The witness claims having a sequence of 16 photographs and this luminous object appeared to be following an airplane that landed at the local airport.

The "luminous object" is clearly a reflection of one of the lights mounted on the deck of the cruise ship.
There was an almost identical photo taken on the Rathausplatz in Hamburg (if I remember correctly) in the 80ies that made it onto the front pages of the tabloid press. The papers only printed a cropped version, showing only the "UFO" next to the tower of the city hall. Several days later the full picture was published. It became clear that the spectacular UFO was only the reflection of the flashing blue light that was mounted on a police car in the foreground of the photo.
