A bizarre space anomaly detected by the Kepler Spacecraft has caught the attention of SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). The institute recently pointed the Allen Telescope Array system 300 miles northeast of San Francisco at the star, KIC 8462852, to test the hypothesis that the anomaly may be a signature of an extraterrestrial civilization.
“If this pans out it could be the biggest story since the invention of the wheel or the discovery of fire—it’s on that scale,” said Dr. Michio Kaku in a phone interview with the Observer. [...]

Are There Signals Coming from Deep Space?
The star KIC 8462852 may have an unpronounceable name, but just about everyone with an interest in aliens has been talking about it. As of today, they can elaborate their discourse with some new results.
The conversations started about three weeks ago, when a paper written by a small battalion of astronomers pointed out that this star - an imposing 1400 light-years from where you're sitting - occasionally dips its headlights. Every few weeks or months, it will blink, temporarily dimming to as little as 80 percent of its normal brightness. There is no indication (and little likelihood) that this bizarre behavior is caused by planets orbiting the star. Even Jupiter-size worlds would only block about one percent of the star's light.
So what is going on? The astronomers who discovered this strange behavior considered several possible explanations for the dimming. Their favorite was the presence of cometary debris in orbit around the star - an idea they liked, but didn't love.
However others - and especially the press - were jumping on another, sexier bandwagon. The occasional dimming of KIC 8462852 might be due to "megastructures" - giant astroengineering projects that aliens had undertaken in their solar system. These could be space habitats or phalanxes of orbiting solar energy collectors (so-called Dyson swarms, named after the physicist who popularized the idea). They might even be giant, opaque "cut outs" whose blockage of starlight would be a beacon to other worlds, indicating that KIC 8462852 was an oasis of intelligence in the galactic desert.
All nice ideas. Exciting ideas. But how would you prove any of them? [...]

What is That Mysterious Blob on Radar? Answer Traced to Military
On June 4, meteorologists in Huntsville, Ala., noticed a "blob" on their radar screen that looked like a strong thunderstorm, despite the fact the sun was shining and not a drop of rain could be found within a few hundred miles. After some sleuthing, and several wacky explanations, the scientists have identified the culprit.
"Our operational meteorologist spotted it on radar immediately and initially thought he was caught off-guard by a pop-up thunderstorm that wasn't in the forecast," Matthew Havin, data services manager at weather technology company Baron Services, told LiveScience in an email. "Soon after that point we had numerous people from around Huntsville (and even other meteorologists from other states) calling and e-mailing us trying to determine what was going on at the time."
And some of the theories put forth to explain the mysterious blob were doozies, from the conspiracy theory that it was the result of a top-secret ground-based transmitter to interference from a nearby utilities substation. . . .

NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins tweeted photos of a weird looking cloud in space. It was a Russian missile launched in space, according to Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano.
Astronauts on the International Space Station have beamed home photos of an eerie space cloud outside their orbital home, a strange sight apparently created by a recent missile launch.
The astronaut photos were captured on Oct. 10 by NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins and European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano who took to Twitter under their pen names (@AstroIllini and @astro_luca, respectively) to share the unnatural looking space cloud formation with Earth.
"Saw something launch into space today," Hopkins wrote. "Not sure what it was but the cloud it left behind was pretty amazing." At first, Hopkins wasn't sure what created the odd looking cloud outside the window of the orbiting laboratory, but Parmitano cleared up the confusion with a Twitter post of his own.

'Mars Rat' Taking Internet by Storm | VIDEO
A Mars rock that bears a passing resemblance to a rodent is scuttling across the Internet with gusto, even inspiring some fans to set up a Twitter account in its name.
UFO buffs spotted the purported "Mars rat" in a panoramic photo snapped in September 2012 by NASA's Curiosity rover. Zooming in on a portion of the image reveals what appears to be a rodent crouching between two rocks, its nose to the ground.
"It's a cute rodent on Mars. Note its lighter-color upper and lower eyelids, its nose and cheek areas, its ear, its front leg and stomach," Scott Waring wrote at UFO Sightings Daily back in December. "Looks similar to a squirrel camouflaged in the stones and sand by its colors."
In an update to that post, Waring raised the possibility that NASA flew the rat/squirrel to Mars secretly, as part of an experiment testing out the Red Planet's ability to support life as we know it. . . .

MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Did Craft Cause Ongoing Electro-Magnetic Effects on Home?

This is not my experience, but one of a close friend. 2-10-09
He recently bought a home that he is having an incredible amount of problem with. It seems that there is an untraceable electrical field flowing though the house. He was able to trace some of the source of the electricity to a water line, but no one could explain why the line was conducting the current or where it was coming from.
After a nonconducting break was put into the line, the current weakened, but the house still appears to have a strong magnetic / electrical field associated with it. People walking into the house often get a metallic taste in their mouth while other younger visitors report a high pitched frequency emitting from the home.
The home has a several dust and particle problem that is way to high to be healthy. My friend installed a state of the art filtration system that lowered it some, but for the most part the home still is 4 to 5 times higher than acceptable.
The person who installed the filtration test said he had never seen such high levels in all the years he had done testing, even inside new construction or other areas that generate huge amounts of dust.
The past resident of the home died from emphysema and cancer at the time he sold it to my friend. My friend has exhausted all known means of reducing the amount of dust with no result.
The UFO Connection in this comes from a neighbor, who, not knowing about the problems my friend is having, disclosed that years ago she witnessed a UFO hovering directly above my friend's front yard. As it hovered, it appeared to be a solid saucer, but the metallic exterior seemed to shimmer or roll. After a minute of sitting there the home took off at almost light speed.
The question we are having is if a UFO could have changed the magnetic field in the ground under it when it took off, with the greatest effect being directly under it, and then slowly dissipating as one moves away from the center location. That would explain why the home still had a electromagnetic disturbance, but why the biggest source was conducting itself from the water line through the yard and into the house. The house, by having this electromagnetic disturbance is attracting the high levels of dust and minute particles.
At this point my friend is about to walk away from the home and let the bank foreclose. There seems to be no logical explanation to the proven anomalies he is experiencing with the home.
Is there anyway to test to see if the magnetic field has been altered? Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
