BETHEL -- Dante Vaghi had a lifelong fascination with unidentified flying objects and he shared it with his hometown, where he lived and worked for nearly his whole life.
Vaghi died Friday morning at age 89.
"He was completely authentic, a totally original human being," Bethel resident Billy Michael said Friday. "He didn't try to hide or camouflage who he was. He was wonderful."
Michael said he promised Vaghi he would pay his favorite song, "Spirit in the Sky," 13 times in the Bethel Gazebo in front of the municipal center after he died.
