      It’s fascinating to watch how former Canadian Defence Minister Paul Hellyer’s “revelations” about extraterrestrials have evolved, not only in complexity but also on the world media stage. Particularly interesting is how this thing has contorted like a game of telephone from Russia Today to Iran’s semi-official English-language Fars News Agency.

On Sunday, Fars reported that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) had reviewed some 2 million purloined documents from “American ex-patriot” (sic) Edward Snowden and determined they contained smoking-gun evidence of space aliens directing an entire range of U.S. policies. Yeah, it doesn't sound all that far-fetched -- it's getting harder and harder for The Onion and Cracked to mine parody these days; Fars, a reported mouthpiece for Iran's Revolutionary Guard, is evidently muscling in on their turf. In the latest twist, Fars apparently cut-and-pasted much of its ETs-run-America article from a daffy Western web site, which claimed Snowden’s secret documents indicated the “Tall White” aliens supported Nazi Germany with military technology beginning in the 1930s. Hellyer mentioned the Tall Whites in his recent 26-minute interview with Russia Today. He made made no Nazi connections during that Q&A, but the poor guy did claim some ETs were from the Saturn moon “Andromedia,” which, so far as De Void can determine, does not exist on current solar-system maps. Fars claimed Hellyer “confirmed” the existence of America's “secret regime” to Russia’s FSB upon examining Snowden’s documents. After granting an “extensive electronic interview” to FSB, states Fars, Hellyer was then “allowed” to be interviewed by Russia Today, where he curiously avoided discussing the Third Reich’s exploitation of ET assistance with U-boat technology. (De Void wonders how a military power with access to Andromedian war machinery could ever lose a battle, but whatever). Fars went on to report that, by 1945, the aliens had switched allegiances to The Great Satan. (Maybe, given the results in Vietnam and Afghanistan, the secret regime should renegotiate the Andromedia contract.)

Still, given his Russia Today statements about Tall Whites being in cahoots with a “U.S. air force base in Nevada,” Hellyer provided Fars with plenty of material. It's hard to imagine anybody with brains actually taking this stuff seriously; for Western media like The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and Radio Free Europe, it amounted to amusing diversion. The general consensus is that the Fars piece — illustrated with a clownish montage of Barack Obama with Adolph Hitler — reflected yet another Iranian hard-liner play for hearts and minds in ongoing tensions with moderates.

Unfortunately, it’s probably time somebody nudged Hellyer offstage. As one of the star witnesses for last year’s Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, Hellyer’s high office in Canada may have lent gravitas to that week-long event, but with a conspicuous lack of documentation to back any of his claims, the returns on his authority are not only shriveling but growing counterproductive. He’s obviously had an impressive career of public service to his country. But at age 90, Hellyer’s UFO tales are unintentionally degenerating into clumsy propaganda stunts that merely perpetuate the stigma of The Great Taboo. What a shame if his open-minded efforts to advance the conversation come to be regarded as just more worthless clutter.

     He was Canadian minister of Defense in 1960s, ruling over the country’s armed forces during the time of the Cold War – and when he retired he publicly stated that we are not alone in the universe, and some guests from outer space actually live here, on planet Earth. Sophie Shevardnadze: Our guest today is the Honorable Paul Hellyer, former minister of Defense of Canada, and he believes that life forms from space are present on Earth. It’s great to have you on our show. Why do you say that UFOs are as real as airplanes flying over our heads?

Paul Hellyer: Because I know that they are. As a matter of fact, they’ve been visiting our planet for thousands of years and one of the cases that would interest you most if you give me two or three minutes to answer is that during the Cold War, 1961, there were about 50 UFOs in formation flying south from Russia across Europe, and Supreme Allied Command was very concerned and about ready to press the “Panic” button when they turned around and went back over the North Pole. They decided to do an investigation and they investigated for 3 years and they decided that, with absolute certainty, four species - at least – had been visiting this planet for thousands of years. We have a long history of UFOs and of course there has been a lot more activity in the last few decades, since we invented the atomic bomb and they are very concerned about that and the fact that we might use it again, and because the Cosmos is a unity and it affects not just us but other people in the Cosmos, they are very much afraid that we might be stupid enough to start using atomic weapons again, and this would be very bad for us and for them as well. . . .

After a retired U.S. Air Force General confirmed to Hon. Paul Hellyer that the 1947 Roswell UFO crash took place, Hellyer went public about what he knows of the cover-up. He says that he spoke out because the policy implications affect every nation on Earth. Hon. Paul Hellyer will be further discussing his views at an upcoming screening of a new documentary exposing an alleged UFO cover-up in Toronto on March 7, 2007.

Hellyer first went public about UFOs when he spoke at the Toronto Exopolitics Symposium in September 2005. He stated that a retired U.S. Air Force General confirmed to him that the 1947 Roswell UFO crash took place and originated from an advanced humanoid intelligent extraterrestrial civilization.

Hellyer is not new to controversy. While serving as Defense Minister under Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, the famous Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, he oversaw the controversial integration and unification of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and the Royal Canadian Air Force into a single organization, the Canadian Forces.

Despite the fact that some UFO reports came to his desk while Defense Minister between 1963 and 1967, Hellyer says he was too busy to further investigate, or to pay much attention.

Hellyer says that he only started taking the issue more seriously after watching Peter Jennings' ABC News Prime Time two hour special on UFOs in February 2005.

Jennings reported that the U.S. government and military had put together the Robertson Panel and Project Blue Book, in the 1950s, as a public relations effort to diminish the hysteria over UFOs at the time, and not as a serious investigation. See: http://tinyurl.com/48y2s

Jennings interviewed more than 150 witnesses and scientists, including one of the leading theoretical physicists in the world, Dr. Michio Kaku. Kaku said that Einstein's theory of relativity left us with the possibility that alien civilizations could have transcended the fabric of space and time through a "wormhole," also known as an "Einstein-Rosen Bridge." As per Webster's dictionary, a "wormhole" is defined as a "hypothetical topological feature of spacetime that is essentially a 'shortcut' from one point in the universe to another point in the universe, allowing travel between them that is faster than it would take light to make the journey through normal space."

"Maybe there's nothing there," said Kaku. "However, on that off chance that there is something there, that could literally change the course of human history. So I say let this investigation begin."

Indeed, Hellyer decided to let the investigation begin after he watched Jennings' show. He read the controversial book "The Day After Roswell" by the late Col. Philip Corso, a former Pentagon official who served directly under General Arthur Trudeau in the 1960s. Corso later worked for and befriended the late U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond, a longtime friend of the Bush family.

In late summer of 2005, Hellyer contacted a retired U.S. Air Force General, a family acquaintance, and was told that undeniably, Corso was telling the truth. He was also told that there was more to the story but that it was still highly classified, and he could not yet disclose it.

Hellyer felt compelled to go public about what he had learned so far, and he did. His September 2005 disclosure triggered a countless amount of newspaper coverage and an overwhelming number of interview requests from international media outlets. On May 9th 2006, Hellyer held a press conference in Toronto with Dr. Steven Greer of the Disclosure Project (http://www.disclosureproject.org), a nonprofit research project with over 400 government, military, and intelligence community witnesses testifying to their direct, personal, first hand experience with UFOs, ETs, ET technology, and the cover-up that keeps this information top secret.

Relating to climate change and extraterrestrial civilizations' advanced non-polluting technologies, Hellyer said:

In June 2006, Hellyer was the keynote speaker at a world peace conference in Hawaii. Speaking about climate change, advanced technology retrieved from extraterrestrial civilizations, and the lucrative oil industry, he said:

There is no doubt that the adjustment in moving away from oil dependency would be unprecedented. But it doesn't have to be accomplished overnight... By international agreement it could be done over 10, 20, or even 30 years, and that would be fast enough to save the planet from disaster."
