ROSWELL — The City of Roswell is known by many as the UFO capital of the world. Now, residents are preparing for another close encounter, this time of a natural kind.

Area residents and dragonfly enthusiasts will swarm the city for the 6th annual Dragonfly Festival on Sept. 9-10 at the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

Roswell is home to more than 90 species of dragonflies, and the Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge supports one of the most diverse populations of dragonflies in the country.
