Pentagon UFO Study Examined UFO Activity at Nuclear Missile Sites Says Former U.S. Senator Harry Reid (Redux)

During an interview with KLAS-TV investigative reporter George Knapp, former U.S. Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) acknowledged that among the UFO cases scrutinized by the newly-revealed Pentagon UFO project were those involving UFO incursions at U.S. Air Force ICBM sites.

In an email to me, Knapp said that the specific incidents studied were the so-called “Northern Tier” cases, occurring at Strategic Air Command bases in October and November 1975.

Those events have long been a matter of public record via documents released to researchers using the Freedom of Information Act in 1977.

The files, together with testimony from USAF veterans interviewed by myself and others, confirm a series of sightings by security personnel of anomalous aerial objects maneuvering near ICBM sites operated by Malmstrom AFB, Montana, as well as at nuclear Weapons Storage Areas (WSAs) at Loring AFB, Maine, and Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan.

One NORAD log entry pertaining to Malmstrom said that several UFOs were observed above Minuteman missile sites over a several-hour period on November 7th; one of them was described as an “orange white disc object”. According to the logs, as many as nine UFOs were tracked on radar and pursued, unsuccessfully, by F-106 fighters. As a result of this incident, as well as those at Loring and Wurtsmith, the Pentagon placed its entire nuclear force on a heightened alert status known as a Security Option 3.

Actually, the Northern Tier cases are just the proverbial tip of the iceberg. Other declassified documents reveal ongoing UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites over a several-decade period, including incidents at the Los Alamos and Sandia laboratories, in New Mexico; the Hanford and Savannah River plutonium-production plants, in Washington State and South Carolina; weapons test areas in Nevada and the Pacific; and ICBM test ranges at Vandenberg AFB, California, and Cape Canaveral, Florida.

These records are reinforced by now-public statements from American military veterans relating to UFO activity at virtually every nuclear missile and bomber base in the U.S. Over the past four decades, I have interviewed more than 160 U.S. Air Force veterans regarding their involvement in one or more of those incidents. Deception and Fake Videos: It's Not Just for YouTubers

People interested in UFOs often possess vast amounts of knowledge on popular cases and intricate details of happenings within the community. High profile ufology personalities and their followings know their UFO stuff. Unfortunately, we might sometimes be viewed as knowing a lot about a little, and those observations may at times have merit.

The genre is rather infamously notable for neglecting to give adequate study to topics often found less enthralling than saucer stories, yet nonetheless extremely relevant. Procedures of the intelligence community is one such relevant topic, among many. Let's take a

relatively brief look at how better understanding the intelligence community might be important for those desiring to know more about events taking place within ufology.

The Pentagon spent over $500 million – half a billion bucks – to create fake videos, according to sources such as Independent and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism. But it was much more than perception management. As a matter of fact, the videos were designed to appeal to Al-Qaeda members and sympathizers, not change their minds. This particular batch of propaganda consisted of fake terrorist vids that tracked the locations of viewers. The material was created by a UK-based public relations firm hired by the U.S. Department of Defense.

Former video editor Martin Wells reportedly worked on the project, which took place between about 2006 and 2011. Requirements included specific format and code, he explained. Marines would leave copies of the completed videos, contained on compact discs, at the scenes of raids and ransacked houses in Iraq so that enemies would later find them. According to Independent, Wells further explained:

“If one if looked at in the middle of Baghdad… you know there’s a hit there,” Mr. Wells said. “If one, 48 hours or a week later shows up in another part of the world, then that’s the more interesting one, and that’s what they’re looking for more, because that gives you a trail.”

A former chairman of Bell Pottinger, the PR firm, reportedly confirmed the existence of its contract with the Pentagon. Likewise, the Pentagon also confirmed the contract, while insisting all material distributed was truthful. That may actually be the case while the videos nonetheless fall well under the definition of Al-Qaeda propaganda.

“Bell Pottinger was first tasked by the interim Iraqi government in 2004 to promote democratic elections,” Independent reported. “They received $540m between May 2007 and December 2011, but could have earned as much as $120m from the US in 2006.”

We might also consider what history teaches us about relationships between intelligence agencies and wealthy eccentrics. The CIA recruited Howard Hughes to supply cover for Project Azorian, a multi-million dollar effort to secretly raise a sunken Russian submarine from the bottom of the ocean. The project took years to fully execute and involved Hughes announcing a fabricated plan to mine the seafloor. In actuality, sailors would work to raise the sub under the guise of mining, which, by the way, was reasonably successful. The CIA eventually released documents indicating about 40 feet of the over 300-foot vessel was retrieved.

We might be wise to familiarize ourselves with such operations and keep them in mind when contemplating the Advanced Aviation Threat Identification Program and its close relations to Robert Bigelow and To The Stars Academy. Every instance of career intelligence officials moonlighting as ufologists is certainly not the tip of a far reaching conspiracy. That stated, it is not unreasonable by any means to expect verification of evidence presented. The same can be said for claims asserted. That might particularly be considered the case when To The Stars claimed able to present a verifiable chain of custody of videos published, yet has failed to do so.

There is not a lot of wiggle room in the definition of a fact. It can be publicly reviewed and confirmed by third parties or it can't. When it can't, it simply shouldn't yet be accepted as a fact.

It's reasonable to be open-minded. It's also reasonable to be inquisitive and interested in what might be navigating the skies.

But don't be gullible. Don't be guilty of confirmation bias. Demand professionally presented evidence. The truth depends on it.

What’s Up With The Slow Dribble of Jet Fighter/UFO Videos?

TTSA needs a new game plan

OK, seriously. What’s up with the molasses-slow dribble of jet fighter/UFO videos being posted by this To The Stars Academy thing? Is there a plan here? Some sort of strategy not immediately obvious to the naked eye? Or is this what it’s beginning to look like, that nobody’s really in charge?

intelligence under two administrations made a pitch for renewed and fully funded government research into The Great Taboo. Mellon’s appeal was air-tight on logic, but since nothing succeeds like visuals, the biggest buzz wasn’t about what he said, but the accompanying video showing yet another UFO eluding a Navy warplane.

In a near-rerun of last December, when TTSA – the private for-profit corporation to which Mellon is an advisor – dropped the first two UFO chase sequences recorded by F-18s into the public domain, corporate media pounced all over this one, too. And why not? Exuberant audio exchanges between pilots who appear to be witnessing something completely extraordinary are a welcome respite from the unremitting rhythms of disappointment, mediocrity, hopelessness and despair that dominate news cycles today. Even traditional debunking platforms like Popular Mechanics are approaching the latest vid with a less jaundiced eye. For once, the geek-zine isn’t shrugging this one off with its best worst guess.

If one of TTSA’s goals is to get people talking, they’ve succeeded on that end, at least for the moment. But what exactly do they want to accomplish? There’s the money angle, of course, which they’ve actually extolled. Attempting to democratize what Jacques Vallee once labeled “Forbidden Science” by researching and exploiting UFO-type physics with transparency is a bold maneuver. Since going public in October, the TTSA has been inviting crowd-funders to participate by investing a cumulative $50 million in the project.

But the kitty is stuck at just under $2.5 million, and it hasn’t budged in months. Why is that? Anybody can play, for a lousy $200 commitment. Maybe it’s the business plan, which they’ve posted online. But De Void has only skimmed the TTSA circular, because there seems to be a more obvious impediment.

Four months ago, TTSA released the first two videos, complete with an implicit Defense Department imprimatur, an unprecedented development. The gambit was accompanied by equally unprecedented reporting from The New York Times, which confirmed the existence of a hitherto unknown UFO research program inside the Pentagon. The news made global headlines. Two of the retired pilot eyewitnesses opened up to the press. One of The Times reporters was blown away by the online traffic. This story had legs.

And then … nothing. Skeptics caught their breath, focused on the videos and began positing alternative explanations, some of which could fit only by ignoring pilot testimony. But the story was incomplete. Where was the pedigree, the paperwork that could establish the provenance of the videos? Why, if the release of what for all intents and purposes is a striking challenge to America’s air superiority, did the Pentagon decline to man up and own it? The brass isn’t interested in windfall funding to play catchup? Really? And where was The Times’ followup reporting, anticipated by critics and proponents alike?

So TTSA squandered its momentum. The dust settled, the media wandered off. Stormy Daniels and Parkland. Then, suddenly, 3/9/18, from out of the blue, boom, here comes Mellon, touting a third video. He rightfully castigates the intelligence bureaucracies for a lack of curiosity over “mysterious aircraft (that) easily sped away from and outmaneuvered America’s front-line fighters without a discernible means of propulsion.” He contrasts official indifference to the rigor with which the U.S. responded to the Sputnik challenge 60 years ago, when four successive presidents refused to cede the high ground to anybody, and wound up putting American boots on the moon.

But in publicizing a video of what he describes as “a previously undisclosed Navy encounter that occurred off the East Coast in 2015,” Mellon fails to provide chain-of-custody documentation. The TTSA website suggests its readers — including the nearly 3,000 investors who’ve ponied up $200 to join the crowd-funder — can get additional info by filing FOIA requests with the DoD. If I’m an investor, this tells me the TTSA doesn’t have its spit together. But hey, no worries — tireless veteran FOIA sleuths like John Greenewald and Paul Dean are already on it, doing the TTSA’s work for it.

Does TTSA know what it’s doing? Unlike the December video revelations, Mellon’s release of the third F-18 UFO footage wasn’t packaged with additional third-party reporting. It merely bolstered his op-ed plea for action by Washington. Why couldn’t that sequence have been released back in December? Or, thinking more strategically, why couldn’t those two videos have had a staggered release, like maybe a month apart? Triple the publicity?

Depending on what else they’re sitting on, TTSA can still pull this $50M thing off. But at this point, the debate is spinning its wheels over the videos, which should’ve been a moot point by now. Whoever’s calling the shots here needs to come up with a better blueprint.
