“UFOs: The Secret Story” is a 60-minute lecture concerning the U.S. government’s covert response to UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites and is based on hundreds of U.S. Air Force, FBI and CIA documents declassified via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), as well as the testimony of 120 former or retired U.S. military personnel interviewed by Hastings.The documents confirm that UFOs do indeed exist and further reveal that these mysterious aerial objects are of the greatest concern to the U.S. Air Force and various American intelligence agencies. Consequently, the files completely contradict frequent public denials about the UFO reality issued over the years by official spokesmen in Washington.
Specifically, the documents refer to UFOs repeatedly violating highly-sensitive airspace over nuclear weapons sites, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory, where nuclear weapons are designed. Other documents concern UFOs hovering above nuclear missile launch silos or nuclear bomb storage bunkers. Still others refer to attempted aerial intercepts of UFOs by military jet fighters. So far as is known, all of these efforts have been unsuccessful.
On September 27, 2010, Hastings co-sponsored the “UFO-Nukes Connection” press conference at the National Press Club in Washington D.C. during which seven former or retired U.S. Air Force personnel divulged their direct or indirect knowledge of incidents of UFO activity at nuclear weapons sites during the Cold War era. One of the event’s participants, retired USAF Col. Charles Halt, discussed his involvement in the famous Rendlesham Forest/RAF Bentwaters UFO incidents, in Suffolk, in December 1980. Halt revealed that one of the UFOs briefly hovered near the base nuclear Weapons Storage Area (WSA) and directed laser-like beams of light down into or near it.
Hastings has interviewed a number of ex-USAF Security Policemen who witnessed a UFO presence at the Bentwaters WSA, on more than one night, as well as the two controllers on duty at the base air traffic control tower during the week-long period of UFO activity, both of whom confirm tracking an anomalous aerial object on radar as it raced in and momentarily hovered not far from them. One of controllers, Ike Barker, observed the orange-colored, spherical-shaped craft out of the window.

Hastings also appeared on CNN’s Larry King Live on July 18, 2008, together with former U.S. Air Force officers who had been involved in nuclear weapons-related UFO incidents. Two of them, missile launch officer Robert Salas and targeting officer Robert Jamison, say that an entire “flight” of ten Minuteman missiles mysteriously malfunctioned just as a UFO was sighted hovering above the flight’s launch control facility, outside of Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana, in March 1967. Hastings has interviewed other Air Force missile personnel who describe identical events occurring at other Air Force missile bases.

Hastings, an independent UFO researcher and lecturer, says that his interest in UFOs also began in 1967, when he was present at the air traffic control tower at Malmstrom, during a two-week period of intermittent UFO activity at the base’s missile sites. “One night, five UFOs were tracked on radar for several minutes”, he recounts, “and jets were launched to intercept them. I later learned from Air Force sources that as the jets closed in, the UFOs performed a vertical ascent and left the area at enormous speed—far beyond the capability of any aircraft.”
Since that incident, Hastings has devoted countless hours researching UFOs and the U.S. government’s covert response to them. He has spoken at over 500 American colleges and universities since 1981, in an effort to bring to the public the intriguing information he and other researchers have obtained. “I am not condemning any government agency for its policy of secrecy regarding UFOs,” says Hastings, “but I believe that the American public, and people everywhere, should be given the facts.”
From 1988 to 2002, Hastings was employed as a laboratory analyst by Philips Semiconductors in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is now retired from that field and devotes full time to UFO investigations.
