Prosecutors have established police noticed child pornography for years at Romanek's IP address

FORT COLLINS — Witnesses in a child pornography trial against Loveland resident Stanley Romanek called into question the defendant's whereabouts during suspicious computer activity on his home internet connection Friday.

Romanek was arrested in 2014 after a long-term investigation into files containing child pornography on his home internet service provider address. Police were led to search the Loveland home on April 12, 2013, which yielded hundreds of illicit images stored on computers in the home, according to police arrest documents.

A report obtained by the Huffington Post indicates that Romanek was under investigation for child pornography since 2008. Homeland Security Agent Darrel Franklin traced an internet protocol address back to Romanek and discovered that Romanek possessed child pornography from April to December of that year, according to the Huffington Post. Franklin also found child pornography on Romanek’s computer in 2013.

Stan Romanek, a prominent self-proclaimed "alien abductee", says his computer was hacked in a government conspiracy to silence him.

Stan Romanek, a prominent 54-year-old UFO enthusiast who claims to have been abducted by aliens “several times”, is set to face trial in Colorado on charges of possessing and distributing child pornography.

Romanek gained a certain newfound renown ahead of his 31 July 2017 trial date when Netflix released a feature-length documentary recounting 15 years’ worth of alleged extraterrestrial and supernatural encounters. Extraordinary: The Stan Romanek Story was originally made in 2013 by Seattle director Jon Sumple but not added to Netflix until July 2017, which in turn exposed the documentary — and the man — to the streaming website’s nearly 100 million subscribers.

The movie’s epilogue is therefore all the more jarring: “On February 13, 2014,” a subtitle reads, “Stan Romanek was arrested on child pornography charges.”

'New Evidence' in Romanek Porn Case Precipitates Another Trial Delay



FORT COLLINS — A Loveland man facing charges of possessing and distributing child pornography had his March jury trial vacated Friday and reset for eight days starting July 31.

The case of defendant Stanley Romanek, a 53-year-old self-proclaimed UFO and extraterrestrial expert, has been open on the court's docket for more than 1,100 days, Eighth Judicial District Judge Susan Blanco noted in postponing the trial.

Prosecuting attorney Josh Ritter did not object to further delaying the case.

Romanek waived his right to a speedy trial Friday so his attorneys, Elizabeth and Theodore McClintock, have time to review additional evidence that has surfaced in the case.

"We're talking a lot of forensic evidence [uncovered by the prosecution] here," Elizabeth McClintock said to the court.
