Airspace Closures For 'Storm Area 51'

Airspace Closures For 'Storm Area 51'

Maybe the most aggravating and stupid online movement I have seen in a long while is "Storm Area 51." You can read about its ridiculous backstory here, but even the guy that inadvertently started it and the website that promoted it is now

warning potential 'stormers' that they shouldn't go, as doing so puts themselves and the local populous in the tiny little community of Rachel, Nevada in danger. They even liken it to being "Fyrefest 2.0." The military and law enforcement have taken the event seriously, although just how prepared the locales that are at the focus of the ordeal are for a possible human invasion remains very much in question. Regardless, temporary flight restrictions have been posted in advance of next weekend in two key locations.

MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Lincoln County UFO Emitted Beam of White Light

UFO Over North Carolina 1-24-07
Reader Submitted Report

I saw a ufo Wednesday evening, January 24, at around 7:45 p.m. It was stationary, rather low to the ground, and lit from inside by blue and white light. A beam of white light, cone-shaped, emanated from it, as though it wanted to search the ground. It seemed to be about 30-35 feet long and oval-shaped. I have good eyesight and do not have to wear glasses while driving. I had the feeling it was friendly in nature. Suddenly, it was gone.

Many, many such sightings over about six near-by counties were reported that night in the area, which surrounds Charlotte, North Carolina. I live in Lincoln County, which borders Mecklenburg, where Charlotte is located. The Charlotte Observer ran a front page story with a color photo of the same craft I saw, two days later. The writer of the article laughed at the whole idea, yet quoted many people who had seen it. Apparently over 900 calls were made reporting it.
