Presentation Re UFOs to a US Congressional Sub-Committee

Presentation Re UFOs to a US Congressional Sub-Committee

New US Congressional hearings on UFOs?

In a post dated 28 June 2018, titled "New US Congressional hearing on UFOs?" I explored which Congressional committee might be undertaking a fresh look at the UAP topic. The best fit for this, is the US Congress' Senate Armed Services Committee.

Further research led me to conclude that it is the subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities of the Senate Armed Services Committee, which is the actual interested party.

Indeed, my research shows that this very subcommittee, has oversight of the area of the US Department of Defense, where I believe the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program

Now, thanks to the eagle eyes of Canadian researcher Paul Scott Anderson, it has come to my attention that MUFON's Director of Investigations, Chase Kloetzke, was interviewed, on 25 September 2018 by Alejandro Rojas. Part of the interview was about Washington politics. The following are my notes on the relevant portion of this interview.

Chase mentioned that she now lives in Washington, DC, and two years ago obtained a lobbyist's identification. After spending six months learning the Washington political system, she started making telephone calls. She now has been promised a ten minute time slot to provide a presentation on UAP, but hopes this might lead to more time in future. The presentation is to the "threat assessments subcommittee" and will be a package of evidence from a recent case that MUFON and NICAP have investigated.

She said that anyone could get their foot in the door. They do background checks but she was not asked to show her lobbyist's identification at any time. You need to be careful how you present to them. They care about what is going on today. The case she will present, is a "door opener." You also need to follow the money the $22M. Senator Rand Paul had a meltdown over this money. Chase called his office and said that if the AATIP is still going, who is funding it? Let me know what you find out.

So, if Chase is presenting to the "threats assessments subcommittee" this is likely to be the US Congress' Senate Armed Services Committee's subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities (or a staffer for this subcommittee.)

It should be noted that while the US Congress House of Representatives also has an Armed Services Committee, subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities it would appear that the Senate subcommittee of the same name, is in the lead at the moment.

I hope that Chase Kloetzke is able to keep us all informed of the results of her presentation.

I welcome hearing from any blog reader who might be able to throw additional light onto the contents of this post.

An Anomalous Skull, Formerly Known as 'Star Child' To Undergo New Scientific Analysis

Owners of Unusual Skull Seek Help of Veteran Researcher for Future Scientific Study

In the late 1990s, a strange-looking relic known as the “Star Child” skull first began to appear on the UFO lecture circuit. With its odd, bulbous shape, the skull appeared to bear obvious cranial deformation, causing it to have marked similarity to the alleged alien “Grays” represented in UFO abductee literature since the 1960s.

Lloyd Pye
This similarity had been what prompted researcher Lloyd Pye, whose interest early on had involved reports of anomalous primates and mysteries of human origin, to take up the cause, championing the skull as bonafide evidence of alien visitation to Earth. Thus, throughout the rest of his life Pye proceeded with raising funds for scientific tests, in an effort to credibly present what became known as the “Star Child” to the world. Pye himself had said, upon first being shown the specimen, that it became his hope to “shove it down science’s throat.”

For all his enthusiasm, the “alien” origin of the skull that became the focus of Pye’s efforts throughout the remainder of his life has yet to be proven. Though he had remained ever hopeful that the skull would turn out to be a likely candidate for ET, much of the data available today suggests otherwise, though certain ambiguities about its exact nature do persist.

The true aim of science, rather than to “prove” the unexplained, seeks to rule out the improbable, through tests for falsification which might yield new data that helps form future hypotheses and, eventually, new understandings of the nature of things around us.

In lieu of this, it would indeed be difficult to “prove” the existence of alien life with such a specimen, even in the event that it were found to bear anomalous, non-human traits, the likes of which Pye might have hoped for. After all, against what other information might the specimen and its traits be compared, in order to help indicate it hadn’t been of earthly origin?

For all of the specimen’s unusual traits, it is a human cranium that it most closely resembles. Nonetheless, this has done little to dissuade advocates of human-alien hybrid programs, nor the opposing critics who eagerly assert that it belonged to some other mammalian creature; these range from dogs or some variety of monkey, to perhaps the most absurd suggestion of all: that of a common mole (and this, despite the fact that the very largest species within the mole family, the Russian desman, clocks in at just 18 ounces, at its very heaviest).

Despite the controversy over its identity and origin, also amidst the persistent questions about the specimen are those dealing with where it was discovered, by whom, and most troubling of all, why it was dubbed the “Star Child” in the first place.

To understand these questions, one must trace the specimen back to its actual owners, from whom Lloyd Pye had initially borrowed the skull in February, 1999. It was through this meeting that Pye himself learned the story of its discovery in rural Mexico in the 1930s, alongside what had been a rather normal-looking companion.

The Discovery

Melanie and Ray Young are residents of El Paso, Texas. Some time in the mid 1990s, Melanie learned about the skull from a longtime friend, who inherited it from its original owner that passed away several years earlier.

“He had it in his garage for a number of years,” Young recalls of its years prior to entering her possession. Young had been operating a day spa at the time, and the wife of the skull’s owner had been one of her employees. After producing a number of photographs of the skull, Young asked if she could actually see the specimen. “He gave it to me, and said he didn’t know what it was. I started to examine it, and it had all the same bones you or I have, but they were misshapen.”

“It was the weirdest deformity I had seen,” Young said. “I also worked at the teaching hospital at the time, and it matched nothing that I had seen in our reference manuals.”

Young had worked in the medical profession for a number of years already. She attended the Methodist School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas, and worked in the area of neonatal care for nearly two decades, prior to which she had been part of a pediatric oncology unit based in Lubbock. “It’s the highest stress area to work in a hospital,” Young says. “My care for kids is one reason why I felt this (skull) belonged to a child. Why did I think it was a child? Well that’s my love, and its size was small.”

Young’s friend explained that the specimen had been discovered in a cave or abandoned mine, which was said to have been located southwest of Chihuahua, Mexico. At the time of its discovery, the original owner had been in her teens, and traveled to Mexico on vacation with family members. Despite being instructed not to visit the mine shafts nearby due to safety concerns, the individual in question had done so anyway, leading to the discovery of a small skeleton bearing the unusual skull, buried beside a normal human skeleton which remained above ground.

With hopes for finding someone who could help garner attention from the scientific community, Young and her husband decided to attend a local meeting of the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), where members in attendance were able to introduce her to a pair of specialists in the fields of neurology and orthopedics. Upon examination, the pair of doctors expressed little interest in the small, misshapen skull, focusing instead on its companion, the “normal” human skull (also still in Young’s possession), which seemed to bear evidence of damage sustained from possible injury.

Shortly thereafter, Young’s associates with MUFON advised that researcher Lloyd Pye would be passing through the area to give a presentation before the group’s local chapter. Arrangements were made for a meeting between the parties, which resulted in Pye obtaining the skulls, expressing hopes at procuring scientific testing to help determine the nature of the unusual specimen.

As for why it had been dubbed the “Star Child”, Young notes that at roughly the same time Lloyd Pye was given the skull, many in the UFO community had been urging for disclosure of its existence to the public. However, if it were to be presented publicly, a name for the new specimen would also be required.

“At the time, we didn’t know if it was a boy or a girl,” Young says. “Since we were at a MUFON event, we adopted the word ‘star’, and ended up calling it the Star Child.”

Scientific Study

A number of studies were carried out throughout the period in which Pye had kept the skull. However, as Young notes, Pye had at times been dismissive of certain test results, having seemingly grown attached to the notion that the skull might represent some evidence of extraterrestrials or, more specifically, a “hybrid” resulting from human and extraterrestrial interbreeding. This presumption seemed to lead Pye’s inquiries over the years, which nonetheless resulted in a number of scientific studies that revealed various traits attributed to the skull.

Presiding amidst the theories of the skull’s origin, it is believed that the “Star Child” had indeed belonged to a young male, whose unusual appearance resulted from a congenital defect (some have suggested a form of hydrocephalus, which Young disputes). The determination of the child’s gender is based on DNA testing that was conducted at the Bureau of Legal Dentistry in Vancouver, British Columbia, in 1999. Standard X- and Y-chromosomes were present, indicating not only the male gender, but also the likelihood that each of the parents were human. A subsequent 2003 study conducted by Trace Genetics suggested that DNA contained within samples taken from the skull were of Native American origin.

While much has been made of dismissing the skull’s supposed “alien” origins in skeptical literature over the years, moving forward with the presumption of an extraterrestrial hypothesis is not the aim of Young’s current work. Presently, Young hopes that new scientific studies of the skull can help determine what it is not, rather than try to bolster claims of its exotic nature.

“All I thought about was the fact that it lived long enough for the bones to connect, and stay connected; for the teeth to have grown, and the teeth be used so much that wear on them could be seen,” Young says.

“There’s DNA present that we could use to help better (the lives of) our children if any of those deformities can be better understood. What was going on with this child 900 years ago that allowed it to survive? It has to be a genetic thing; what can we learn from the genetics that can help us?”

Young suggests that much of the controversy over the skull and its presumed “alien” origins stems from the name that was selected for it nearly two decades ago.

“That’s probably the thing that, basically, has been the issue. Because if you say ‘Star Child’, people Google it, and the first thing that comes up is Wikipedia, which says that it is hydrocephalic, and a result of head-boarding.”

Young disputes assertions that the skull is hydrocephalic. “If it were hydrocephalic, there would be a membrane between the bones,” Young says, adding that a dip running down the middle of the skull seems inconsistent with a hydrocephalic infant that managed to survive well into childhood. The child’s age beyond infancy is further supported by the teeth remaining within the skull, which show evidence of wear from chewing. Young also states that the skull’s shape is inconsistent with the results of cradle boarding observed in similar cranial samples from the period in question.

Moving Forward

On December 9, 2013, Lloyd Pye died after several months battling lymphoma cancer. Having retired from active involvement in studying the Star Child skull prior to his death, the skulls were returned to Young’s possession, with a brief hiatus from further research.

“(Lloyd) never wrote another book, because he gave it all up to run with the Star Child, for me,” Young says. “I feel like I owe it to him, and his legacy, to finish this.”

Chase Kloetzke
With the intent of proceeding with new studies of the skull, Young enlisted the help of researcher and author Chase Kloetzke, who has participated in studies of human skulls from Paracas, Peru, which did display cranial deformation. Touted by some as being anomalous, Kloetzke has been among those who have demonstrated the human origins of these skulls, as well as the processes used to produce their elongated appearance.

Kloetzke’s studies have led her across three continents, where she has presented her research in public lectures, the likes of which brought her to Young’s attention at the 2016 International UFO Congress held in Scottsdale, Arizona.

“Chase was doing her lecture, and I normally don’t stay for the question and answer portions,” Young recalls. “Somebody in the audience asked her the question, ‘what would be the evidence that would be the be-all, end-all for you?’ Chase told them ‘DNA’. My husband thought I was going to trip over people to get down to the microphone. I knew then that she was my person.”

Of the elongated Paracas skulls Kloezke has studied in the past, Young shares Kloetzke’s views that their unusual appearance can be explained.

Elongated Skulls from Paracas, Peru
Perascas, elongated skulls are on display at Museo Regional de Ica in the city of Ica in Peru

“There are some I would really like to get hold of and examine more closely, but the majority look like they were banded,” Melanie says, again referencing the process of cranial deformation practiced by many early indigenous cultures. The unusual appearance of these elongated skulls has prompted some fringe theorists to present them as evidence of ancient contact between humans and extraterrestrials, despite the banding that led to their formation being widely recognized today.

With all its history of controversy, Young hopes that future studies of the skull will help shed light on its origins, and the nature of its possible deformities.

“We’re taking the project in a different direction. We’re not married to the outcome, we just want to get there.”

“I don’t want to challenge the findings,” Young adds. “I want to discuss them.”

UPDATE | MUFON Star Team Experiences Close Encounter of The Third Kind During Investigation

Alien in The Road

It Was Just 1 Second!

By Chase Kloetzke
Former Deputy Director of Investigations
&
Star Team Manager

Chase KloetzkeAuthor's Note–The witness that filed this report with MUFON using the CMS has NOT released confidential information. The names will not be used nor the location revealed. 7 other witnesses claimed to have seen the very events that were reported but refused to come forward or go on the record. It is a small town and the witness summed up the residential mind-set when he said, “Chase, around here people mind their own business and we don’t like people that don’t!”–CK

Editor's Note–As An UPDATE, Photographs from the case file have been inserted into the report–FW

Case in Middle Tennessee (Area Shot 1)

“We saw about 8 Fireball looking things hovering over trees . . . They came back up and turned into red flashing light with a clear white one that stayed on and flew off"

On April 20th, I was assigned a case by my Chief Investigator, Max Mitchell. In reviewing the report, I began highlighting key elements and making notes. I saw a commonly reported claim of “orange fireballs”, red and white lights in the sky that would cluster with up to 27 at one count, they would maneuver and hover and multiple witnesses have viewed these things.

As I began to prepare for my initial contact call, I quickly wrote some immediate questions that I had and I made the call. The witness retold of the sighting and then said, “It happens almost every night.” I gave him my contact information and asked him to stay in touch if there were any more events.

The Tennessee 100 Year Flood Over the course of the next week, we talked daily. I had scheduled an on-site investigation for the following weekend. This was the time of the Tennessee 100 year flood that occurred throughout the state on May 1, 2010. We were all locked down for another week. I had already been researching the usual suspects, such as, Satellites, Space station, radar reports, stars and weather and now used this extra time to researched the area of interest, surrounding area, and tried to locate information of possible other reports.

This is what I found:
  • The county lies in both the Mississippi and Tennessee basin. (This is a portion of land that has been drained by rivers. This area is estimated to be approximately 520 miles).
  • Rough terrain and hills are close to the property.
  • Several significant lakes and ponds surround the area.
  • The area under soil is consistent with unconsolidated sands and clays of green sand and shell bed formation of cretaceous and orange sand. Fossil shell and mica are also present. Iron is located very near the top soil in bluff loam.
  • Tennessee ley lines are reported located at Old Stone Fort in Manchester County and the Pinson Mounds in Madison County.
  • Both are Federal Archeological Parks. (Ley lines are alleged alignments of ancient sites or holy places).
  • The Pinson mounds are considered sacred and are most likely built 1-499 AD. This pre-historic Native American complex includes 17 mounds, earthen geometric enclosure and a number of habitation. This complex is the largest in the US and Saul’s Mound is 72 feet.
  • There are 3 military bases within 100 miles of the event zone.
  • Satellite imaging showed thousands of acres of farm land that are Obviously used for crops and cattle.
  • I searched for significant data or same reports.
  • I searched for historical reports and although found several interesting urban legends, there were no historical accounts of UFOs.
I called the county sheriff’s office, local newspaper and the airport to check on local reports that may have been documented or any information was available. There was none.

Max, (our Chief Investigator) was getting updates and was very concerned with my planned trip alone to a very rural area, assigned a Secondary Investigator to ride with me. He assigned Alyson Burgess.

My witness was getting increasingly anxious and he stated that he and his cousin were out there every night looking for them and now chasing them. I talked him into trying to take pictures of what he was seeing and not to be too aggressive in his actions. At this point, I am more worried about him on these country roads late at night chasing things we know nothing about.

Orb Photo Case in Middle Tennessee
On May 4th, he details a new object in the sky. He reported seeing one of “those lights” coming closer and as it did, he saw 2 more right behind it. When asked for more detail, he remained quiet for a moment and asked if I could just get out there.

Two days later at approximately 4 pm, he called very excited and said that there are now a couple of Helicopters around the area and he, in all his years in this town, has never seen helicopters fly at all over his property, let alone in his fields like, “they were looking for something.” Then he proceeded in stating that the night before the “three lights came back”, flew over his house, just like the other night: "you know, the triangle!" he said.

In 30 minutes, I had my “Go Bag” and I was out the door. On the way to pick up Alyson, I did consider, as many times before, how incredible these reports were. Why so many different objects? Orange glowing fireballs clearly in the sky and woods? Lights in the sky that display a variety of color and cluster to a reported 27 in one place? Now triangles and helicopters?

It has been 2 1/2 weeks that I have maintained contact with this witness and have already conducted 2 thorough interviews and could not get around how credible he seemed. He is a professional businessman with a high profile in the community. He has lived here all his life and even built his home 1 mile from where he grew up. I am very aware at how desperately he did not want his family, location or his name to ever be released. This man had absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose. He sincerely was not looking for publicity or monetary values.

I am now actually making this trip to help explain these unusual experiences and find the very common factor or sensible evidence so this man can get back to his otherwise, normal life.

Corn Field Near Witness' Home We arrived approximately 7:15 pm. and within 10 minutes of pulling into his driveway, he escorts us to the backyard and points to an area in the sky. Just then he says, “Well, there’s one now.” I looked and did indeed see a light in the sky. As I’m watching, waiting to point out the FAA lighting, several more appeared. Our Witness suggests that there is a better view in the corn field right down the road. I never did get to point out the obvious aviation lights. The 3 of us piled into a big, 4 wheel drive truck and headed towards the 100 acres of newly planted corn that has only reached a 4-6 inch height. We were in the middle for a panoramic view.

Once we arrived, I started to set up my equipment. Cameras, Tri-field meter, Magnetometer, flashlight, Binoculars, my triple threat digital recorder (that also records lower frequencies and white noise), laser dot thermometer and several other pieces of equipment. Again, almost immediately we started to witness these lights, different colors, different locations in the sky, and at one point we could turn in any direction and see these lights.

Orbs Photo Case in Middle Tennessee MedWe then spotted a “set” of lights that appeared to be coming closer. We all grabbed our cameras and soon found that all 4, different makes and models were not working. I started for my equipment so that I could record readings and also found everything was frozen. Nothing worked! The craft came closer and we could easily see 3 white lights in a large triangle shape with a red light in the center. A clear outline was visible. The object was completely silent and never changed direction or speed. It flew directly over our heads. I could not believe my eyes! I honestly never expected to see anything, especially this! I felt over-whelmed and stunned.

We continued to watch until it left our view. There was no hiding the excitement and I quickly turned my attention back to the equipment that failed. I just knew we had experienced a common occurrence, battery drain but everything was back on-line and working. I was so puzzled and as I started to take the battery case off of my tri-field to check it, I started to feel this very uneasy feeling. It was quickly growing uncomfortable. I turned and said, “Does anyone else feel like they are being watched? And I don’t mean from up there . . . but observed from here”. It wasn’t but 30 seconds later that I felt a complete fear that I have never known capture every cell of my body and it was almost a “blind terror”. We all seemed to turn to run at the same time.

The witness was ahead of me by about 4 feet and had a large flashlight. As we turned to run, his light swung around his body and in the beam of light we saw something. He said, “What the F– was that!” and turned the flashlight back to that spot. There about 6 feet away was a being about 3 ½ ft tall, just standing. It was one second. One, one thousand, two..! One little tick on a clock but we saw it! We were now in full panic run! We all made it to the truck, got in and left that corn field so fast, we caught air several times on the dirt path to the road. No one spoke.

We reached the drive way and after getting out of the truck, we all just looked at each other for a moment. No one knew what to say. Someone then spoke and we all just kind of started laughing a bit. I felt completely crazy! It was a just a minute and then there was quiet again.

Alyson started dialing her phone and I looked up at our witness and he again appeared very shaken. I asked him if was OK and he replied, “Chase what was that?” I just looked at him a moment not quite sure what to say and then he asked, “You saw it right?” I answered yes. He asked again, “what was that thing Chase?” Now, I’m gaining some senses back and not wanting to lead my witness, {I preferred HIS description first}, I just said, “It was real”. He was seriously struggling with his emotions and actually bent down and looked up at me and said, “I’m not crazy right?? Thank you for coming . . . you just don’t know . . . you saw it right??? What does it want?”

As he regained composure, I realized that “we” were the strangers, the professionals that had no reason to just go along with what he said was happening. HE had an unbiased witness. Normal, rational thinking was coming back fast and the terror I experienced was completely gone. I’m now thinking that we have to get back to that field as soon as possible. 30 minutes from our now seemingly comic exit, we were back in the field.

Back in Investigator mode, we decided to back the vehicle into a wood line to conceal our presence to try and pick up additional activity. Alyson soon pointed out a yellowish light in the woods that ascended up through the trees and hover just outside but above the trees. As it moved, it tended to have a wobble effect in the flight and was soon gone out of sight.

It had been a long night and one that stays with me in many ways. Although there are many other small details and even several more visits that yielded nothing after that evening, the objects that we witnessed and the fear that we felt, was not only surreal but quite frankly unbelievable. We witnessed what many others had seen in that area, we felt the excitement and anxiousness that I heard many times from my witness during calls. But that 1 second . . . it never leaves! It is the one second that completely changed so much for me. One second of time that to this day is haunting! It is very true, you just can’t “UNSEE” things. My mind always traces back to the two immediate thoughts that struck me, the eyes were nothing what I have heard reported in the past. Not even close. They were not the large black almond eyes at all. I also was shocked at the size of the legs. They were very thin and twig-like. I honestly remember thinking a very conscious question to myself–they’re so thin! How do they hold his body? One second of time, seared completely this memory!

I do believe this experience has made me a better Investigator for many reasons. What started as a Cat. 1 case very quickly turned into a Cat. 3! What could have easily been dismissed as “lights in the sky” was now a very real case that would need attention for a while. I have told less than a handful of people about this evening. I was asked to present this case at our state conference and did just that but I rarely speak of it now. I was asked to write this case for our [MUFON] Journal and do sincerely understand the importance in doing so but for me and to this day, I struggle with the reality of exactly what we saw. I will absolutely identify it right here, it was real! I am still amazed with the changes that happened because of that 1 second in my life.
