Another UFO Carnival is Born: ‘UFO Crash’ Party in Olde Burien | UFO NEWS
On Monday night (April 1), Olde Burien was taken over by a crashed UFO, aliens and assorted Men and Women in Black for the first-ever ‘UFO Crash and Flash Mob’ April Fool’s event.
At least 300 people packed a closed-off SW 152nd to enjoy live music, various Flash Mob dances, see Ciscoe emerge from a flying saucer, a helicopter hover overhead, spotlights light the sky, costume contest, photo booth and more.
Revelers also commemorated the upcoming production of “The Maury Island Incident,” a short film based on a nearby, historic 1947 UFO sighting, to be shot locally starting in June.

A week from tonight – Monday, April 1, starting at 7 p.m. – you can experience a ‘Close Encounter of the Burien Kind’ at a crazy ‘UFO Crash Event’ April Fool’s stunt that will be definitely worth attending!
The event – meant to promote the upcoming filming of “The Maury Island Incident” – will take place in Olde Burien at the intersection of SW 152nd and 10th Ave SW (map below), and will feature a staged 3-D UFO crash, a Flash Mob dance, and an after-party at the Tin Room where $500 in prizes will be awarded for Best Man in Black, Woman in Black and Best Alien costumes!
Produced by Renatta Emerson Events, the evening will also include Drink & Food Specials at the Tin Room, along with a fun Photo Booth. . . .
. . . “The Maury Island Incident” will be a short film based on the true story of a man’s UFO sighting claim near Maury Island on June 21, 1947. This often-overlooked incident happened just two days before Ken Arnold’s Mount Rainier sighting, which spawned the phrase “flying saucers,” and 16 days before the infamous Roswell crash. It also included what is considered by many experts to be the first “Men in Black” encounter. Filming is set to begin in June.
Of the film, Writer/Producer Steve Edmiston says “This is a tragic story of what happens when you choose to tell the world something they won’t believe.” . . .

The film – “The Maury Island Incident” – is based on the true story of Harold Dahl’s UFO sighting that occurred off Maury Island on June 21, 1947, considered by many to be one of the first modern-day encounters. This incident – which has never before been turned into a film – happened just two days before Ken Arnold’s historic UFO sighting, and 16 days before the infamous Roswell crash.
The summer of 1947 is noted by many as the “summer of saucers,” as numerous flying disc sightings were reported throughout the US, along with increased interest and investigation by authorities from the FBI and other government agencies.
The 22-minute film will be Directed by Scott Schaefer (Founder/Publisher, South King Media; 3-time National Emmy winning Writer for “Bill Nye the Science Guy“; Director, “Penn & Teller: Bullsh*t!”, “Sightings,” and others). Steve Edmiston (“The Day My Parents Became Cool,” “Crimes of the Past,” “A Relative Thing,” “Farewell to Harry,” and others) will write the screenplay. Schaefer and Edmiston will also serve as Producers. . . .
