO community throughout their careers. EFR conducts FOIA requests as an ongoing part of its standard operations.

“More clearly understanding the past helps us more accurately understand the present,” Lukes explained, “and there are no better ways of learning the past than through official documents and going right to the original sources.”

Historic Congressional Hearing On UFOs, UAP – VIDEO

Historic Congressional Hearing On UFOs, UAP – VIDEO – www.theufochronicles.com

"What concerns me is that there is no 'Oversight' from our elected officials on anything associated with our government possessing or working on craft that we believe are not from this world"–Retired Navy Cmdr. David Fravor

WASHINGTON—The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs held a hearing titled, “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications in National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” Subcommittee members
discussed with witnesses the lack transparency and proper reporting mechanisms within federal agencies for air crew to report Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) interactions. Subcommittee members also discussed how pilots who report UAP encounters have faced harsh retaliation both professionally and personally, leading to a lack of desire to report UAP encounters and creating gaps in national security intelligence gathering.
Key Takeaways:

Federal agencies have poor or non-functioning internal reporting processes for military and commercial air pilots who encounter UAP. This has led to a lack of transparency, which has fueled speculation and eroded public trust.

• Ryan Graves— Executive Director for Americans for Safe Aerospace—testified on the ramifications that a lack of transparency can bring on the topic of UAP: “The government knows more about UAP than shared publicly, and excessive classification practices keep crucial information hidden. There’s a lack of transparency around UAP that’s unsettling. Since 2021, all UAP videos are classified as secret or above. This level of secrecy not only impedes our understanding but fuels speculation and mistrust.”

Commercial and military pilots who have reported UAP encounters have faced severe retaliation, damaging their professional careers and personal lives which has led to a chilling effect of pilots reporting interactions with UAP.

• David Grusch— Former National Reconnaissance Officer Representative, Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Task Force at the Department of Defense—testified on the retaliation he has faced from reporting on UAPs: “It was very brutal and very unfortunate some of the tactics they used to hurt me both professionally and personally to be quite frank…there were certain colleagues of mine who were brutally administratively attacked and it actually makes me very upset.”

Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs Chairman Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) examined the lack of training and internal reporting systems for military service members and commercial pilots to report and assess UAP information.

Rep. Grothman: “Do feel adequately trained and briefed on how to handle encounters with UAPs?”

Mr. Graves: “No. Right now military witnesses to UAP have limited options for reporting UAP. But more concerning is that the commercial airline aviation sector has not adapted to the lessons that the military has implemented. The military and DOD have stated that UAP represent a critical aviation safety risk, we have not seen that same language used being used in the commercial markets. They are not acknowledging this risk.”

Rep. Grothman: “What steps do you think need to be taken to improve pilots’ UAP reporting?”

Mr. Graves: “Right now we need a system where pilots can report without fear of losing their jobs. There is a fear that the stigma of being associated with this topic is going to lead to professional repercussions, either through management or perhaps through merely physical check. Having a secure system and reducing the stigma, and making this information available to the public is going to reduce the concerns that air crew have.”

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) discussed how the DOD spends massive sums of taxpayer dollars while continuously failing audits yet refuses to share UAP findings with the public.

Rep. Burchett: “We audit the Pentagon every year and I’ve been here five years and they failed the damn thing every year. They lose over a billion dollars a year, we think, and I’ve been the Department of Defense maybe 60% of their assets are unaccounted for or whatever the heck that means. In the public sector you go to jail for that kind of crap.”

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) highlighted how the stigma around UAPs has caused pilots who report their encounters to experience draconian consequences from officials within U.S. National Security space.

Rep. Luna: “In the last couple of years, have you had incidences that have caused you to be in fear for your life for addressing these issues?”

Mr. Grusch: “Yes, personally.”

Rep. Luna: “I just want everyone to know not that he’s coming forward in fear of his life to put in perspective if there were really not scared about this information, why would someone be intimidated like that?”

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) discussed the significant levels of underreporting of UAP due to pilots being fearful of retaliation, leading to a loss of potentially valuable national security intelligence gathering.

Rep. Mace: “What percentage of UAP sightings in your belief go unreported by our pilots?” Mr. Graves: “This is an approximation based off of my personal experience speaking with a number of pilots, but I would estimate we are somewhere near five percent reported.” Rep. Mace: “So 95 percent basically don’t report seeing UAP?” Mr. Graves: “That’s my personal estimate.”

Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena UAP / UFOs To Be Held By National Security Subcommittee

Hearing on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena UAP / UFOs To Be Held By National Security Subcommittee Artwork by www.theufochronicles.com

The Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Implications on National Security, Public Safety, and Government Transparency.” The subcommittee hearing will explore firsthand accounts of unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP)

and assess the federal government’s transparency and accountability regarding UAPs’ possible threats to U.S. national security. This hearing will also highlight legislative efforts to bring transparency to UAPs and require the federal government to provide the American people with information about potential
risks to public safety and national security.

“The Pentagon and Washington bureaucrats have kept this information hidden for decades, and we’re finally going to shed some light on it. We’re bringing in credible witnesses who can provide public testimony because the American people deserve the truth. We’re done with the cover-ups,” said Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).

In 2022, at the direction of Congress, the Department of Defense created the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) to investigate UAP reports. The federal government spends millions of dollars examining UAPs yet refuses to be forthcoming with the American people as it continues to declassify certain videos and studies on various UAP incidents with little clarity on the subject’s origins.

“The status quo on the part of the U.S. government has been to leave the American public in the dark regarding information about UAPs, refuse to answer questions posed by whistleblowers, avoid the concerns Americans have about the possible threats UAPs pose to our national security and public safety, and default to extreme and unnecessary over-classification. If the last few months have taught me anything, it is that this is an issue that matters to Americans. It also impacts the transparency and accountability our government is supposed to grant to the people who it serves. I look forward to bringing this topic to light,” said Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.).

(UAP), released the following announcement:

The SCU is pleased to announce a partnership agreement with Project Hessdalen, the longest continuously running multi-instrumented field research program on UAP. This international project, located in Hessdalen Valley, Norway, began in 1983. Our partnership gives Project Hessdalen formal access to SCU’s scientists, engineers, and mathematicians. In turn, the agreement enables SCU instrument developers to gain from Project Hessdalen’s enormous experience in field research of anomalous nocturnal lights and UAP.

Robert Powell, SCU Executive Board Member: “Unidentified aerial phenomena are witnessed on a global scale. Partnering with Project Hessdalen demonstrates the international interest in exploring the science of UAP.”

Richard Hoffman, SCU Executive Board Member: “Since the early 1980s, UAP have made repeatable appearances in Hessdalen, Norway. Erling Strand, one of our SCU Contributing Members, has engaged in long-term instrumented scientific studies of this phenomenon in conjunction with numerous other scientists around the world. The late Dr. J. Allen Hynek, during a visit in 1985, considered Hessdalen a ‘UFO Laboratory’ and was impressed with the phenomenon. SCU and Project Hessdalen share the same scientific interests and goals, namely the scientific study of UAP. We look forward to this partnership.”

Erling Strand, Project Hessdalen Project Manager: “Together, we can learn a lot about UAP on an international scale. Our collaborative efforts with the SCU will hopefully one day lead to greater scientific understanding of anomalous activities.”

UFO/UAP Scientific Study Group Calls for Transparency

Logo for The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU)

"THE SCIENTIFIC COALITION FOR UAP STUDIES CALLS FOR TRANSPARENCY FROM THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IN FURTHERANCE OF THE SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF UAP"

The Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies (SCU), a data-driven organization of scientists, academics, and research professionals dedicated to conducting and supporting open
scientific research into unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP), released the following statement:

The unprecedented military action this past week against unidentified objects in U.S. and Canadian airspace requires the Biden Administration to work transparently with the scientific community to share information and data that will allow academics to help address the problem of UAP identification. Such open research will help the public more fully understand the nature, causes, and consequences of the many reports of anomalous objects in our skies.

“It is the mission of the SCU to promote and encourage scientific understanding of UAP. The use of U.S. fighter jets to shoot-down anomalous aerial objects over Alaska, Canada, and Michigan came as quite a surprise,” said Robert Powell, SCU executive board member. “We understand there are sensitive national security issues involved. However, to further the scientific exploration of these phenomena, the government must be transparent and share data whenever possible with the scientific community.”

“We look forward in the days and weeks ahead to a transparent and detailed accounting of these events, including, where appropriate, time, date, location, video, photos, and underlying information about the physical characteristics of these yet-to-be identified aerial objects,” Powell concluded.

The National UFO Historical Records Center is Born

This is the new logo for the National UFO Historical Records Center. The largest historical archive dedicated to the preservation and centralization of UFO/UAP information in the United States.

"Our mission is to collect, preserve, and provide historical UFO materials to the general public and interested parties. With the accumulated data, we hope to assist with serious research endeavors and aid in an accurate chronicling of UFO/UAP history for present and future generations regardless of belief or non-belief in the subject."

Subject: Introduction of the newly-established National UFO Historical Records Center (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization)
Who: An assemblage of the leading U.S. UFO/UAP Historians and Archivists led by David Marler that includes: Jan Aldrich, Rod Dyke, Barry Greenwood, Dr. Mark Rodeghier, Rob Swiatek, and others.

What: The establishment of the largest historical archive dedicated to the preservation and centralization of UFO/UAP information in the United States.

Where: Physical archive to be based in the Albuquerque, New Mexico area.

Why: Our mission is to collect, preserve, and provide historical UFO materials to the general public and interested parties. With the accumulated data, we hope to assist with serious research endeavors and aid in an accurate chronicling of UFO/UAP history for present and future generations regardless of belief or non-belief in the subject.

Context: In recent years, there have been successive U.S. government disclosures acknowledging the UFO/UAP subject as a genuine phenomenon. Subsequently, multiple U.S. military, intelligence, and scientific agencies have started adopting programs to study the subject such as NASA and the AIAA. In addition, within the civilian sector, there has been an influx of new researchers into this field of inquiry. Many academics and scientists are included in this group. However, most of these parties do not have access to the vast array of historical materials and data sets in the hands of civilian U.S. UFO/UAP historians and researchers.

In conjunction with this new-found respectability regarding the UFO/UAP subject is the growing need to create more space for these historic materials. Individual U.S. researchers and historians have amassed large collections of data over the decades. These have been home-based archives scattered throughout the country. The National UFO Historical Records Center has been created to gather and centralize this historical UFO data in the United States into a singular freestanding facility. With the physical holdings residing in the Albuquerque area, these will be made available to those who visit in-person while efforts will be underway to actively digitize these materials for global accessibility.

A vast array of UFO files and collections are already destined to be added to the growing inventory during the course of the next 1-2 years. Currently, the collection consists of materials from over 25 countries derived from 70+ U.S. and foreign individuals. Some of the largest U.S. collections serve as the cornerstone for this center. This includes diverse materials from The Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS). We are also interested in anyone wanting to donate historical UFO/UAP materials to us.

Efforts are underway to acquire a building to house this national treasure and make it readily accessible to researchers, academics, and the general public. Funding and donations will be vital to making this vision a reality. Thus, the creation of this non-profit organization to facilitate achieving that goal.

We look forward to working collaboratively with similar free-standing worldwide UFO/UAP archives and those within the university setting. Together, we can preserve the history and, perhaps, gain insights into the mystery.

UFOs TODAY – 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation, and Government Cover-Up

UFOs TODAY – 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation, and Government Cover-Up

UFOs TODAY -70 Years of Lies, Misinformation, and Government Cover-Up,presents UFO studies that colleagues and I have undertaken during our thirty years as field investigators. The material is generally presented in chronological order, beginning with
Press Release
The UFO Chronicles
5-9-17
information that the government had been investigating the phenomena prior to the Kenneth Arnold event in 1947. The work is new and different because it focuses upon the importance of government research into this subject, whereupon most such research has centered on the investigation of witnesses and of the sites of UFO sightings.

What makes it truly unique and valuable is that several of my co-investigators and I have not only probed the organizations where the research on UFOs has been conducted, we have also worked in many of the most crucial institutions involved in the UFO field. Thus, unlike the few others that have done this kind of research, we have had an inside tract to understanding the organizations, the researchers, and the results of the studies. Examination of government knowledge of the UFO phenomena is vital because it provides important evidence about whether the subject is taken seriously by government authorities, and can potentially provide technical information about the phenomena.

The book also includes never-before-published first-hand interviews and correspondence with many of the most important and the initial investigators of the phenomena. This is significant because many of these people have died and those who are living are getting old. Thus, this research provides an historical record of the reasoning and opinions of those making an initial impact in this field.

It also covers the complexity of the phenomena, which has contributed to the difficulty and controversy in conducting this field of research.

This book also features the testimony of a former US Deputy Sheriff who was an alleged witness to the UFO crash at Roswell in 1947. This gentleman’s unique testimony will be published here for the first time.

UFOs TODAYis like no other book on the UFO subject as it comes from an academic who worked behind the scenes at a number of locations and witnessed the official cover-up for herself.
