Mystery of The Bristol Hum Has Been Solved

Mystery of The Bristol Hum Has Been Solved

By The Bristol Post

It's a mystery that has baffled hundreds across the city for more than three decades.

Over the years, many have claimed it to be nothing more than a myth, but for those who were kept awake at night by the "Bristol Hum", it was very real.

But now scientists believe they may have finally solved the mystery behind the noise which infuriates some but leaves others shrugging their shoulders. French researchers have offered an explanation of what could have been causing the low droning that has plagued some Bristolians for all these years – and it's not wind turbines, power lines, or even UFOs, as suggested over the years.

According to a senior research scientist at Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, the elusive humming sound, which is now reported much further afield, is actually caused by the pressure of waves vibrating on the ocean floor. . . .

Mysterious Hum Heard Around World Impacts 2 Percent Of People

It creeps in slowly in the dark of night, and once inside, it almost never goes away.

It's known as the Hum, a steady, droning sound that's heard in places as disparate as Taos, N.M.; Bristol, England; and Largs, Scotland.

But what causes the Hum, and why it only affects a small percentage of the population in certain areas, remain a mystery, despite a number of scientific investigations. [The Top 10 Unexplained Phenomena]

Reports started trickling in during the 1950s from people who had never heard anything unusual before; suddenly, they were bedeviled by an annoying, low-frequency humming, throbbing or rumbling sound.

The cases seem to have several factors in common: Generally, the Hum is only heard indoors, and it's louder at night than during the day. It's also more common in rural or suburban environments; reports of a hum are rare in urban areas, probably because of the steady background noise in crowded cities.

Only about 2 percent of the people living in any given Hum-prone area can hear the sound, and most of them are ages 55 to 70, according to a 2003 study by acoustical consultant Geoff Leventhall of Surrey, England. . . .

The Phenomenon of Strange Sounds Heard By Entire Communities

By www.topsecretwriters.com
June 2013

There is a genuine phenomena that has been sweeping the planet with reports of loud, sometimes glass-shattering booms that sound like explosions in the sky.

It isn’t thunder since the skies are typically clear with no storms in the areas when the booms occur. Others report hearing trumpets like a shofar from ancient Biblical times. Still, others describe the sounds as groaning metal or metal clashing that is never-ending.

The phenomena can last seconds or hours and many communities have been hearing the sounds for months. With instant worldwide communication, news of these unusual sounds set off a wildfire of YouTube videos.

Many videos were clearly hoaxed from the juvenilistic YouTube sector, but many more videos appeared authentic and posted by sincerely baffled YouTubers.

Some of the theories for what these sounds are include:

• UFO battles being waged far above the planet

• Opening and closing of stargates or wormholes to allow alien craft entrance and exit of Earth.

• Fracking, the extracting of natural gas from shale and controversial topic of environmental impact.

• HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) notes played via technology that creates whistler waves of electromagnetic discharges. . . .
