Is The Stephenville UFO Making The Rounds in St. Louis?

Jet Pursuing UFO
Editors Note-Good friend & colleague, Brian Vike shares the following reports with us; this is the third instance of "similar" UFOs in different parts of the country being pursued by military aircraft in the last "2" months-FW

St. Louis Missouri Two Pulsing Red Lights And Jet Aircraft

By Anonymous Eyewitness
3-2-08

Full Description of event/sighting:

I heard a very loud jet fly over around 7:30pm. I went outside approximately 5 minutes later and I saw 2 objects to the west moving south-southwest.

I could not tell a shape but they were just 2 pulsing red lights, just red and moving fast with one following another. I heard no noise at all.

Just as they were disappearing I heard jets flying to the west of me going in the same direction. I see many planes and helicopters were I live, but these were like nothing I have ever seen before.

Over St. Louis Red Lights Makes U Turn And Stops - Jet Fighters In Pursuit

Full Description of event/sighting:

By Anonymous Eyewitness
3-2-08

I was walking my dog headed east when I noticed a single red light moving NE to SW. I noticed because of the speed it was traveling. Then it did a sharp u-turn then stopped. I then noticed another red light coming from the same direction just as the first began to move again toward the SW. Then another appeared and finally the fourth. I watched as they silently one after the other with perfect distance between them head SW.

As I watched them I could hear fighter jets coming from the north, three of them flew low and fast right over my location chasing the four lights.

Editor's Note-We here at "Knowledge is Power" wish to extend our best wishes to our comrade in research, "Mr Brian Vike." Today he posted the following information at his site, BBCC UFO Research-FW
As many of you know I operate HBCC UFO Research on my own, and happy to do so. But I am going to have a couple good friends add some things to the website from time to time over the next couple of weeks or so. I will be here, but I developed a medical problem which I thought was a problem with my right eye. I was sent to the Smithers Bulkley Hospital at the emergency Saturday afternoon and was told there is nothing at all wrong with my eye, but problems with the carotid artery which of course supplies the head and neck with oxygenated blood. I have a bunch of tests coming up this week, X-Rays, etc so I am going to be not spending alot of time at the computer. Trying to do what needs to be done to prevent a stroke so I was told by the doctor. And I can tell you, things are getting worse and not staying the same or getting better.

Thank you.

UFO Seen Over Town

UFO Over Sidney
By Christine van Reeuwyk
Peninsula News Review
9-21-07

Unexplained object under investigation

Are we alone in the universe?

One Sidney resident always thought he’d wait until the aliens landed before he’d believe in little green men. The man, who routinely pops out to his suburban back yard for an evening cigarette and studies the night sky, was surprised when he saw an unidentified flying object recently. The UFO was a bright orange orb, which he later described as a jellyfish shape. He briefly wrote the unusual sight off as lights on a plane.

He quickly changed his mind.

It was too bright, too orange, and it cruised silently southward over the Sidney sky.

“I would expect a lot of people would have seen it if they looked skyward. It was very conspicuous,” he told the Peninsula News Review. “If it was a prank, it was a really good prank.”

The whole sighting took about three or four minutes he explained, pointing out the path the light cut across the Sidney sky, toward the airport. He quickly snapped off four photographs, but was disappointed with the outcome; the orange blobs against the black night sky shed little light on the origin or makeup of the UFO.

The story gets stranger as the Sidney man wasn’t alone.

He reported the sighting to an online website and shortly thereafter another report came in, also from Sidney.

“We were standing outside in the front of our house and suddenly there was a bright light that came over the trees,” the second witness reported. “I thought it was a plane at first, because it was so low, but there was no sound. It then curved around to the south moving very slowly and seemed to be getting higher and much further away … then it just disappeared.

“We knew it wasn’t a plane, it was moving way too slow. People everywhere were looking up at this thing. I don’t know what I saw, but it was pretty exciting.”

There were clear skies when the bright orange orb was spotted Sunday, Sept. 9, shortly after 9 p.m. with more than 43-kilometre visibility and gentle winds.

The sightings are being investigated by Ufologist Brian Vike, Director of HBCC UFO Research in Houston, BC.

A Ufologist studies ufology, the study of unidentified flying object reports, sightings, alleged physical evidence, and other related phenomena.

“It’s a little bit weird,” Vike said, noting the speed and shape make the sighting unusual.

“We’ve been getting a lot of this stuff out of the UK and that has turned out to be those Thai lanterns,” Vike said. “But this one, I don’t know.”

The BBC reported two years ago that the release of Thai lanterns during a wedding sparked a deluge of UFO sighting reports. Witnesses saw the group of about 30 lights Thursday, October 20, 2005 and described the red blobs as “not aeroplanes, nor helicopters”.

Traditional Thai hot air lanterns are made from thin tissue paper and bamboo. A burning paper wick provides the hot air the lifts the lantern into the night sky.

When investigating an unidentified flying object, Vikes said he begins with astronomy programs online and to confirm that it’s something unusual. Then he contacts local media, police, airports and other contacts.

“It’s basically just sort of run down the list, make calls and hopefully come up with something,” Vike said.

Little has been discovered about the recent sighting over Sidney. Despite the report of “people everywhere” looking up at it, there have been no more reports from eye witnesses. The strange, glowing orange globe also remains to be explained.

About 90 per cent of UFO’s are identified, Vike said, whether it’s weather experiments, military experiments or a host of other explanations.

“But 10 per cent remain unknown because it’s very hard to find information,” Vike said.

So far this year Vike has received about 100 reports of UFO from across BC.

“That doesn’t include all the other ufologists and there’s lots of them,” Vike said. “They’re coming in from pretty much everywhere.”

Ufologists across Canada have received more than 300 reports.”Then you try to distinguish what is real and what is not,” Vike said.

He uses his experience and little clues like lack of reply to a report, or bogus email address, to weed out false reports.

Unfortunately, he thinks the number of sightings is much higher, but people are reluctant to come forward.

“People are reluctant to report because, I think, they think their name is going to be splashed all over the place,” Vike said. He’s careful not to name witnesses on his web site, www.hbccufo.org, where he posts reports.

“It was very bright, brilliant even. It pulsated/flickered/jiggled slightly, the colour was not homogenous or static, it was very much like a glowing orange jellyfish,” the first witness said. “It continued due south over Sidney at a increasing rate of speed and appeared to move south towards Victoria and then south-west and out of sight dimming from view.”

Whether there’s an explanation or not, the Sidney man is glad there was another witness backing up his sighting, and hopes other witnesses will come forward.

Victoria Woman Reports Triangular UFO

Triangular UFO Over Victoria
A Victorian encounter of the blurred kind

By Jack Knox
Times Colonist
4-5-07

t was around 10 p.m. one night in mid-March that the Victoria woman, standing in the driveway of her acreage, saw a UFO.

"I heard a very powerful blowing noise, almost a white noise as it grew louder just to my left and just over the tree line. What came first was a very large, but dull, flashing red beacon in the centre of what began to appear as a massive triangular shape. It was like nothing I have ever seen before.

"As it approached very low, just over the trees and my house, it had a very strange white light on each side of the triangle; they seemed to be extremely bright but did not illuminate the ground at all. As it crossed overhead I thought I should be able to get a good look at it as it was a clear, starry night, but it brought a darkness with it. Darker than the night. Blacker than black, making it unable to distinguish any actual lines."

Well, must admit that's not something you see every day (unless you've been hanging around crematoriums with Keith Richards), which is why UFOlogist Brian Vike, after receiving the written report, forwarded it to the TC.

Vike lives up in Houston, B.C., where for the past seven years he has run HBBC UFO Research -- collecting reports on unexplained sightings, doing an Internet radio show.

He gets maybe 900 UFO reports a year worldwide, had 274 from Canada alone last year. Of those 274, he says maybe 200 could be readily explained away -- aircraft, Venus hanging low on the horizon, that sort of thing. He tries to weed out the hoaxers and kooks, discounts any report where the e-mail address bounces back. That still leaves plenty that's intriguing.

Vike fielded a spate of calls from Ontario in March. "We had reports of triangles. We had disc craft. We had metallic balls." Some people reported lights zig-zagging across the sky. BBC Radio interviewed him about all that this week.

Usually it's B.C. that is Canada's UFO-sighting capital, but lately it's been slow here. "It's either because the aliens went to Florida for a vacation, or the weather has been so crappy." Got to keep a sense of humour in the UFO business.

Anyway, Vike was happy to get that report from Victoria. "From the position of the lights and the shape of the blackness I am sure it was a triangle, quite flat in depth," the woman's statement read. "It moved in a very strange manner, almost hovering, this incredibly massive -- about 200 feet across and almost that long -- powerful craft moving at maybe 10 mph just over my head. It made the strangest noise, not like any kind of engine or jet. It was all very mesmerizing, and thinking back I really was very oddly stunned. I wanted to run to the house for my son but I couldn't take my eyes off it. I watched as it went over my house maybe 200 feet. ... It took up a bit of speed and altitude as it flew away. The lights very clearly started to move horizontally, left and right very quickly. It veered off towards the ocean and was gone."

Now, being a professional skeptic, my automatic suspicion is that the writer either A) was pulling Vike's leg, or B) took the brown acid at Woodstock.

On the other hand, in a world in which there are so few unexplored horizons, it is oddly comforting to remember that improbable doesn't equal impossible, that unproven doesn't mean disproven, that you can never really shut the door.

"I do believe in my heart that there is something out there, some kind of life," says Vike.

Vike: "I Think The Government Does Know a Little More Than They're Telling Us . . ."

HBCC Logo

Look, up in the sky...

By Sarah Payne
The Tri-City News
2-23-07

Ever looked out at the night sky and wondered if, amongst all those stars, there could be life?

Turns out a lot of people in the Tri-Cities have, including former resident Brian Vike, who posts sightings of unidentified flying objects on his website (www.hbccufo.org) and now discusses encounters on his own radio show.

In the past few years, Vike has collected about 10 stories of sightings in this area, including these:

• Coquitlam, March 27, 2006, 4:45 a.m. — Three red lights in triangular pattern, along with several white strobe lights flashing from various locations, flies over Burnaby Mountain at approximately 2,000 feet.

• Port Moody, May 27, 2005, 10:31 p.m. — Cluster of large balloons in V-formation seen over Heritage Mountain, several blue and one red, at 7,000 feet.

• Port Coquitlam — Stationary grey saucer-shaped object at the end of a cloud reach down toward Burke Mountain.

"I've always been a real sci-fi nut," said Vike, who grew up in Coquitlam and joined the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada in 1979. But after years of star-gazing, he started to wonder whether there could be more out there.

"It's such a mystery. Is there or isn't there?

"I'm pretty level-headed," he said, "I don't go for the silly but I honestly believe in my heart there is life out there somewhere.

"The big question is, are they visiting us?"

Vike, who now lives in Houston, B.C., readily admits most so-called sightings are explainable but some are so unusual, and witnessed by so many people, that the stories warrant further investigation. He'll contact police in the area of such a report, check flight schedules, contact relevant government agencies, and says he often gets "the run-around."

"I think the government does know a little more than they're telling us but I can't prove that for a fact," he said.

He started investigating UFOs in 2000 as a hobby but said things "got out of hand" a year later when some crop circles (later found to have been created by humans) showed up in Vanderhoof and he worked on a cattle mutilation case in Falkland. He put up the website and, not long after, reports were flowing in from around the world.

Since then, he has become a regular on radio shows, television and in numerous newspapers and magazines. He took a couple of months off last year and is back at it in full force with his own radio show, The Vike Report, where witnesses recount experiences in their own words.

"Most radio shows bring in a ufologist like myself to talk about these stories but a lot of people are really interested in hearing the person who actually saw the thing," Vike explained. "And the emotional range is incredible. Some break down in tears. It's very serious for these folks."

Brian Vike Resurfaces!

Brian Vike head

Larry Dicken     Brian is OK, although snowed in with almost 50" of snow. In a conversation with him yesterday, he informed me that he is not retiring, and that he expects to re-emerge near term into the UFO Community and continue his work. He has had a recent combination of problems that convinced him that he needed to take a break and get some rest and relaxation.
