Two witnesses have come forward separately to say they saw a very bright beam of light descend out of the sky.

A UFO has been reported by a number of residents in the borough.

Two witnesses have come forward separately to say they saw a very bright beam of light descend out of the sky on the eve of Sunday July 27.

Norman Willis, 61, of Rugby Road, Burbage recalls seeing the peculiar light at around 11pm. He said: “I had just finished watching a film and I went into my back bedroom to have a look at the sky. It was clear except for one white cloud.

“It was fairly dark but the sky and stars were clear to see. All of a sudden a bright green beam came down out of the cloud for about three seconds before disappearing. It was a continuous beam down. . . .

A UFO has been spotted flying around the Hinckley area.

The incident was reported to the Leicestershire UFO Investigation Network who said on their Facebook page that a male witness spotted a “large pulsating bright red light in the sky” about the Jelson Estate on May 1.

The male reported seeing the possible alien spacecraft around the Hollycroft area at 9.55pm.

The witness stated: “I was just drawing my bedroom curtains when my eyes were drawn to an extremely vivid red light that was flying towards the east, very low in the sky - just above the rooftops. I opened the window to listen for sound, but there was nothing - just silence.

“I watched the object moving very slowly through the sky for about five minutes until it finally disappeared behind St Mary’s Church.

“I used my binoculars at one point, but the strange thing was that I couldn’t get them to focus on the object - even though I keep them ready for normal use and never have any trouble.”

Graham Hall, volunteer at LUFOIN, said: “The witness is a regular astronomer who is aware of what is in the sky so we are taking notice of what he is saying. . . .

The mystery of blue flying objects reported hovering over Hinckley may have been solved.

Dozens of people said they saw the objects on August 23.

Their reports reached the town branch of the Leicestershire UFO Research Society which immediately carried out investigations.

The society, which has been logging sightings since 1971, put the latest ones down to a remote controlled four-rotor "quadcopter".

The society's spokesman Graham Hall, who lives in the town, said that, after considering evidence from 35 witnesses, he was fairly convinced the sightings could be explained by people using quadcopters.

He said: "It's becoming clear that what was spotted in the skies that night was something quite explainable. . . .
