Lincolnton - George D. Fawcett, a well known UFO investigator and researcher for the past 65 years, is one of the keynote speakers this weekend at the Hopkinville, Kentucky “Little Green Men Festival”. Fawcett is a Mount Airy native and resident of Lincolnton.

Fawcett, is scheduled to speak this weekend at the Holiday Inn and will present a slide show of dozens of key cases he has investigated worldwide. He will also have numerous UFO exhibits and will participate in autograph sessions of his latest book, titled, “What We Have Learned from UFO Repetitions” and “Human Reactions to UFOs and UFOnauts Worldwide”. Both books were published in 2005.

The festival is based on a August 21, 1955 incident involving an eleven member farm family that encountered a UFO landing and its six to eight “Little Green Men”. The “green” label was actually given by the media, not the family.

The incident involved an eight hour gun battle with the creatures and the family’s flight to a local police department.

The festival will feature eyewitness testimony, a number of well known speakers, children’s Alien Costume judging, a documentary movie of the story, an ongoing Pennyroyal Area Museum traveling display about the event, a trade show for UFO enthusiasts, and a star gazing session by amateur astronomers. Other activities include a panel discussion entitled, “What Really Happened”, bus tours, trade show, and an “Out of this World Music Concert” at the University Heights Academy.

The U.S. Air Force Blue Book studies still list the Hopkinville, Kentucky UFO incident as “unexplained”.
