MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Lt Commander (Ret) Recounts Seeing a Triangular Shaped Object While Serving on The USS Midway

Triangular UFO Over USS Midway

To whom it may concern,

Where to begin...? I've told this story to many people over the years but this is the first time I've written it down.

I spent 30 years in the Navy and was in the aviation field. I enlisted and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7) and a few years later became an officer retiring as a Lieutenant Commander (O-4). I worked on and was around many different types of aircraft over the years. I am now a civilian contractor still working around aircraft. I have a pretty keen eye on what flies and I'm not easily fooled or easily mistaken.

I have to apologize because I do not remember the exact date of my experience but it was in 1975 or 76 while I was on a training detachment in South Korea. I was attached to an A-6E Intruder squadron stationed on the USS Midway, CV-41 and we had gone to a small airbase at Kwang Ju. I had only been in the Navy about 4 years at this time, I was a second class petty officer (E-5) and I had been trained to work on Radars, computers and weapons delivery systems.

It was night about 8 p.m., it was moonless and very clear without a cloud in the sky. The stars were very bright, it was one of those nights that it seemed like you could reach out and touch the stars, almost no back ground light; just the soft glow of aircraft lights and jet engine noise. About 15 technicians were there to work on the aircraft in case they had problems during the launch.

At the time, I was facing the aircraft and watching the pilots for any signs of problems when suddenly I got a funny feeling that I was being watched. I turned around and looked up, I did not directly see an object, but instead saw the star light being blocked out and it was in the shape of a triangle. The other feature was a detached ball, I can't remember if the ball was at the pointed end or the rear/flat end on the triangle. The ball was a short distance away from the triangle and may have been attached, but without a light source it's hard to say. I also can't say how large the object was or at what altitude it might have been, and with our jet's engines running I could not tell if there was any noise coming from the object.

After a few minutes of staring I went to a buddy of mine standing nearby and without telling him anything I asked him to look up and tell me what he saw, he replied the saw a triangle with a ball. We both then went to a third person and without saying anything asked him to look up and tell us what he saw, he also replied seeing a triangle with a ball.

By now we're ignoring our jets and we're focusing on the triangle shape. It was not moving, it just seemed to be hovering above us. After several minutes we noticed it appeared to be getting smaller. It was going straight up gaining altitude causing it to appear smaller. We watched it until we couldn't see it anymore, when suddenly three bright lights zipped in from different directions to the same spot and they also disappeared. I then said out loud, "that was weird" at which time all the lights on the base went out and remained out for about an hour. We asked around and told several people what we had seen, but no one seemed interested, so we pretty much dropped it. Not much to add after this. We got off work several hours later. We were at the airbase a couple of weeks and never saw the object again.

If you have any questions I'll be glad to answer them the best I can.

MY UFO EXPERIENCE:
Witness Recounts Triangular Shaped, Silent Craft Over Clear Lake California

My UFO Experience

3-25-10

In August 1994 I was newly divorced and living alone with my dog in a rural area of Clear Lake, California. My place was on a small mountain top with no neighbors and a very good view of all the surrounding countryside. One night I stepped to my back porch for a smoke and for a look at the stars, which were very bright in that rural setting. Suddenly I saw a very bright light coming straight at me from the northwest over a low hill.

I knew that I was on the path of a military fly zone that went from one Northern California air force base to another. We knew this because military helicopters, transports and fighter jets were often seen going back and forth in this air corridor.

I figured it was the headlight of a helicopter since it seemed to be moving relatively slow and low. The light got brighter and brighter as the craft approached my position. Suddenly the light changed and I saw three red running lights in a rough triangle as it passed over me. I did not recognize the shape. I'd never seen anything like it.

I was looking at it and trying to see what kind of craft it might be when suddenly I noticed with a start that there was absolutely no noise. Now I was intrigued! I stepped out into my backyard away from the lights of my house and watched this craft as it flew slowly over my position. I realized that I could hear the air rushing past this craft but other than that it was totally silent. I watched it as it kept on going on the corridor until it was out of sight.

It was like nothing I had ever seen before. The total silence and triangle shape was unnerving. I thought it might have been some US military craft of some kind or though less likely, perhaps a UFO using that flight corridor for some reason. I could not really say how big it was because there were no reference points. I knew it was something unusual because I heard the air rushing past the craft as it went overhead.

Doing research in the years afterwards I saw some of the photos of triangular craft that people have taken and it looked exactly like that. I have come to the conclusion that it was a secret US Military craft, flying at night in an area where it was unlikely to be seen, but that is just my best guess.

MY UFO EXPERIENCE: Triangular Shaped UFO Seen Near Eglin AFB

Monday evening, January 26, 2009, I stepped out back for a cigarette during a commercial break. I live a few miles from both Eglin AFB and Hurlburt Field, and we are accustomed to aircraft of all kinds flying or ripping about the sky. The evening was clear and cold, the time was 20:28hours to 20:32 hrs. My eyes had become accustomed to the dark, and I was trying to discern the fainter stars in Orion which was high in the Southern night sky.

Had I not been staring at this location intently, I would never have been able to see a triangle shaped craft flying an estimated 200’ to 400’ in altitude. The outline was clearly visible, and while “darker” than the night sky background, it seemed translucent. Other than a clear outline, the inside dimensions blended very well with the background, much like that Schwartzneggar movie, Predator. It was traveling from due West of my position to due East. No lights, and absolutely no noise. The perfect stealth craft as it startled me that something could get that close, that low, that was so hard to discern visibly, other than the fact that I happened to be looking intently right where it flew into my line of sight.

Speed was a constant slow speed, altitude and direction maintained, until it disappeared behind trees on the horizon. On its current track, it would have crossed the main runway at Hurlburt Field within another minute or two. With no running lights, this could have logically been a potential for a problem. Estimated width was 40’ +/- ten feet. Harder at night.

Had I not been looking in the exact spot at that exact moment, this would have passed right over my head without me noticing. And that was a bit disturbing. Now, when I go out, I don’t look up in the same manner as I did before. Because I know that something like this could be right behind or even overhead, and you’ll likely not be able to discern the faint shape, due to the “blending” of the surface.
